Xu Qi'an introduced himself to the team using an alias. After learning about the basic details of the team members, he returned to report to Wei Yuan. Wei Yuan recognized several of the names Xu Qi'an mentioned. Interestingly, the founder of the Heaven’s Will Society did not seem to mind Xu Qi'an’s identity and even allowed him to gather information freely within the group.

This puzzled both Wei Yuan and Xu Qi'an, leading them to speculate that the society might be trying to recruit Nightwatchers. As a reward for Xu Qi'an’s efforts, Wei Yuan allowed him to choose a sword manual and specifically advised him to pick one with simple, practical techniques, avoiding flashy but impractical moves. Taking this advice to heart, Xu Qi'an selected the "One Blade Manual.

" Li Yuchun, however, disapproved of this choice, as the manual’s preface boldly stated: “One slash is enough. If you need a second, then the best strategy is to retreat. ” Li Yuchun found this philosophy disgraceful, but Xu Qi'an, valuing his life above all, thought it was perfectly reasonable. Lately, Xu Qi'an’s luck had been extraordinary. After receiving his reward, he also obtained the new manual.

Suspecting that this good fortune was due to Lin An, he visited her to confirm. Lin An took all the credit for his success, making Xu Qi'an completely trust her. He even swore to follow the Eldest Princess for the rest of his life. Xu Qi'an questioned Hengyuan in the group chat, trying to determine whether Hengyuan had acted out of righteousness or malice. If Hengyuan was kind-hearted, Xu Qi'an considered helping him as a way to repay his debt. But if Hengyuan were malevolent, Xu Qi'an planned to use the information to capture him and earn a reward. Hengyuan explained that Pingyuan Bo was involved in human trafficking, abducting and abusing children for profit.

He provided irrefutable evidence of Pingyuan Bo’s crimes, angering the Heaven’s Will Society members. After learning Hengyuan’s location, Xu Qi'an secretly handed him a set of clothes from Xu Xinnian’s academy to disguise him, ensuring that the Bronze Gong members could not identify him. After discreetly delivering the clothes, Xu Qi'an was caught by the Golden Gong, who discovered the jade mirror in his possession.

To retrieve it, Xu Qi'an boldly approached the group, invoked Wei Yuan’s name, and demanded the artifact back. Though they did not recognize Xu Qi'an, mentioning Wei Yuan made them cautious, and they returned the mirror to him. Through the Heaven’s Will Society, Xu Qi'an learned that Pingyuan Bo’s death had caused trouble for Wei Yuan, with court officials accusing him of incompetence for failing to apprehend the suspect.

After a sleepless night of inner conflict, Xu Qi'an decided to confess to Wei Yuan. When he admitted to secretly helping the suspect escape, Wei Yuan was furious, throwing a cup to the ground. Xu Qi'an quickly presented the evidence of Pingyuan Bo’s crimes, gradually calming Wei Yuan’s anger. In fact, Wei Yuan had already disliked Pingyuan Bo and had intentionally given the Nightwatchers a temporary reprieve earlier in the day.

Wei Yuan forgave Xu Qi'an and instructed him to continue infiltrating the Heaven’s Will Society, emphasizing the importance of identifying all its members. He also reminded Xu Qi'an to stay safe. That night, Hengyuan reported his safety in the group chat. Everyone knew it was Member Three—Xu Qi'an—who had saved him. Curious, they asked how he had managed to evade the Nightwatchers.

Before Hengyuan could fully explain, Xu Qi'an exaggerated the story, claiming he had worn Hengyuan’s clothes to divert the Nightwatchers and was now being hunted himself. This gained him the sympathy and admiration of the group, elevating his reputation within the society.
