Xu Yao wasn't favoring Yu Jiaen; he was considering it from the company's operational perspective. Su Yi was pressuring Hao Chenshi, who was in charge of the marketing department, and it wasn't suitable. This was a sign of the partners drifting apart. Hao Chenshi heard their argument outside the door and took the opportunity to ask Xu Yao to leave. Su Yi also spoke her mind; she didn't care which marketing company handled it; she cared about Yu Jiaen. In fact, Xu Yao had known for a while that Su Yi liked him. Since she found out about his relationship with Yu Jiaen, her attitude towards Yu Jiaen had changed, and Xu Yao had noticed. Li Nianhuan was about to come to Beijing, and Xu Yao helped her find an apartment in his own neighborhood. Li Nianhuan's mother paid the rent for her. Li Nianhuan and Yu Jiaen were having a video call when Li Nianhuan's mother entered the room. She hoped Yu Jiaen would take care of Li Nianhuan and even tried to matchmake Yu Jiaen and Xu Yao. She intentionally asked Yu Jiaen to help Li Nianhuan buy some household items to create an opportunity for Xu Yao to meet her. Li Nianhuan understood her mother's intentions but didn't reveal them.

Zhang Qing's mother, seeing how well-equipped Zhang Qing's kitchen was, thought of asking her to buy things for Zhang Qiang. She also complained about Hao Chenshi, thinking he wasn't reliable. Zhang Qing brought up the issue and deliberately led the conversation. Sure enough, she found out that her mother had asked for a dowry from Hao Chenshi. In anger, she told Zhang Qiang that if he couldn't afford it, he shouldn't get married. He shouldn't expect to receive a penny from her in the future. Then, she dressed and went to the office to work overtime.

Yu Jiaen went to a furniture store and, while looking at a sofa, remembered the time when she and Xu Yao had shopped for furniture together. Coincidentally, Xu Yao saw Yu Jiaen lost in thought and asked her if she was thinking about something. Yu Jiaen collected her thoughts and didn't say much. Then she received a call from Lu Zijie, who was on a business trip in Hangzhou. Du Du had fallen and was crying at home. He begged Yu Jiaen to visit his house and take Du Du to the hospital. Xu Yao, knowing that Yu Jiaen was going to Lu Zijie's house, felt jealous, thinking she was overstepping boundaries by getting involved with someone who had just divorced. Yu Jiaen was very angry and believed that he had no right to meddle in her affairs.

At Lu Zijie's house, Du Du immediately hugged Yu Jiaen and called her "mom," which surprised Yu Jiaen but also made her happy that Du Du liked her. Zhang Qing took her mother to the train station. She wasn't heartless; she knew she hadn't spent much time with her mother recently due to her busy schedule. So she gave her mother some money, hoping she and her father could use it, but not to give it to Zhang Qiang. Zhang Qiang was already an adult and needed to support himself. Her mother understood the difficulties Zhang Qing faced in Beijing and decided not to trouble her further regarding Zhang Qiang's matters. She and her husband would figure something out.
