Murong Jinghe entered the palace overnight to meet with the Emperor, revealing that Murong Xuanlie was the true instigator behind the Qingzhou rebellion. To secure the position of Crown Prince, Murong Xuanlie had forged military orders, using Zhang Yin's Mo Vein death warriors to impersonate the Wei North Army.

After setting fires, he had his former strategist Li Qing besiege the camp, turning the loyal Wei North Army into a force of criminals, causing tens of thousands of innocent people to perish in the flames. The Crown Prince refused to admit his actions, instead accusing the King of Jing of trying to seize the position of Crown Prince.

However, when Murong Jinghe directly stated that Li Qing and Zhang Yin were still alive and presented their crimes, the Emperor was deeply shocked and fainted. The imperial physician initially diagnosed it as a stroke, but Murong Jinghe suspected it was more than that and feared the Crown Prince was taking a dangerous gamble. At that moment, Liu Zhong arrived with the Feathered Forest Guards, surrounding the Yanming Hall and forcing both the Crown Prince and King of Jing to leave.

Seeing this, Murong Jinghe sensed there was more going on and felt the urgent need to uncover the cause of the Emperor’s illness. The Eastern Palace ordered the palace gates sealed, while Mei Lin, disguised as a servant of Consort Yan, stayed behind in the palace to gather information and be ready to relay any news immediately to Murong Jinghe.

Upon learning of these events, Yin Luomei ordered the Southern Pacification Army to be on high alert and then went to Fengyi Palace to visit her aunt. Consort Yin, in Yin Luomei's presence, spoke poorly of the King of Jing, accusing others of throwing dirt on Fengyi Palace and hindering the Crown Prince’s plans to establish a new dynasty.

She even expressed that she hoped the Emperor wouldn’t wake up so that the Crown Prince could ascend to the throne and return the military seal to the Yin family. Yin Luomei was taken aback by her aunt’s words, and Consort Yin openly admitted that her relationship with the Emperor was purely political; the members of the Yin family in his harem were mere pawns for preserving the family’s honor.

Wang Quan reported to the Crown Prince that all traces had been carefully erased, leaving no way for anyone to investigate further, but he worried that Liu Zhong had already aligned with the King of Jing. Taking a risky path, Murong Xuanlie refrained from sharing his plans even with his allies, planning instead to rally support only before his ascension, and thus strongly pressured Yue Qin to take his side.

Yue Qin understood that direct confrontation was unwise, so he agreed to a deal with the Crown Prince: if his sister Zi Gu could live a peaceful life in the Palace of Blossoms, he would not oppose the Crown Prince. Murong Xuanlie readily agreed.

Although Mei Lin was still in the Palace of Blossoms, Murong Xuanlie did not want to drive the Young Lord of Xi Yan to the King of Jing’s side and, for the moment, refrained from acting against Mei Lin. The next morning, Liu Zhong publicly proclaimed an imperial edict, with the Crown Prince now officially holding power as regent.

The Imperial Censorate submitted a report stating that, as the future Crown Princess, Yin Luomei’s frequent inspections of the Southern Pacification Army’s camp were improper. Murong Xuanlie responded that the military seal was already in his hands, while Yin Luomei clarified that she would perform her final duty at the camp in two days. Although Murong Jinghe felt dissatisfied, he had no choice but to go along with the consensus.

Initially, Murong Jinghe wanted to summon Yin Luomei for a conversation, but the Crown Prince intercepted the letter. Yin Luomei took the initiative to visit the Crown Prince, curious about his spies in the General’s residence. Murong Xuanlie explained that it was to protect the Yin family, and Yin Luomei believed him.

As a result, she declared to Murong Xuanlie that, from then on, he alone held her heart, and no matter what he chose to do, she would stand by him unwaveringly. However, Murong Xuanlie was aware that Yin Luomei saw him as noble and kind, oblivious to his true nature.

He then went to Fengyi Palace himself, using the palace’s incense that had poisoned the Emperor as leverage to threaten Consort Yin, intending to use this to fully control Yin Luomei and prevent her from leaving him. Mei Lin happened to overhear this conversation from outside and skillfully obtained a sample of the incense powder from Fengyi Palace. She also saw Zi Gu by the lotus pond, praying for the Emperor’s recovery.

With Mei Lin’s encouragement, Zi Gu agreed to help Mei Lin leave the palace smoothly. Mei Lin quickly relayed this information to Murong Jinghe, and a doctor confirmed that the incense originated from Xi Yan and was Yue Qin’s unique creation. Yue Qin then unexpectedly visited the King of Jing’s residence, where Murong Jinghe, on Mei Lin’s behalf, met him.

After some negotiation, Yue Qin agreed to provide the incense recipe to Murong Jinghe but demanded that Mei Lin be entrusted to him, claiming only he could truly protect her.
