> Kill My Sins Recap

During the Shangyuan Festival, Wu Xianer was in charge of organizing the grand banquet at Qianqiu Pavilion, unaware that her conversation with Xian Guangping had been overheard. Li Jun had been keeping a close eye on Wu Youjing and discovered that he had entered the Fengrhao Salt Shop with a group of men. Li Jun followed with one of his subordinates, knocked out the shopkeeper, and found a secret passage hidden beneath the sacks of salt.

Li Jun ordered his subordinate, San Dao, to bring the others, while he entered the secret passage first. Beneath the Fengrhao Salt Shop, Li Jun discovered sulfur, and King Kangping appeared, intending to win Li Jun over to his side. Li Jun firmly refused, claiming his loyalty was to the Emperor. At that moment, San Dao appeared from behind and stabbed Li Jun in the back, betraying him and aligning himself with King Kangping.

King Kangping instructed San Dao to deal with Li Jun, and thinking Li Jun was dead, San Dao dragged him toward the pool. However, Li Jun suddenly opened his eyes and killed San Dao in retaliation. Meanwhile, Yuan Hesheng and Ni Chang had entered the secret passage beneath the Fengrhao Salt Shop and discovered a network of hidden tunnels. They rescued Ye Ping'an, bringing Li Jun with them and helping to bandage his wounds.

Li Jun was confused as to why Ye Ping'an would save him, to which she explained that she was a healer. Li Jun revealed that King Kangping was secretly hoarding soldiers and manufacturing Thunderfire weapons, plotting a rebellion. Ye Ping'an knew they had to quickly find Guo Siqing to stop the Emperor from going to Qianqiu Pavilion. However, on their way to find Guo Siqing, they were blocked.

The ruthless Li Jun, severely injured, delayed the attackers by facing the killers sent by King Kangping alone. Wu Xianer, upon learning that Ye Ping'an had escaped, immediately changed her plans. The officials waited for the Emperor to arrive, but when the Emperor did not appear, Li Mu Yuan took the initiative and made a move, only to be escorted away by Wu Xianer’s men.

Soon after, the Right Yulin Army arrived at Qianqiu Pavilion, and someone reported that Ye Ping'an had been captured. Wu Xianer thought she had won, confident in her success. Xian Guangping, using the pretext of clearing the Emperor's side, led his troops into the palace, but was met with the surprise that Zhanlu Hall was already heavily guarded.

King Kangping appeared and was shocked to see General Xu Zhao of the Left Yulin Army, who should have been at Qianqiu Pavilion to capture the rebels, now present here. It turned out that the Emperor, upon learning of King Kangping’s conspiracy, had arranged for people from Mangou to pose as the Right Yulin Army and appear at Qianqiu Pavilion, making Wu Xianer think the plan had succeeded.

This allowed the safety of the officials to be secured while the real Right Yulin Army protected the Emperor. King Kangping was still waiting for news from Wu Ankang when Wei Xuanmin brought a letter from him. Wu Ankang was unwilling to start a rebellion, and had set up camp a hundred miles away, surrendering his military command. King Kangping, realizing that defeat was inevitable, took his own life.

Wu Xianer, seeing the palace lit up with fireworks, mistakenly thought her father had won, becoming arrogant and unstable in her emotions. Ye Ping'an, intending to help, had Ni Chang play a pipa tune to mask the sound of the bells and successfully cast a dream spell on Wu Xianer. In the dream, Wu Xianer donned the dragon robe and expressed her innermost thoughts. When she returned to reality, Ye Ping'an directly shattered her illusions.

Wu Xianer went from disbelief to despondently accepting the truth, and threw a firebomb toward the dragon chair. Yuan Shaocheng, knowing the area was rigged with explosives, quickly dragged Ye Ping'an out of the pavilion and into the water below, saving their lives. Afterward, Ye Ping'an refused to go with Yuan Shaocheng to meet the Emperor, letting him lie and claim that she had perished in the fire.

Yuan Shaocheng was punished with six months’ salary reduction for his unorthodox actions but had earned great merit and was intended for promotion to Right Chancellor. He politely declined and instead recommended Ji Qingtian for the position. Yuan Shaocheng also presented three important matters to the Emperor, all of which the Emperor agreed to. As Ye Ping'an had hoped, Yuan Shaocheng petitioned the Emperor to reform the salt monopoly, and the Emperor granted it.

The common people were finally free to buy and sell salt. Ye Ping'an knew that as long as she was alive, she would always be just a pawn in the Emperor’s hands. But if she were "dead," she could control her own heart. The Emperor, ever wise, understood that Ye Ping'an no longer wished to be his pawn, and thus used her "death" as an excuse to let her go. Whoever holds the heart cannot escape the Emperor's grasp.
