Dongfang Yi apologized to Nan Yaner, admitting that he had not taken good care of her. However, Nan Yaner understood that within and outside the Luoyi Mansion, there were many who wanted her dead, making it impossible to guard against all threats. She reassured Dongfang Yi that he shouldn't blame himself. Dongfang Yi went to plead with the Empress Dowager, expressing that he had always regarded her as his own mother. He hoped that the Empress Dowager, considering their years of mother-son relationship, would spare Nan Yaner. Watching her own child yet unable to acknowledge the relationship, the Empress Dowager, in pain, ordered Dongfang Yi's house arrest and demanded that everyone make amends for the mistakes from eighteen years ago.
Dongfang Jing took Su Xianling to Guihua Tower. Upon her awakening, he urged her to go far away. He placed a box and a top-grade golden wound-healing medicine in Su Xianling's belongings. With great reluctance, he returned to marry Nan Yaner and fulfill his duty as the City Lord of Luoyi City.
Su Xianling rode back to Si Fang Hui as fast as she could. She sought confirmation about her identity from her master. Her master admitted their past mistakes. They had received news that the Fengming Tribe had poisoned their soldiers, causing over half of them to be injured. This had greatly angered Dongfang Yi Tian, who then led a force to wipe out the Fengming Tribe. They couldn't bring themselves to harm the tribe's children and instead sent them to various kind households for fostering. Su Xianling, frail and seemingly on the brink of death, was placed in the secret base of the Cavalry Army for nurturing. After explaining all this, her master was willing to let Su Xianling kill them for revenge, but looking at the one who had raised her, Su Xianling couldn't bring herself to do it.
