Hi Producer Recap
Episode 1 Recap
Gu Shiyong, the CEO of He Ming Zhong Run Film and Television Company, is determined to create a large-scale cultural variety show called "Inheritance" that promotes traditional Chinese culture. He has invited young cultural relic expert Tao Tang and renowned director Mu Zongyun to participate. Tao Tang is elegant, modest, and courteous. Due to an accidental incident, he became popular on the internet and gained a reputation as a handsome and knowledgeable cultural relic expert. However, he personally dislikes the trend of "excessive entertainment of historical relics." Although he accepts the invitation from his friend Gu Shiyong to be a program consultant, he remains cautious about the show.
Mu Zongyun has profound artistic accomplishments and possesses his own unique vision and aesthetics. He is not easily compromised by worldly matters. The three of them immediately begin the recruitment process for program production, aiming to gather talented individuals. Along with many other interviewees, Yu Zaizao, a talent specially introduced by Gu's father, participates in the job application. Gu Shiyong strongly disapproves of "using connections" and has no intention of hiring her. However, Yu Zaizao demonstrates outstanding professional competence, excellent on-the-spot reactions, and experience in grassroots work. Her impressive performance leaves all the interviewers speechless. Although Gu Shiyong still has a negative impression of Yu Zaizao, he is unwilling to lose such a talented individual and can only temporarily bring her under his wing.
Episode 2 Recap
Gu Shiyong is very satisfied with the material provided by Yu Zaizao, but Tao Tang strongly opposes the content about the conflicts between the Liu father and daughter and immediately leaves the set. Yu Zaizao is unwilling to give up and catches up with Tao Tang to demand an explanation. Tao Tang believes that Yu Zaizao obtained the filming permission and, from a legal standpoint, did nothing wrong. However, considering the emotional aspect, it would be difficult to mend the cracks in the father-daughter relationship. Gu Shiyong is extremely dissatisfied with Yu Zaizao's act of following Tao Tang and demands that she bring Tao Tang back. Otherwise, he threatens to remove her from the program.
Master Liu learns that his daughter, Liu Jiamei, allowed the program to air footage depicting their disagreement. He becomes furious with his daughter and she tearfully confides in him about his favoritism toward her younger brother. The two of them part on bad terms. Late at night, Yu Zaizao and Tao Tang rush to the studio and find Master Liu alone, his face stained with tears. Yu Zaizao plays a video recording where Liu Jiamei earnestly demonstrates her passion and dedication for silk inlay work. Master Liu watches his daughter's enthusiasm firsthand and falls into deep thought. Suddenly, Liu Jiamei returns to the studio and unexpectedly bumps into her father, who decides to personally teach her the art of silk inlay. The father and daughter finally reconcile, and Master Liu even makes a bet that if his daughter achieves a ranking in the provincial competition, he will pass on the studio to her. The production team quietly sets up recording equipment to capture this heartwarming and beautiful moment without disturbing them.
Episode 3 Recap
On a new workday, Gu Shiyong's highly paid star director, Yuan Jiaying, makes a dazzling appearance. Before they have a chance to clash, Yu Zaizao becomes an assistant director, assisting Yuan in her work. Yuan Jiaying mistakenly assumes that Yu Zaizao is an ordinary assistant and assigns her tasks like collecting basic information on silk weaving and running errands for printing and ordering food. Tao Tang believes that Gu Shiyong is being particularly harsh. Gu Shiyong initiates an investigation report on Yu Zaizao. It is revealed that Yu Zaizao's mother passed away, and she grew up under the care of her heavily indebted father and her well-off aunt, Yu Wangqing. They constantly fought over custody rights, and in the end, Yu Zaizao grew up with her aunt. Gu Shiyong suspects that Yu Zaizao has ulterior motives, but Tao Tang does not agree with Gu Shiyong's viewpoint. Tao Tang vaguely senses that Yu Zaizao is different from others and begins to investigate discreetly.
Gu Shiyong and Yuan Jiaying share a good relationship, and when Yuan Jiaying receives a call from Gu Shiyong, she drops everything and rushes over, full of confidence in joining the team. Gu Shiyong's father is concerned about Yu Zaizao's daily life and invites her, Gu Shiyong, and Yu Wangqing to have a meal together. Gu Shiyong suggests that Yu Zaizao complain to his father or simply quit the company. Unexpectedly, Yu Zaizao turns the tables, and Gu Shiyong agrees on the spot to make her a director of Group B. Gu's father misunderstands that the two are getting along well, but Gu Shiyong's inner resentment grows, and he ends up leaving her on the street midway.
Episode 4 Recap
Tao Tang knew that Yu Zaizao wanted to win, so he cleverly used the silk weaving works to get Lin Shangying to open up and reveal the life secrets of five generations of women in the Lin family. Lin Shangying's great-grandmother, Lin Zhangxiu, was born during the Guangxu era. Her "mixed-color embroidery method" brought the silk weaving works to life. Lin Zhangxiu, who remained unmarried throughout her life, adopted a little girl, who was Lin Shangying's grandmother, Lin Qifeng. At the age of sixteen, Lin Qifeng got married. However, during the turbulent times of war, her husband had to leave his wife and go to the battlefield. Day after day, Lin Qifeng worked on silk weaving, pouring her longing for her husband into every stitch. The little girl from the neighboring house secretly watched Lin Qifeng's silk weaving, hoping she could become her mother. Eventually, her wish came true. However, it wasn't until Lin Qifeng's final moments that the little girl revealed a deep secret she had hidden for decades to Lin Qifeng. It was that Lin Qifeng's husband had returned from the battlefield and came to their old residence to look for her. But the little girl lied to the man, telling him that Lin Qifeng had remarried. This lying little girl was none other than Lin Shangying's mother, Lin Xuexin. Lin Qifeng did not blame Lin Xuexin, her granddaughter, but instead passed on the weaving machine to her, hoping that one day she would complete the double-sided silk weaving. And Lin Shangying was not Lin Haishan's biological mother either. During the 1980s, when there was a wave of people going abroad, Haishan's birth mother entrusted her to Lin Shangying, who devoted all her efforts to raising Haishan. The stories of five generations depict a vivid picture of the times, with several women's unwavering dedication to the art of silk weaving, which is both moving and thought-provoking in terms of their destinies.
Episode 5 Recap
After the broadcast of the second episode, it received a lot of positive reviews and gained popularity. Everyone attended the celebration banquet, except Yu Zaizao. As the program's director, Gu Shiyong didn't give her credit, which completely angered Yu Zaizao. Just as she was questioning Yuan Jiaying, Tao Tang intervened in time. Tao Tang decided to restrain Yu Zaizao's behavior but fought for her recognition and obtained the right to be credited.
Shu Rong is introverted and accustomed to dealing with her emotions on her own, rarely expressing her true feelings to those around her. The shadows from her childhood and the pressures from work constantly surround Shu Rong, making it hard for her to breathe. Her ex-boyfriend, who had previously caused her harm, reappeared and entangled her. Shu Rong attempted to seek help from people around her but lacked the courage, almost being pushed into a desperate situation. Fortunately, Yu Zaizao noticed the clues. Late at night, Shu Rong was alone in the office working overtime when her ex-boyfriend harassed her again. Shu Rong was in a panic and didn't know how to fight back. Luckily, Yu Zaizao appeared in time, knocked out the assailant, and saved Shu Rong.
Episode 6 Recap
Yu Zaizao attempted to propose the idea of showcasing Qing Dynasty court women's attire to the company but was unexpectedly preempted by Yuan Jiaying. With the recommendation of Wang Xining, Yuan Jiaying found a skilled Shanghai qipao master and made a series of perfect arrangements, depicting the evolution from traditional clothing to qipao. Inside the museum, Tao Tang and Yuan Jiaying had conflicting ideas. Tao Tang discovered that the exhibits in the museum were not limited to Qing Dynasty attire. He proposed creating a special feature on Ming and Qing Dynasty clothing to provide a more comprehensive understanding of Chinese women's attire. However, Yuan Jiaying believed that the robes of the Qing Dynasty consorts were the most well-known and would be more marketable overseas, leading to a disagreement between them.
On the other hand, at the shooting location of Group B, the qipao master, Master Liu, was not good with words, causing the shooting to come to a standstill. Yu Zaizao faced a difficult situation as she couldn't extract valuable stories from him. To ensure high viewership, Yuan Jiaying devised a shooting plan to fabricate a dramatic story for creating highlights, but Yu Zaizao firmly rejected it. After Yu Zaizao refused to continue shooting, Yuan Jiaying took on the responsibility and commanded both groups simultaneously. However, Master Liu was unwilling to narrate the fabricated story according to Yuan Jiaying's script, leaving Yuan Jiaying in a difficult position.
Episode 7 Recap
Yuan Jiaying turned to seek Wang Xining's help. After arduous efforts, the two finally uncovered the emotional story behind Master Liu. Yu Zaizao, who was on the verge of defeat, suddenly had a flash of inspiration with Tao Tang's insightful hint. Gu Shiyong saw the magnificent stage prepared by Yu Zaizao but didn't know what she had up her sleeve, fearing that it would be a futile investment. He became anxious and agitated. Yu Zaizao decided to ask Shu Rong for help, recreating the evolution of Chinese women's hairstyles and attire throughout history, with a focus on traditional Chinese female elegance. Women dressed in costumes from different dynasties appeared graceful and elegant, as if stepping out of ancient paintings. With Tao Tang's assistance, the grand Chinese attire showcase outshone the sentimental emotional story, receiving thunderous applause and causing Yuan Jiaying to lose face. At the cheongsam exhibition, Yu Zaizao wore a cheongsam and became even more charming and captivating, deeply touching Gu Shiyong. Yuan Jiaying contemplated resigning due to her defeat against Yu Zaizao, but Gu Shiyong persuaded her to stay, and she chose to stay for the sake of the overall situation. A program called "Heritage Stories" emerged, with a positioning and content very similar to "Inheritance." Everyone couldn't help but worry about the fate of "Inheritance," but only Yu Zaizao was eager to try, displaying an untimely excitement.
Episode 8 Recap
Hearing that Master Li declined the interview, everyone was greatly angered. Yu Zaizao proposed an alternative plan to interview another master of jade carving, but Wang Xining refused. The two had differing opinions, and Wang Xining was displeased. Gu Shiyong was very dissatisfied with Yu Zaizao for offending Wang Xining, but Yu Zaizao paid no attention to Gu's admonition and went to reconcile with Wang Xining with a smiling face. Wang Xining, despite being ridiculed by the popular host Wan Sihua and the producer Fang Quan, remained unfazed and insisted on staying to continue the filming. Late at night, the production team worked overtime to discuss, and Yuan Jiaying, who received the news, rushed to help. Yuan Jiaying arranged for everyone to interview another master of jade carving, Master Wang, and instructed them to go to the studio for filming the next morning. Meanwhile, she personally went to Yunnan to meet with Master Wang, who was on a business trip, to complete her personal interview. However, Yu Zaizao bluntly expressed that this filming plan would not succeed. Yuan Jiaying continued to chase after Yu Zaizao, and the two unexpectedly saw Wang Xining quietly meeting with her biological son in the corridor. Witnessing this scene, Yuan Jiaying reminded Yu Zaizao and her colleagues to maintain a safe distance. However, Yu Zaizao completely disregarded it.
Episode 9 Recap
Yu Zaizao invited Tao Tang to appear in the drama "Xizhongxi." Although Tao Tang was reluctant, he reluctantly agreed to make a cameo appearance. However, nervousness caused Tao Tang to forget his lines one after another, creating a tense atmosphere on set. With the encouragement of the director and the support of Yu Zaizao, Tao Tang gradually found his rhythm. In the end, Yu Zaizao successfully portrayed the legend of Baoyu in the Ming and Qing dynasties, greatly impressing Gu Shiyong. Tao Tang's acting skills also received unanimous praise from everyone.
The new season of "Inheritance" was successfully launched and received great acclaim. The producer of "Intangible Heritage Stories," Fang Quan, vowed to make the Gu Shiyong team look good. Tao Tang took the opportunity to educate Yu Zaizao, emphasizing the importance of respecting the efforts and hard work of every ordinary person in the crew and getting along harmoniously with Yuan Jiaying.
Wang Xining narrowly escaped a traffic accident and suffered injuries to her face and legs of varying degrees. When the production team visited her in the hospital, they were surprised to see a familiar figure holding flowers—it was Mu Zongyun. Mu Zongyun awkwardly refused to admit his concern for Wang Xining, and everyone understood the situation, finding it amusing. While everyone believed that Wang Xining's accident was an accident, only Yu Zaizao firmly believed that it was related to the divorce case.
Episode 10 Recap
Yu Zaizao decided to feature museum ceramics in the fifth episode, with Yuan Jiaying assisting Tao Tang in shooting the inheritance and daily work of ancient ceramic restoration experts, focusing on Tang Sancai ceramics. Yu Zaizao led Group B to the home of renowned antique ceramic artist Yang Wan, who was reserved and immersed in her own artistic world. Her husband, Xiao Hong, doted on her and had a deep understanding of each of her works. Yu Zaizao accidentally discovered a mysterious attic in the Yang family's house. Just as she was about to open the door, Xiao Hong stopped her. Fortunately, Tao Tang appeared in time to explain the situation to Yu Zaizao, and only then did Xiao Hong agree to continue the filming with everyone. Yu Zaizao pointed out the significant differences in style between Yang Wan's works, and Xiao Hong informed her that Yang Wan had a twin sister named Yang Xuan, who was also highly skilled in ceramics. However, their styles were distinct, with Yang Xuan specializing in exquisite Ru ware, while Yang Wan excelled in the luxurious and elegant Jun ware. Unfortunately, Yang Xuan passed away in an accident, which deeply affected Yang Wan. In memory of her sister, Yang Wan turned her focus to the study of Ru ware, leading to the contrasting styles in her earlier and later works.
Episode 11 Recap
On the other side, the program's invited host, Wen Zhou, was intercepted by someone else, causing Yuan Jiaying, who was supposed to film the Tang Sancai ceramics, to lose the opportunity. However, Yu Zaizao said that even if Wang Xining was injured, she could still shoot perfectly. Wang Xining had injuries to her right face and right leg, so she remained quietly seated and told the story of Emperor Chenghua and the Chicken Cup in one scene.
The email with restored photos arrived, and on the computer screen, the photographs of Rong being strangled were displayed inch by inch, causing Yu Zaizao to contemplate while looking at the photo of Rong being strangled with the Yang sisters.
Yuan Jiaying believed that the latest episode featuring ceramics received great praise and suggested doing a sequel on pottery, but encountered opposition from everyone. Yu Zaizao saw the ancient murals and pottery figurine photos brought by Tao Tang and decided to overturn Yuan's idea and focus on restoring classical dance. Tao Tang introduced the National Folk Song and Dance Troupe, which was currently collaborating with Su Bo to restore classical dances from the Han and Tang dynasties. The troupe's principal dancer, Lu Feiyu, agreed to be interviewed. However, when she saw Yu Zaizao, she suddenly changed her mind and told everyone that she would never cooperate with someone who acted irresponsibly. At that moment, everyone realized that Yu Zaizao had actually studied under the same dance master, Feng Yunying, as Lu Feiyu.
Episode 12 Recap
Yu Zaizao suddenly disappeared, and everyone thought she was overwhelmed. The program faced the risk of being canceled, and Yuan Jiaying requested to take over the filming. Just when the program was in a stalemate, Feng Yunying, who was supposed to be on a field trip in Dunhuang, unexpectedly returned, surprising and delighting Lu Feiyu. Feng Yunying revealed the truth to Lu Feiyu. It turned out that she highly valued both Lu Feiyu and Yu Zaizao. However, Yu Zaizao's insensitivity to her surroundings affected her portrayal of dance characters and prevented her from becoming a qualified dance artist. In order to fully cultivate Lu Feiyu and to help Yu Zaizao open up and experience emotions, Feng Yunying encouraged Yu Zaizao to seek the assistance of a psychologist named Ye Fu Jun. This action greatly stimulated Lu Feiyu, who also admired Dr. Ye, causing a rift within the dance troupe. To further make Lu Feiyu feel the pain, Feng Yunying gave the role of character A to Yu Zaizao and assigned Lu Feiyu to dance character B. This incident was discovered by Xie Hui, a male partner who admired Lu Feiyu. In order to teach Yu Zaizao a lesson, he intentionally caused an accident during training, resulting in Yu Zaizao being thrown high in the air and landing directly on the ground, fracturing her tailbone.
After the incident, Professor Feng felt deeply guilty, and Yu Wangqing, overwhelmed with anger, took Yu Zaizao away in a fit of rage. To protect Lu Feiyu, Feng Yunying concealed the truth and only stated that Yu Zaizao gave up dancing after being injured. Lu Feiyu believed that Yu Zaizao had violated their initial promise to pursue a lifetime of dance, and a sense of resentment grew within her.
