Xue Lingyi noticed the maids preparing to serve wine to Wu Yueyun. She instructed the maid Chunyu to check the wine and subtly tampered with it. Gong Waner, observing from behind, saw Xue Lingyi's actions. Aware of Gong Waner's presence, Xue Lingyi deliberately let her believe that she was tampering with the drinks. She took satisfaction in the thought that if Rong Xiu discovered Wu Yueyun and Gong Waner deceiving her, he would not spare them. During the meal, Rong Xiu asked Wu Yueyun about her life in the mansion, and she shyly replied that it was good. Meanwhile, the maids took the opportunity to switch the wine, and Gong Waner assisted Wu Yueyun.
Xue Lingyi, Rong Xiu, and Gong Waner had already consumed the wine. Wu Yueyun hesitated, and Xue Lingyi, sensing her suspicion, intentionally provoked her.
