Shi Qin returned to the resort that evening and found He Siyue standing at the entrance. He Siyue originally wanted to cook noodles with Shi Qin, but she was still upset about what had happened earlier and had no mood for it. She grabbed a cup of instant noodles and went back to her room. He Siyue didn’t know what had caused Shi Qin's sudden change in attitude. Shi Qin shared the day's events with her two close friends.
Chen Zhu, with her fiery temper, immediately wanted to confront He Siyue for being a jerk, but she was held back just in time. Shen Xingruo was worried that if it was all a misunderstanding, it would make it difficult for Shi Qin and He Siyue to get along in the future. Chen Zhu, after calming down, suggested that Xu Chengzhou and Lu Xingyan, as close friends of He Siyue, go and see what he had to say.
Both Shi Qin and Shen Xingruo agreed. Unfortunately, Lu Xingyan and Xu Chengzhou failed in their task. He Siyue, being someone who never lies, didn’t want to hide anything, but also couldn’t tell them what was going on. When Chen Zhu found out, she once again labeled He Siyue as a scumbag. Shi Qin felt that she could handle the situation herself, so she took the initiative to meet with Di Jiajing and asked about their meeting.
Di Jiajing honestly said that they had been meeting regularly once a week for the past ten years, just for meals and conversations. He Siyue had always been by Di Jiajing’s side during that time. Hearing this, Shi Qin felt extremely disheartened. The show resumed recording with a new round, and it was time for the guests to make their final choices. Evan praised the three female guests but ultimately chose to leave.
Di Jiajing chose He Siyue, which prompted an outburst from Chen Zhu, who angrily accused them of being secretly involved. When it was He Siyue’s turn to make his choice, Shi Qin stepped forward first, deciding to withdraw herself. After speaking, Shi Qin ran off, and He Siyue chased after her, with everyone else following.
Shi Qin, clearly emotional, said that since He Siyue and Di Jiajing had such a close relationship, he shouldn't have chosen her when he first joined the show. Now, with things at this point, her decision to leave was the best outcome. Chen Zhu, unable to control her emotions, threw a water bottle at He Siyue, and Lu Xingyan quickly pulled He Siyue away.
Shen Xingruo stopped the recording in time and warned the on-site staff to delete all unofficially recorded footage, as she feared someone might use the incident to stir up trouble before the show was even publicized. Later, He Siyue met with Di Jiajing. He explained that the reason he had always been by her side over the years was because she had psychological issues, and he had been accompanying her to therapy sessions.
The reason for the secrecy was that Di Jiajing didn’t want anyone to know she was seeking psychological counseling. Di Jiajing, in turn, opened up about her feelings. She had come on the show because of He Siyue. Years ago, He Siyue had saved Di Jiajing when she was about to take her own life.
Di Jiajing’s mother had been unable to have more children after giving birth to her, and her father, who favored sons, constantly made her feel inferior. For years, Di Jiajing endured her mother’s scolding and the immense pressure to prove herself and repay her mother. But no matter what she did, her mother was never satisfied and only hurled more abuse at her.
One day, after a particularly intense argument with her mother, Di Jiajing ran out of the house, intending to jump into the sea. He Siyue, who had overheard the argument while passing by, followed her and stopped her from jumping. Afterward, they kept in touch, and He Siyue noticed that Di Jiajing had begun self-harming, so he suggested she see a therapist.
Di Jiajing, however, was too scared to go alone, so He Siyue accompanied her to every session, even to this day. Di Jiajing had mistaken their friendship for love, but He Siyue made it clear that he didn’t have romantic feelings for her and that he already had someone he liked. Meanwhile, Lu Xingyan learned from Xu Chengzhou that the resort had received a notice about an upcoming event—a funeral. It was for Shen Xingruo’s father.
Since it was complicated to bring the body back to China, they had cremated it abroad, and Shen Xingruo’s father’s relatives were bringing the ashes home to hold a farewell ceremony. Although Shen Xingruo didn’t have a good relationship with her father, Lu Xingyan was heartbroken to tell her the news. The sudden event left Shen Xingruo unable to process it; she couldn’t even eat and just wanted to go home. Lu Xingyan took her home.
