Yang Qianfan fantasized about defeating the Dharma image in battle. However, after several rounds, he realized he stood no chance and ended up face-first in the dirt. Unwilling to accept defeat, he went to argue with the Supervisor of the Directorate of Celestial Monitoring. The Supervisor, irritated by his incessant complaints, unceremoniously kicked him out. A few days later, Xu Pingzhi received an invitation to a grand gathering hosted by high-ranking officials and nobles to watch a Dharma battle.

Normally just an ordinary martial artist, Xu Pingzhi had never had the chance to attend such an event. Excited, he brought his entire family along to the banquet. At the event, Madam Xu encountered Sister Xiuhe. During the time Xu Qi'an was imprisoned, Madam Xu had brought many gifts to plead for Sister Xiuhe's help. Now that they were at the same banquet, Sister Xiuhe, in her usual sarcastic manner, looked down on her.

However, upon seeing that Madam Xu was seated in a position of higher honor, Sister Xiuhe's face turned green with envy. It was Xu Pingzhi’s first time seeing the court officials he had only ever heard of, including Wei Yuan. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Xu Pingzhi eagerly approached Wei Yuan, offering to refill his tea and acting with great enthusiasm. Wei Yuan, however, only responded with a polite smile. Realizing his overzealousness, Xu Pingzhi awkwardly retreated.

Meanwhile, Xu Lingyue, Xu Qi'an’s youngest sister, noticed an array of fruits and candied snacks on Wei Yuan’s table. Unable to resist, she quietly sneaked under the table. Lingyue, being young, adorable, and well-behaved, caught Wei Yuan's attention. He lifted her onto his lap and peeled fruit for her. Xu Pingzhi, seeing his daughter's boldness, nervously broke into a sweat. Fortunately, Wei Yuan was fond of children.

Xu Qi'an’s eldest sister reassured Xu Pingzhi not to worry, saying that since Wei Yuan had always supported Xu Qi'an, he would naturally extend his care to their family as well. The seating arrangement at the banquet was also carefully planned. Thanks to Wang Simu’s meticulous setup, the tables for Wang Zhenwen and Xu Pingzhi were placed close together.

Xu Pingzhi even leaned over to Wang Zhenwen, asking which person was the Chief Minister and boldly stating that his son would make a perfect match for the Chief Minister’s daughter. Wang Zhenwen, a man who had seen countless personalities, couldn’t help but find Xu Pingzhi’s straightforwardness both amusing and exasperating. Outside, the excitement reached its peak as the Dharma battle was about to begin. The crowd eagerly anticipated the day’s victor.

Xu Qi'an was extremely nervous, knowing he had little chance of success. If he failed today, it would be an embarrassment witnessed by the entire city. Thankfully, Lin An was present and brought him a poetry collection to encourage him. She suggested that he recite poetry during the competition to enhance his aura. Taking her advice to heart, Xu Qi'an ascended the Dharma statue while confidently reciting poetry.

His charisma won over the audience, who erupted into cheers and chants of encouragement. As Xu Qi'an climbed the Dharma statue, he fell into an illusion. In this hallucination, he witnessed his entire life in a modern society. He saw himself as a crying infant in swaddling clothes, a teenager experiencing a failed romance, a middle-aged man burdened by the pressures of life, and an elderly man confined to his sickbed. He observed the complete trajectory of a person’s life.

In the illusion, someone asked him whether life had any meaning at all. Even as an elderly man nearing the end of his life, Xu Qi'an firmly believed that life held meaning. Although every stage was filled with failures and sadness, the true value lay in the experience itself. The journey, with all its ups and downs, was inherently meaningful.
