Jin Xi'er and Lan Chen returned home to find Gu Qianqian waiting with her friend. Gu Qianqian intentionally made flirtatious remarks in front of Jin Xi'er. Lan Chen explained that his company had numerous firms vying for collaboration, and if she didn't want to work on the design, she could leave. Gu Qianqian asked if he wasn't worried she might mess things up, but Lan Chen believed a big company like Li Huai wouldn't tarnish its reputation. He mentioned that her company also wanted a share of the cosmetics industry, and since WE was a prominent company in the field, they could benefit from this partnership for publicity.
Gu Qianqian disclosed her plans for new products to Lan Chen, and Jin Xi'er, feeling left out, decided to step outside for some fresh air. Coincidentally, Lan's mother was present as well. She gave Jin Xi'er a black card with no restrictions, acknowledging that she wasn't materialistic but emphasizing the importance of money in the world. She hoped Jin Xi'er wouldn't misunderstand and would understand Lan Chen's true feelings. Jin Xi'er clarified that her relationship with Lan Chen was purely professional, as his superior at work.
Lan's mother's words to Jin Xi'er were overheard by Lan Chen. In a video message, Lan Rensha criticized Jin Xi'er, saying she was holding Lan Chen back and they were from different worlds. Jin Xi'er defended that they didn't really understand Lan Chen's preferences and the hardships he faced. Touched by Jin Xi'er's words, Lan's mother cried, and Lan Chen, feeling brave, confronted his grandfather and left with Jin Xi'er.
