Xu Qi'an instructed Li Miaozhen to quickly send news to the capital while he focused on protecting Zheng Xinghuai. Reflecting on the massacre of the city's people and the Duke of Zhenbei’s atrocities, Xu Qi'an drew his blade and rode the clouds to confront the duke. From afar, he could already see the blood spirits formed from the slaughtered citizens of Chuzhou.

When the Duke of Zhenbei saw Xu Qi'an, he repeatedly claimed that his actions were for the stability of the nation. But Xu Qi'an saw through his lies. Even as death loomed, the duke continued to make excuses. If it was truly for the nation's peace, what about the 380,000 innocent lives lost? The Duke of Zhenbei attempted to rally Xu Qi'an to join him in attacking the Kui tribe.

However, with the Nation-Stabilizing Sword in hand, Xu Qi'an summoned the full power of his primal soul. A grand scene played out across the heavens, displaying the confrontation between Xu Qi'an and the duke. Below, many soldiers, who had once sworn loyalty to the duke, witnessed the truth: their revered general was a demon who had massacred an entire city. Some began to waver, though agitators tried to twist the narrative.

Xu Qi'an publicly challenged the duke, pointing out that the Nation-Stabilizing Sword, a weapon capable of discerning truth, was present. If the duke truly cared for the people, the sword would acknowledge him. Everyone watched intently as the Duke of Zhenbei reluctantly approached the sword. As soon as he touched it, the sword repelled him violently. The crowd gasped, realizing the duke was indeed a demon. With the Nation-Stabilizing Sword, Xu Qi'an struck down the Duke of Zhenbei.

In his final moments, the duke mocked Xu Qi'an, saying he had gone to such lengths for mere "ants. " To view the common people as ants showed the duke's arrogance and blindness. Xu Qi'an ended his life with one last strike, declaring that the duke was no different from an ant himself. Next, Xu Qi'an turned his attention to the Kui tribe leader, recognizing the danger he posed. If left alive, the world would remain in turmoil.

Summoning all his strength, Xu Qi'an launched a decisive attack. Using only one strike, he killed the leader and sealed his essence within the jade mirror. With all enemies eliminated, Xu Qi'an was utterly exhausted. When Li Miaozhen returned from her own tasks, she found the battlefield littered with the remnants of the Kui tribe's demonic forces. She quickly searched for Xu Qi'an, eventually finding him collapsed on the ground. Xu Qi'an eventually regained consciousness after an unknown amount of time.

Reflecting on his battle with the Kui tribe leader, he remembered how the divine being Shen Shu within him had provided him with boundless strength. However, he wasn’t sure if Shen Shu was still there. Su Su tended to him diligently, bringing along Zhu Yang and Yang Yan from Chunfeng Hall to help replenish his vitality. Thanks to their efforts, Xu Qi'an recovered quickly. Xu Qi'an then met with several ministers to discuss how to report the situation to Emperor Jing.

The Duke of Zhenbei had close ties to the emperor and was deeply loved by the people. Bringing back such dire news would be met with skepticism. Xu Qi'an encouraged everyone not to lose heart. Though it would be difficult, they had to try. Additionally, if Que Yongxiu entered the palace first to present his version of events, he would distort the truth to serve his interests. It was crucial to reach the emperor before Que Yongxiu.

Li Miaozhen suggested bringing General Li along to explain everything to the emperor. However, just before their departure, General Li, overwhelmed with guilt, took his own life.
