Guardians of the Dafeng Episode 32 Recap
> Guardians of the Dafeng Recap
The Celestial Realm Envoy led Xu Qi'an into an illusion and repeatedly asked him about the meaning of life. At first, Xu Qi'an was somewhat confused, but after a brief moment of thought, his mind became clearer. Toward the final stages of his life in the illusion, he found peace and prepared to make a counterattack. During each lifetime's final moments, he would return to discuss the meaning of life with the envoy, becoming increasingly spirited.
Now, Xu Qi'an began posing his own questions, asking the envoy if eating had meaning, if breathing had meaning, or even if opening one’s eyes had meaning. This left the envoy utterly bewildered, shaking their worldview. They began to doubt their own actions, and Xu Qi'an effortlessly split the Dharma image apart. As the Dharma image began to collapse, Xu Qi'an obtained a small jade knife. The audience erupted in cheers, celebrating his victory in the Dharma battle.
Xu Pingzhi, overcome with emotion, wept with joy and even forgot his status, grabbing the Chief Minister’s sleeve to wipe his tears. Lin An, finally relieved of her anxiety, revealed a proud smile. Xu Qi'an had lived up to everyone's expectations and emerged victorious. When Xu Qi'an awoke, he found himself lying in the White Deer Academy, still holding the small knife he had used to split the Dharma image.
The Supervisor of the Directorate of Celestial Monitoring informed him that this carving knife was the treasured artifact of the White Deer Academy. The sword Lin An had once given Xu Qi'an seemed to have played a role in splitting the Dharma image, thanks to the combined efforts of the White Deer Academy and the Directorate of Celestial Monitoring.
When the Emperor received the news, he was baffled as to how a mere Silver Gong night patrolman could so easily destroy the Dharma image. Palace servants relayed the explanation: the carving knife from the White Deer Academy contained the power of a semi-saint, and Xu Qi'an, being the chosen one, had awakened this primordial force of the semi-saint. Carrying the fortune of a true dragon, he completed the task effortlessly.
Upon learning that Xu Qi'an could harness the power of a semi-saint, the Emperor grew even more wary. The Supervisor of the Directorate of Celestial Monitoring and the great scholar of the White Deer Academy discussed the matter as well. Now that Xu Qi'an’s brilliance was shining brightly, it was certain that Emperor Jing had taken notice. The Emperor would not tolerate someone stronger than himself. The two influential figures decided to protect Xu Qi'an and help him advance further.
At the same time, Emperor Jing received Xu Qi'an’s request to be granted the title of marquis. After a brief moment of thought, the Emperor agreed. However, he immediately issued another decree, ordering Xu Qi'an to set out on a mission to investigate the "Blood Massacre of Three Thousand Miles.
" The Emperor justified this by claiming Xu Qi'an's unparalleled abilities and his strong connections with both the Directorate of Celestial Monitoring and the White Deer Academy would make the task easier. When Lin An heard that Xu Qi'an was leaving on a mission, she hurried to see him off.
However, a maid relayed an order from the Imperial Consort, who declared that Lin An was to be confined to the palace to protect her reputation, as rumors were spreading that she had gone to the White Deer Academy for Xu Qi'an. Disguising herself as a maid, Lin An secretly left the palace to meet Xu Qi'an. Since Xu Qi'an’s success in splitting the Dharma image, people from the palace began showering the Xu family with gifts.
These included jewelry from the wife of the Vice Minister of Works and rare paintings from other officials. Holding these treasures, Xu Qi'an questioned his uncle and Xu Xinnian about why they hadn't taken better care of him while he was unconscious. Xu Xinnian explained that when he and Xu Pingzhi had visited, Princess Lin An had taken it upon herself to look after Xu Qi'an.
When Xu Xinnian had tried to pour water and wash a towel to clean Xu Qi'an’s face, Lin An insisted on doing it herself. Seeing that the two men had nothing to do in the room, she urged them to leave. Thus, Xu Xinnian and Xu Pingzhi were essentially driven out. After recounting the details, Xu Xinnian sighed, remarking on how much Princess Lin An cared for Xu Qi'an.
Xu Qi'an, however, was unfazed and added that his request for a noble title from the Emperor was actually for Xu Xinnian’s sake. Xu Qi'an explained that since Xu Xinnian was deeply in love with the Chief Minister’s daughter, a lack of a noble title would make the union impossible due to the disparity in status.
Xu Xinnian lamented helplessly, commenting that Xu Pingzhi had embarrassed himself in front of the Chief Minister, Wang Zhenwen, which likely doomed any chance of a marriage alliance. When Xu Pingzhi realized the elderly man he had been chatting with that night was Wang Zhenwen himself, his eyes widened in shock. One day, in the courtyard of his home, Xu Qi'an encountered two envoys from the Celestial Realm.
One of them, named Du Ku, touched Xu Qi'an’s forehead and awakened Shen Shu, who had been residing within Xu Qi'an. Shen Shu recalled fragments of his past but remained incomplete, needing more time to recover within Xu Qi'an’s body. Grateful for Xu Qi'an’s care, Du Ku revealed some information: Shen Shu had been placed inside Xu Qi'an by the Spirit Sage of the Witch God Sect.
Once Shen Shu recovered, the Spirit Sage might come to take Xu Qi'an away. For now, the safest place for him was this city. After leaving Xu Qi'an with these warnings, the two envoys disappeared.
