In adult love, there is never a smooth road. Everyone views the battlefield of love with heightened vigilance, honing their skills, yet unaware that the only thing truly needed to triumph is sincerity.

This drama tells the story of young people in modern urban life who, in their search for love and self-discovery, face falls and failures without fear, ultimately gaining different kinds of growth. He Zhinan, who seeks love, and Han Su, who seeks a livelihood, embody the clash between emotion and reason, sparking an unexpected and unique twist in the story.

Recap

He Zhinan was almost late for work, so she hurried to get ready and dashed towards the company. Luckily, she made it just in time and wasn’t late. Sitting at her workstation, He Zhinan took a bite of a snack, and overheard her colleagues discussing the arrival of the new manager, Qu Yipeng. They were all talking about how handsome and gentle Qu Yipeng was, the ideal type for many girls. He Zhinan questioned how handsome he could really be.

One of the girls said that even J-sister liked him. Just as they were talking, J-sister arrived and told everyone to stop chatting and get to work. While He Zhinan was debating whether blueberry or lemon-flavored candy was tastier, Qu Yipeng arrived, and he told He Zhinan that the blueberry flavor was better. He Zhinan asked him if he was here for the lecture, offering to find him a seat.

Before she could finish, J-sister came over and pulled him away. He Zhinan’s good friend was having issues with her boyfriend after seven years of dating, just as they were approaching marriage. The boyfriend, trying to save money, replaced the real flowers they had planned with fake ones and even suggested that his girlfriend didn’t really want to marry him. This reminded He Zhinan of her own long-distance relationship with Gao Peng, her boyfriend of seven years.

Her friend, Sun Hanhan, told her that maybe long-distance relationships were better in some ways. He Zhinan replied that she was holding on to the beautiful memories to fight against time. While they were chatting, He Zhinan said she was going to grab something to eat. As she walked over, she spotted Qu Yipeng. He Zhinan could only gaze at him from a distance, too shy to approach.

Sun Hanhan asked her why she didn’t say hello, and He Zhinan replied that she was socially anxious and not very familiar with him. Sun Hanhan then mentioned that she had gotten a membership at a high-end gym, to which He Zhinan commented that the gym was quite expensive. Sun Hanhan explained that she joined in hopes of meeting high-quality men.

She went to the gym and was about to use the treadmill, but didn’t know how to turn it on. Just then, a man came over and helped her start it. After her workout, Sun Hanhan waited at the door, intending to talk to the man, but he just politely replied and left. Later, while eating, He Zhinan ran into Qu Yipeng again. Since there were no free tables, they had to share one.

When it was time to pay, He Zhinan wanted to ask the waiter to split the bill, but Qu Yipeng said that would be too much trouble and suggested she just send him her share later. He added that he didn’t mind treating her to the meal. As a result, they exchanged WeChat contacts. He Zhinan asked Sun Hanhan how she should send the money in a way that was polite yet cute.

After some thought, He Zhinan just sent a simple “Thank you,” and Qu Yipeng replied with an emoji. At home, Qu Yipeng was waiting for his girlfriend, Han Su, to come back, but he fell asleep while waiting. When Han Su returned, he got up and reheated the food for her. Han Su told Qu Yipeng to quickly finish writing his article because it was certain to get noticed.

Qu Yipeng complained that it was too late, but Han Su insisted that she would stay up with him. However, after taking a shower, Han Su found that Qu Yipeng had already fallen asleep. She ended up staying up all night to finish writing the article for him. The next day, Qu Yipeng suggested she take the day off, but Han Su refused, saying her meeting was too important to miss. Feeling helpless, Qu Yipeng left.

Xu Ying still hadn’t married her husband and had become single again. He Zhinan and her friends gathered for drinks, and Xu Ying, after getting drunk, mentioned that Gao Peng’s family was becoming wealthier. She said she should have agreed to marry him back then. He Zhinan asked what she meant, but her friends brushed it off, saying it was nothing.

After sending Xu Ying home, He Zhinan overheard a group of girls talking about how Gao Peng used to pursue Xu Ying, but she didn’t like him. They said that Gao Peng had invited them all to Kangding, but none of them had agreed to go, except for He Zhinan. Now that Gao Peng’s family was wealthy, they regretted not going. Hearing this, He Zhinan left in tears.

He Zhinan’s company was hosting an event, and Qu Yipeng had forgotten to RSVP. He asked He Zhinan what to do since the event was already full. She reassured him, saying that it was okay and he could just find her when he arrived the next day. Qu Yipeng thanked her warmly.

Early in the morning, Han Su went to see her supervisor, Lawyer Xu, and told her that she wanted to compete for the opportunity to go to Hong Kong. Lawyer Xu informed her that a candidate had already been chosen and suggested that she gain more experience here for now. Han Su, however, didn’t want to stay and expressed her desire for a promotion, insisting on going to Hong Kong.

Lawyer Xu brought up the issue of the language barrier, but Han Su immediately responded by speaking in Cantonese, explaining that she had been learning it for over a year. Seeing that Han Su was well-prepared, Lawyer Xu told her to submit the application materials. Lawyer Xu then asked her how she would manage being away for three years, to which Han Su confidently replied that Qu Yipeng would support her. With that, she happily left the office.

When Qu Yipeng arrived at He Zhinan’s company and was about to speak to her, J-sister came and pulled him away again. A nearby colleague commented that boys from small towns like him are drawn to successful women like J-sister, who can help their careers, and they don’t even have to take responsibility. He Zhinan knew she couldn’t compete, so she quietly lowered her head. Soon after, she received a message from Qu Yipeng thanking her.

He Zhinan replied that it was no big deal, no need to thank her. Sun Hanhan’s colleague, Mo Nika, had met an executive thanks to her, and now the two were about to get married. Mo Nika came to the office and handed out wedding candies to everyone. Xin-jie and Sun Hanhan chatted in the break room, joking that she had quickly turned a client into a husband. After finishing their conversation, both women came out beaming and congratulated Mo Nika.

Mo Nika said she had to thank Sun Hanhan because without her, she wouldn’t have met President Sun. After hearing that, Sun Hanhan and Xin-jie exchanged a look, clearly reluctant. Then, Qu Yipeng texted He Zhinan again, asking her to help him out. He said that if she didn’t accept his invitation, J-sister would keep pestering him. He Zhinan told him to set the time and place, and that she would reluctantly agree.

The two met at the restaurant, and Qu Yipeng said he wasn’t sure about her tastes, so he had chosen a Western restaurant. He Zhinan replied that since she was a local, she could eat anything. Qu Yipeng then asked if she lived with her parents. He Zhinan replied that she lived alone and that her parents had already bought a house for her.

Qu Yipeng mentioned that he came from the mountains and still had to rent a place here. After finishing their meal, Qu Yipeng offered to take He Zhinan home. It turned out they lived in the same neighborhood, right across from each other. Qu Yipeng had known this for a while, but he hadn’t told He Zhinan. Back home, He Zhinan called Sun Hanhan and mentioned that Qu Yipeng’s family was from Liuzhou, and how difficult his situation was.

Sun Hanhan called him a "phoenix man. " He Zhinan asked her not to label people so easily, saying that she admired how genuine Qu Yipeng was for sharing his background, and thought he was very down-to-earth. Just as she said this, she received a text from Qu Yipeng inviting her out for tiramisu. He Zhinan’s heart raced.

She thought back to the sweet times she had with Gao Peng and tearfully asked herself if she could ever return to those days. In the end, she decided to go out for tiramisu with Qu Yipeng. Meanwhile, Han Su’s colleague, Zhao Shan, was eager to go to Hong Kong and asked Han Su if she could withdraw her application.

Han Su explained that it wasn’t just her applying, and if Zhao Shan was strong enough, she could definitely get the spot. She refused to withdraw, and Zhao Shan angrily insulted her, saying she didn’t appreciate kindness. When Han Su got home, she found Qu Yipeng eating snail noodles. She asked him how the new energy project she had introduced to him was going. Qu Yipeng responded that nothing had really materialized yet.

Han Su then told him to open the window because the smell of the fermented bamboo shoots wasn’t going away. This led to an argument. Qu Yipeng felt that Han Su was looking down on him, and Han Su said she couldn’t stand seeing someone who hadn’t finished his work yet could still sleep soundly. While Han Su was diligently working, Qu Yipeng was playing games on the side, showing no ambition.

He knew his background wasn’t great, but instead of trying to improve himself, he had set his sights on He Zhinan, who already owned property locally. His phone reminded him that tomorrow was his fourth anniversary with Han Su, but he changed it to an outing for tiramisu.

While Han Su and Qu Yipeng were arguing, Han Su's mother suddenly video-called her, asking how to use the Tmall Genie that Qu Yipeng had bought for her. Han Su told her to check the manual, but her mother said she couldn’t understand it. Han Su, feeling frustrated, was on the verge of a breakdown. Qu Yipeng quickly took the phone and explained to Han Su’s mother how to use it.

When Han Su came back from the balcony, she saw that Qu Yipeng was sealing the jar of fermented bamboo shoots with plastic wrap. Han Su apologized to him, and Qu Yipeng admitted that he was also at fault. Han Su then informed him that she would be going on a business trip to Shanghai for three days.

Qu Yipeng carried the jar of fermented bamboo shoots out into the hallway and placed it in the fire extinguisher cabinet, while also changing the four-year anniversary reminder on his phone to a tiramisu date. Sun Hanhan had successfully completed her business trip, and everything had gone very well. She called her supervisor, Xin-jie, to ask if she could return the next day instead of taking a red-eye flight, as she was feeling exhausted.

Xin-jie agreed and told her to rest for the day. Sun Hanhan then messaged Mr. Zhou, who had helped her at the airport, asking if he had time for dinner so she could thank him for his help. Mr. Zhou agreed, and they arranged to have dinner together. Sun Hanhan even went shopping to buy a new outfit for the occasion.

Meanwhile, Han Su told Ceng Cheng about her application to go to Hong Kong, and Ceng Cheng asked if she had informed Qu Yipeng yet. Han Su replied that the application hadn’t been approved yet, and she’d tell him when the time came. Ceng Cheng then asked if she was going to Hong Kong to get back at someone. Han Su stayed silent.

Ceng Cheng inquired about her relationship with Qu Yipeng, and Han Su explained that in the past, she had admired him greatly, and a glance or smile from him used to thrill her. But now, she no longer felt that way. Ceng Cheng pointed out that back then, Han Su was just a graduate student, but she had grown rapidly, while Qu Yipeng was still stuck in place.

Ceng Cheng believed that Han Su’s feelings for Qu Yipeng had shifted from admiration to viewing him as an equal and now to scrutinizing him. Han Su acknowledged that Qu Yipeng was kind to her. After thinking it over, Han Su decided to apply for leave from work and go home, remembering that today was their four-year anniversary. Just as Qu Yipeng was about to ask He Zhinan to have tiramisu with him, Han Su unexpectedly returned home.

Han Su said that since it was their four-year anniversary, she had prepared a computer for him as a gift. Qu Yipeng admitted that he hadn’t prepared anything for her, but Han Su told him that all she wanted was for him to cook her a meal. However, instead of cooking, Qu Yipeng took her to the mall to buy a pair of shoes she had been eyeing for a long time.

Just as they were about to pay, Qu Yipeng received a call from his family, informing him that his father had been injured. Upon hearing this, Han Su realized that Qu Yipeng needed money, so she decided not to buy the shoes. When Qu Yipeng asked why she no longer wanted them, Han Su said she didn’t like them, though in reality, she had really wanted them.

Meanwhile, Sun Hanhan dressed up in a new dress and went to meet Lawyer Zhou. When Lawyer Zhou saw her, his eyes lit up. The two of them entered the dining room, but as soon as they did, Lawyer Zhou was invited to sit at another table, while Sun Hanhan sat at a different one. Throughout the meal, she kept watching Lawyer Zhou, while people kept asking for her WeChat.

He Zhinan, watching a video and eating cherries at the same time, accidentally swallowed a cherry pit. This reminded her of her first kiss with Gao Peng, when Gao Peng had also accidentally swallowed a cherry pit. She called him to ask if he remembered, but Gao Peng didn’t recall it at all and seemed to have forgotten their time together. He Zhinan was on the verge of tears and asked Gao Peng if he missed her.

Gao Peng said he did, but He Zhinan accused him of lying. She felt that Gao Peng no longer loved her, so she sent him an email, breaking up with him. In response, Gao Peng sent her numerous luxury gifts. Sun Hanhan was envious, but He Zhinan angrily threw everything out. Sun Hanhan quickly gathered the items and brought them back in, but He Zhinan planned to sell them.

When she saw a bracelet, she broke down crying because it was something Gao Peng had saved up for by skipping meals for half a semester to buy for her. He Zhinan told Sun Hanhan that, over time, Gao Peng’s gifts had become more and more expensive, but only that bracelet carried his love.

As for missing the tiramisu date with He Zhinan, Qu Yipeng lied to her, claiming that his father had been hospitalized, which was why he couldn’t make it.

While Sun Hanhan and He Zhinan were having a meal together, Sun Hanhan experienced stomach pain. He Zhinan suggested that since it's been a few days, she should get an appointment to see a doctor, but there were no available slots at the city hospital. She planned to book an appointment at a private hospital instead, but Sun Hanhan discouraged her, worrying that it might be too expensive and not covered by insurance.

Just as they were talking, Xin-jie called, asking Sun Hanhan to come over for something urgent. Despite her stomach pain, Sun Hanhan rushed to the office. After the work was done, Ceng Cheng brought them some food. While shaking hands with Sun Hanhan, she asked why her hands were so cold, and handed her a cup of hot milk tea. Sun Hanhan was overjoyed, as Ceng Cheng was someone she admired.

While running at the gym, Sun Hanhan suddenly fainted due to her stomach pain. When she regained consciousness, she found out that Mr. Zhou had already taken her to the hospital. The doctor informed her that she had appendicitis and needed surgery. Sun Hanhan insisted on waiting for her mother to arrive because she was scared. The doctor reassured her that it was a minor surgery, but her condition was serious and she couldn’t wait for her mother.

Lawyer Zhou went to take a call, but when he returned, the doctor told him that Sun Hanhan was missing. He quickly went out to search for her and found her hiding in a small room. Crying, Sun Hanhan called He Zhinan, telling her she was scared about the surgery and asked her to come keep her company. Lawyer Zhou overheard and reassured her that the surgeon was highly skilled, and he would also stay with her.

With Lawyer Zhou’s encouragement and support, Sun Hanhan successfully underwent surgery. He Zhinan called her, saying she was busy but would come as soon as she was free to keep her company. Just a moment before, Sun Hanhan had been pleading for He Zhinan to come quickly for comfort, but when she saw Lawyer Zhou enter the room, she told He Zhinan she could come the next day instead.

Lawyer Zhou raised the bed for her, and Sun Hanhan asked how much the medical bills were. Lawyer Zhou told her not to worry about it and to focus on recovery. Sun Hanhan insisted that since he had already saved her life, she couldn’t let him spend more money, and if he insisted, she would discharge herself from the hospital immediately. Seeing how firm she was, Lawyer Zhou relented and said they would discuss it when she felt better.

When He Zhinan arrived at the office, she was about to gossip with Keke. However, before they could say much, J-jie called Keke over and scolded her. When Keke returned, He Zhinan asked if she had angered J-jie. Keke said she had only made a few comments about Qu Yipeng, but J-jie had a thing for him, even though he was already spoken for.

Keke then mentioned that a few days ago, she had seen Qu Yipeng at the mall with a beautiful girl, and the two looked very close. Upon hearing this, He Zhinan became both angry and upset. Qu Yipeng was about to send a message to He Zhinan, but he noticed that he had already been blocked. He then remembered how Han Su wanted those high heels, but when he checked his bank balance, he felt conflicted.

Qu Yipeng went to the company’s finance department to ask for an advance of over two thousand yuan from his insurance. The finance officer told him to wait until next month, as everything for this month had already been processed. Qu Yipeng then used the excuse of a family illness to get the advance approved. Meanwhile, Han Su was hired by the company in Hong Kong.

She immediately went to the mall and bought the high heels she had been eyeing last time. When she returned to the office, her colleagues complimented her, saying she looked like she had a powerful aura. When Han Su got home, she hid the shoes, afraid that Qu Yipeng would see them. She told him that they should go out for a fancy dinner that night, her treat. However, Qu Yipeng suggested they save money and eat at home.

Han Su said she had something important to discuss. Qu Yipeng joked, asking if it was something serious enough that it required a dinner invitation—had she been unfaithful? Han Su countered, saying it was Qu Yipeng who had been unfaithful. When she entered the bedroom, she saw that Qu Yipeng had also bought her the same pair of high heels. Qu Yipeng told her that he always fulfilled his promises.

When he asked what she wanted to talk about, Han Su was so touched by his gesture that she said nothing and instead went to prepare a meal for him. Later, after some business-related drinking, Sun Hanhan was feeling unwell. Seeing her discomfort, Ceng Cheng quickly made her a cup of hot ginseng tea.

Lawyer Zhou had planned to pick up Sun Hanhan, but she told him she was done and asked him to come get her, though she hadn’t received a reply. Ceng Cheng remarked that her husband had come to pick her up and suggested Sun Hanhan come along with her. To Sun Hanhan’s surprise, her "husband" turned out to be Lawyer Zhou. Furious, she immediately discharged herself from the hospital.

Ceng Cheng later asked Han Su if she had told Qu Yipeng about her move to Hong Kong. Han Su replied that she didn’t know how to bring it up.

Han Su bought a lot of groceries and returned home to cook. When Qu Yipeng came back, he saw that Han Su had prepared a huge meal. He asked her what the occasion was for making so many dishes, and Han Su told him to wash his hands and sit down to try her cooking. Qu Yipeng went to the bedroom and saw two large suitcases packed, which immediately put him in a bad mood.

However, he still sat down as if nothing was wrong. Han Su then told him that she might be going to Hong Kong. She explained that Sister Shan was originally supposed to go, but since she had something come up, the company decided to send her instead. Qu Yipeng asked how the salary was, and Han Su replied that it would double. She then asked if he supported her decision to go.

Qu Yipeng said that doubling the salary was a great opportunity, so why wouldn’t he support her? Han Su asked what he would do if she left, and Qu Yipeng said it wouldn’t be a problem for him. However, he mentioned that it might be difficult to handle the rent alone since they had signed a one-year lease, and breaking it now would probably incur extra costs. Upon hearing this, Han Su felt deeply disappointed.

It wasn’t their relationship he was concerned about—it was the rent. Han Su told him that she could visit frequently, but Qu Yipeng said it wouldn’t matter; they could just stay in touch via WeChat. Hearing this, Han Su’s eyes filled with tears. After dinner, Han Su continued packing the rest of her things, and Qu Yipeng suggested leaving the winter clothes in the closet. Han Su replied that it was fine, and she would pack them as well.

Qu Yipeng asked if she was packing now because she intended to leave for good later. They both fell silent. Qu Yipeng sat in front of his computer, staring at the screen. Han Su took out the pair of shoes that Qu Yipeng had bought for her. He asked why she wasn’t taking the shoes with her. Han Su explained that she had already bought a pair.

When Qu Yipeng asked when she had done so, Han Su said she had gone shopping during her lunch break a few days ago and, seeing the shoes, realized she still liked them, so she bought them. Han Su added that the pair he bought was new and unworn, and she suggested he return them, mentioning that she had called the store and confirmed that they could be returned.

She asked if he still had the receipt, and Qu Yipeng said he did. Han Su nodded and then left. The next day, after seeing Han Su off, Qu Yipeng sent a WeChat message to He Zhinan, asking where she was, only to find that he was still blocked. Taking the initiative, he went to He Zhinan’s building and saw her getting picked up by a driver.

This confirmed his suspicion that He Zhinan was a rich girl, although he didn’t know that it was actually her colleague offering her a ride. Qu Yipeng followed He Zhinan to the supermarket and deliberately created a “chance encounter. ” When He Zhinan saw him, she was angry and walked away. She said that he had a girlfriend and still came to find her. Qu Yipeng then told her that they had broken up.

He invited He Zhinan to go eat tiramisu with him, and she asked why they had broken up. Qu Yipeng said it was because he had fallen for someone else—he had developed feelings for her. He Zhinan asked why he liked her, noting that his ex-girlfriend was rumored to be very beautiful. Qu Yipeng admitted that she was, but said he found He Zhinan to be “cute.

” As soon as she heard this, He Zhinan got angry and walked off, knowing that “cute” wasn’t the same as love. Unsure of how he had upset her again, Qu Yipeng hurried after her to explain, but He Zhinan wouldn’t listen and kept walking ahead. Qu Yipeng ran up, grabbed her, and kissed her on the cheek. This made He Zhinan stop being angry, and the two of them started kissing in the middle of the street.

When Qu Yipeng dropped her off at her building, He Zhinan asked if he wanted to come up for tea. Qu Yipeng said things were moving too fast and that he wanted to savor the moment. Because of this gesture, Qu Yipeng gained even more points in He Zhinan’s heart. Later, He Zhinan attended Sun Hanhan’s scarf exhibition and said she wanted to take pictures to send to “her Qu Yipeng.

” Sun Hanhan teased her, asking since when he became “hers,” to which He Zhinan replied that it was only a matter of time. While they were talking, Sun Hanhan received a text from Zhou Bin asking to meet, and he had also sent her a scarf to her office. Sun Hanhan went to return the scarf to Zhou Bin, telling him not to contact her anymore.

Zhou Bin then told her that he had already divorced Ceng Cheng, even showing her the divorce certificate. Sun Hanhan forgave him, and the two went to have dinner together. Meanwhile, Han Su, now in Hong Kong, reconnected with her university classmate, Alex. Alex mentioned that his friend Gao Peng had recently broken up and wanted to introduce him to Han Su. Back at home, Qu Yipeng ran into the cleaning lady, who asked about his pretty girlfriend. Worried that the truth might come out, Qu Yipeng ended up filing a complaint against her.

Han Su arrived in Hong Kong and reported to Lawyer Hu, speaking in her less-than-fluent Cantonese. Lawyer Hu asked her where she had learned Cantonese, and Han Su said she learned it by watching TV shows and listening to music. Lawyer Hu then told her that she also spoke Mandarin, making Han Su awkwardly admit that her Cantonese wasn't very good.

Lawyer Hu reassured her, saying it was fine and that she too struggled when she first learned Mandarin, but with more practice, it would improve. Lawyer Hu explained that she had originally planned to have Han Su familiarize herself with the work alongside a colleague, but the colleague had gone on a business trip to Shanghai.

She then told Han Su that she would have to take over a case right away, to which Han Su confidently replied that she could handle it. Han Su reported to her colleagues, who showed her to her workstation, and she greeted everyone. Meanwhile, the cleaning lady who had been reported by Qu Yipeng lost her job. Qu Yipeng saw her carrying her belongings as she prepared to leave. Feeling guilty, he gave her some of his old clothes.

The cleaning lady, unaware that it was Qu Yipeng who had reported her, complained that she didn’t know who the scoundrel was that had cost her the job. Qu Yipeng said nothing and simply told her to accept the clothes. The landlord then brought prospective tenants to view Qu Yipeng’s apartment. The landlord remarked, “It’s just a breakup, why return the apartment? Are you afraid of being reminded of her? ” Qu Yipeng remained silent.

Just as he was about to see the landlord and the tenants out, he spotted He Zhinan. He Zhinan was on her way out to throw away the trash, which startled Qu Yipeng, and he quickly shut the door. The landlord thought his behavior was odd, and Qu Yipeng texted him, claiming he suddenly needed to use the restroom. Peeking through the door's peephole, he watched as He Zhinan finished throwing out the trash and headed back home.

She caught a whiff of a foul smell as she walked past his door, and as she got closer, the smell intensified. It turned out to be the stench of pickled bamboo shoots that Qu Yipeng had left in the hallway. Wrinkling her nose in disgust, He Zhinan hurried back into her apartment, leaving Qu Yipeng feeling even more insecure. Later, after working overtime, Han Su was about to leave the office when she realized the main door was locked.

She called out, asking if anyone was around. Hearing her, Uncle Zhong, the security guard, came out and told her that the door automatically locks at midnight, suggesting that she use the side entrance. Han Su then asked Uncle Zhong if there were any good places nearby to grab a late-night snack, and Uncle Zhong gave her a few recommendations.

Meanwhile, He Zhinan and Qu Yipeng went on another date, and as he walked her home, he wrapped his arm around her waist and mentioned that he was planning to move. Surprised, He Zhinan asked where he was moving to. Qu Yipeng told her he was planning to move to the neighborhood next to hers so that he could come over and cook for her.

Shocked, He Zhinan asked if he really knew how to cook, to which Qu Yipeng replied that he had many skills she didn’t know about yet. He Zhinan then invited him to her place to try the milk tea she had recently learned to make, and as soon as they got home, they couldn’t resist kissing each other. In a hurry, He Zhinan rushed to the bedside and turned over a photo of her and Gao Peng.

After their passionate moment, Qu Yipeng made instant noodles for He Zhinan. While they ate, Qu Yipeng opened up about being a kid from the countryside, trying to gain her sympathy by playing the “pity card” because he was afraid she would look down on him if she noticed the smell on him. He Zhinan assured him that she had never thought less of him and that she actually found him impressive.

Touched by her words, Qu Yipeng told her that meeting her was the luckiest thing that ever happened to him. He Zhinan agreed, saying she felt the same way. The next day, He Zhinan happily went to work. While at work, she received a video call from Sun Hanhan. Sun Hanhan told her that she and Zhou Bin had gone to Sanya for a trip.

She mentioned that she had casually said she wanted to see the ocean, and Zhou Bin arranged everything. She didn’t even pack anything—all her things were bought there. After chatting for a bit, He Zhinan told her that she had to get back to work. After work, He Zhinan was in her neighborhood feeding the cats when she heard a parrot behind her calling out “Baby. ” She turned around and saw Gao Peng.

He told her that he had run away from home and asked if they could avoid breaking up. He Zhinan said no, but Gao Peng refused to leave her house. Meanwhile, Qu Yipeng texted He Zhinan, asking what she wanted to eat that night. She replied that she had gone back to her parents’ house. However, when Qu Yipeng got home, he heard a man singing in He Zhinan’s apartment. He texted her, asking if she had come back home, but she continued to insist that she hadn’t.
