Kill My Sins Episode 29 Recap
> Kill My Sins Recap
Wu Youjing had already sent people to erase all traces in the ledger, and there was no longer any evidence to prove that he had been involved in smuggling salt and passing it off as official salt. Fortunately, Wu Youjing had suspected He Maoshan to be the traitor, and had never suspected Yuan Shaocheng. Up until now, Ye Ping'an finally understood the meaning behind the Emperor’s words from a year ago.
When the Emperor ascended the throne, it coincided with turmoil within the court and both internal and external troubles. The Emperor needed Wu Youjing to keep the Li family in check, while also relying on his son, Wu Ankang, to defend the northern border. It was only for this reason that the Emperor had tolerated Wu Youjing’s control over official salt.
But Wu Youjing, instead of being cautious, had continued to win over court officials and coveted the position of Crown Prince. He even went as far as selling smuggled salt as official salt. This had already crossed the Emperor’s bottom line. If Wu Youjing now attempted to use his son to earn military achievements, it would only make things worse. Ye Ping'an told Yuan Shaocheng to hold off on taking any further action for the time being.
She said that whoever could remain calm now would be the one to win in the end. Two months later, news of a great victory from the northern frontier spread, and the court was filled with excitement. The Emperor issued an order to reward the soldiers.
Wu Xianer had followed the Emperor for fourteen years, and he led her into his inner chamber, where he mentioned the case against the Imperial Censor and the issue of the salt prices being manipulated by King Kangping. Wu Xianer, panicked, kneeled and pleaded for her father’s sake.
The Emperor said that he would not make things difficult for King Kangping, and once Wu Ankang returned to the capital, Wu Youjing would be granted the title of Imperial Tutor and his reputation would be protected for the rest of his life. Wu Xianer, upon hearing this, relayed the news to Wu Youjing, who resolved to plot against the Emperor.
When his son Wu Ankang returned to the capital, Wu Youjing planned to use his son’s military power and join forces with General Xian Guangping’s Left Yulin Army to carry out a conspiracy. Yuan Shaocheng was preparing to meet Ye Ping'an when he was summoned by King Kangping’s people first. Yuan Shaocheng noticed that the guards at King Kangping’s residence had been changed, so he mentioned the "treasure edict" to Su Xuan Zhen Ren.
Su Xuan Zhen Ren quickly understood that Yuan Shaocheng was reminding her to help. King Kangping suspected that Yuan Shaocheng was behind He Maoshan’s actions, so he offered Yuan Shaocheng a cup of poisoned wine. Yuan Shaocheng refused to drink it and also refused to accept the accusation that Wu Youjing had pinned on him. To gain King Kangping’s trust, Yuan Shaocheng revealed that he knew Ye Ping'an’s whereabouts.
Ye Ping'an had been waiting in Mangou for a long time, but Yuan Shaocheng didn’t come. Instead, he sent word that they should change the meeting location to the bamboo forest in the eastern suburbs. Ye Ping'an, sensing something was amiss, ordered Ni Chang to follow her secretly. Ni Chang soon discovered that Ye Ping'an was blindfolded and taken away. Through Yuan Shaocheng’s few words, Su Xuan Zhen Ren deduced that Ye Ping'an was in danger.
She also heard that Wu Xianer had ordered someone to take her to the Fengrhao Salt Shop. Su Xuan Zhen Ren immediately sent a map to Yuan Shaocheng’s residence, marking the location of the Fengrhao Salt Shop. Su Xuan Zhen Ren tried to persuade Wu Xianer to turn back, but Wu Xianer refused to listen. Wu Youjing then presented a letter of divorce to Wei Xuanmin, officially ending their relationship.
From that point on, whatever treasonous actions Wu Youjing committed would have no connection to Wei Xuanmin. Wu Xianer arrived at the underground prison of the Fengrhao Salt Shop, where she and Ye Ping'an played a game of chess, each making three moves to bring the game to an end. After three moves, Ye Ping'an lost, but she said she could peer into dreams, and she had seen the ambition in Wu Xianer's dreams. Wu Xianer dismissed it, unconcerned.
Wu Youjing had already sent a letter to Wu Ankang, believing that his son would follow his instructions in order to protect the Wu family. Although Wu Xianer was Wu Youjing’s daughter, she was deeply reluctant to help her brother ascend the throne. After reading the letter, Wu Ankang was torn, even contemplating dying in battle at Mang Mountain to preserve his reputation as a loyal son.
Wu Xianer requested permission to organize the grand banquet for the Shangyuan Festival, and the Emperor gladly agreed. Wu Xianer informed Xian Guangping that the Thunderfire weapons he had secretly produced were almost ready, and that they could begin transporting them from today. Xian Guangping, who had been working alongside her, believed that she was more suited to rule than King Kangping.
