Xu Yao stepped in to clear the air for Yu Jiaen, claiming in front of many people that she was his wife. He embraced her tightly, and Amy quickly went upstairs to inform Lu Zijie. Lu Zijie then escorted his wife away. Su Yi witnessed the whole situation, feeling hurt but unable to question Xu Yao. Su Yi decided not to communicate with Xu Yao at this moment. They returned to the company before discussing the matter.

When Yu Jiaen arrived at the company, her colleagues were gossiping about her, but fortunately, Zhang Qing came to her defense. Yu Jiaen hadn't been with the company for long, and Lu Zijie and his wife had already been separated for over a year, so this had nothing to do with Yu Jiaen.

Lu Zijie was a responsible person, and he proactively approached Yu Jiaen to apologize. He offered to write an apology letter if she needed one to clear her name through public notice by the property management. The two began arguing about who loved whom more. They reminisced about their past during their initial stages of dating. Finally, Xu Yao took out his old phone, filled with text messages from Yu Jiaen begging him to come back. He thought this would prove that Yu Jiaen loved him more, but it backfired. Yu Jiaen was deeply hurt. She realized that Xu Yao knew about her moments of desperation when she had set aside her dignity, thinking that if he saw those messages, he would feel sorry for her and come back. However, he remained indifferent all these years. Xu Yao hadn't even had a chance to explain that he had only recently seen those messages when Yu Jiaen got angry and left.

Li Nianhuan and Xu Wensong's wedding anniversary was approaching. Xu Wensong had bought her a new phone, but Li Nianhuan had always used his account. This time, when she logged into her account, she found synchronized photos that revealed Xu Wensong had booked a hotel room on their anniversary. Li Nianhuan intentionally called him while he was with Xiaoli. Li Nianhuan had changed; when a woman truly felt disappointed, she wouldn't create a scene. She decided to be brave; she couldn't go on like this. She dressed up and went to the hotel to find Xu Wensong. According to the hotel's regulations, they couldn't disclose guests' privacy, so she lied, claiming to be Xu Wensong's cousin. She said that Xu Wensong had undergone heart bypass surgery and had contacted her to come to the hotel for some rest but couldn't be reached now. The front desk considered her request reasonable and, after Li Nianhuan provided Xu Wensong's ID number, gave her the room number. Inside the room, she indeed found what she had expected and took photos. She remained composed and immediately decided to file for divorce from Xu Wensong. Xu Wensong pressured her to delete the photos, and in the struggle for the phone, he accidentally pushed Li Nianhuan down the stairs. Seeing that she was bleeding, he was too scared to move.

Yu Jiaen arranged to meet Su Yi at a coffee shop to clear things up. She wanted to ensure that this wouldn't affect their cooperation. Hao Chenshi witnessed the meeting and thought they might end up arguing, so he quickly informed Xu Yao. Xu Yao rushed down but was relieved to find that they were having a peaceful conversation. During the conversation, both Xu Yao and Yu Jiaen received photos sent by Li Nianhuan but couldn't reach her by phone. Later, they learned from Li Nianhuan's parents that she had been taken to the hospital. Yu Jiaen intended to return to Chengdu to be with Li Nianhuan, so Xu Yao asked her to go back to the company and request leave from Zhang Qing. He would arrange the earliest flight to Chengdu.
