Kill My Sins Episode 24 Recap
> Kill My Sins Recap
A woman dressed in white, wearing a veil, came to Anxin Pavilion to seek Ye Ping'an's help with a knot in her heart, claiming that the knot was caused by Ye Ping'an. She lifted her veil, revealing horrific burn scars on her face, and then rolled up her sleeve to show large burn marks on her arm as well.
The woman accused Ye Ping'an of deceiving her into entering an abandoned mansion years ago, where she had suffered severe burns in a fire and ended up looking like a half-human, half-ghost. If she hadn’t seen the announcement about the Censor’s case, she wouldn’t have known that the renowned Ye Xin Yi, who had gained such fame, was the same girl who had caused her misery all those years ago. These words deeply pained Ye Ping'an.
The woman left, and Ye Ping'an was overwhelmed by guilt and self-blame, unable to calm herself for a long time. Ni Chang came to Anxin Pavilion, noticing something was off with Ye Ping'an. However, Ye Ping'an merely said she hadn’t slept well the previous night. Yuan Shaocheng was becoming more and more favored by King Kangping. King Kangping advised Wu Xianer to visit her mother in the mountains, but Wu Xianer declined, citing her busy official duties.
Yuan Shaocheng persuaded her with just a few words, and she agreed to go up the mountain the next day. Ye Ping'an had been drinking heavily, often seeing strange hallucinations, like seeing Ruan Qin appear before her in a mysterious manner, only for her to vanish just as strangely.
The next day, with light rain falling, Yuan Shaocheng and Wu Xianer went up the mountain to visit the Taoist Master Su Xuan, who was also the wife of King Kangping and Wu Xianer’s biological mother. Yuan Shaocheng had never expected that the grand wife of King Kangping would live in such a small mountain retreat. Wu Xianer was unfazed.
She thought it was more unusual that Yuan Shaocheng, who came from a humble background, had become a young official in the Court of Judicial Review. Yuan Shaocheng was curious why she would marry someone from such a background, and Wu Xianer explained that for her, marriage could be seen as a transaction, as long as both parties were willing. Master Su Xuan showed little affection for Wu Xianer.
After speaking only a few words to her, he began to send them off, not intending to keep them for a meal. Ye Ping'an entrusted the rental contract for the medical clinic to Ni Chang, saying she planned to travel and become a wandering doctor. She intended to leave that very day. Ni Chang sang a newly written tune for Ye Ping'an before she left the capital. That evening, Ni Chang thought back on Ye Ping'an’s words and grew increasingly uneasy.
The woman in white from earlier seemed familiar. Ni Chang recalled having seen her at Wan Guo Xiang, where she worked as one of Hua Niang’s secretive apprentices. The woman was skilled in many arts, specializing in catering to the desires of the wealthy and powerful. Ye Ping'an hadn’t taken Ning Shen incense with her, which further confirmed Ni Chang's suspicions. She then went to Yuan Shaocheng for help.
Yuan Shaocheng immediately arranged for Gu Wenyu to investigate the background of the woman with a mole on her left cheek at Wan Guo Xiang. From Ni Chang, he also learned that Ye Ping'an might be having suicidal thoughts. As Ni Chang had feared, Ye Ping'an went to the place where Ruan Qin had tried to take her own life by jumping off a cliff. Just as she was about to step forward, Yuan Shaocheng arrived in time.
In truth, Ye Ping'an had already healed her heart disease, but Yuan Shaocheng’s advice helped her see things more clearly and completely dispelled any suicidal thoughts. Yuan Shaocheng explained that the woman who had deceived her was not a victim of the Censor’s case, but rather an apprentice from Wan Guo Xiang. Ye Ping'an returned to the capital and investigated further, learning that the woman’s name was Yao Zhen.
Using a bell, Ye Ping'an forced Yao Zhen to confess that Hua Niang had coerced her into deceiving Ye Ping'an. However, before Ye Ping'an and Yuan Shaocheng could confront Hua Niang, Hua Niang died from poisoning. Ye Ping'an realized that those behind Hua Niang were afraid of her, and she decided to continue investigating the Censor’s case.
Ye Ping'an’s first step was to investigate the three main judges of the Censor’s case from the Three Courts' Tribunal and determine whether they had been bribed. She sought out Sun Xizheng, learning that two of the three main judges had already passed away, and one, named Lu Wei, was still alive. Lu Wei was a former official in the previous dynasty, known for his integrity, and had been friends with Yu Qian.
Logically, when Yu Qian had been accused, Lu Wei should have delayed the judgment on the grounds of insufficient evidence. But why had he convicted Yu Qian so quickly, within just one day? Although Yuan Shaocheng did not agree with Ye Ping'an involving herself in such dangerous matters again, he still told her that Lu Wei had retired and was living in Yu'an County. Ye Ping'an went to Yu'an County to secretly observe Lu Wei.
After Lu Wei's granddaughter and son-in-law left with their child, Ye Ping'an disguised herself as a woman who had been robbed and asked to stay at Lu Wei’s house for the night.
