A team of soldiers rode through the woods on horseback, led by a handsome young general named Chu Xuanchen. His stern face showed signs of fatigue after a fierce battle, leaving him and his soldiers exhausted. Meanwhile, at the Yun residence, Yun Ruoyue was arguing with her father. He demanded that she betray her fiancé, Chu Xuanchen, and steal a registry from him, claiming that this was the only way to change their fate.
Yun Ruoyue continued to argue, but her father bluntly stated that if not for the emperor's arranged marriage, Chu Xuanchen would never have been interested in her. Quietly touching her own face, Yun Ruoyue realized that her scarred visage was hidden beneath her veil. Meanwhile, Chu Xuanchen had returned victorious from his battles, only to be ambushed by assassins on the way back. As his soldiers fell one by one, Chu Xuanchen fought back, quickly dispatching the attackers and chasing after their leader as they fled.
The mastermind behind the assassination attempt was none other than Emperor Chu Yao of the Chu kingdom. Since his plan had failed, Chu Yao had no choice but to honor his promise and arrange for Chu Xuanchen's marriage. Yun Ruoyue was chosen as the main wife, while Nan Gongrou was chosen as the concubine. However, Yun Ruoyue was utterly confused upon entering the bridal carriage. She was originally a modern-day doctor who had been electrocuted while saving someone during a film shoot, and suddenly found herself in the role of Yun Ruoyue. Despite her reluctance to marry, her maid Xiaofeng advised her against rash actions, as defiance against imperial edicts could result in execution. So, Yun Ruoyue rode her horse straight into the wedding ceremony to get it over with as quickly as possible.
