Lan Chen finally gathered the courage to stand up to his grandfather for the sake of Jin Xi'er, wholeheartedly protecting her. He took Jin Xi'er to a restaurant to express his gratitude. Jin Xi'er had spoken the truth earlier and had confronted his grandfather. Lan Chen realized that everything she had said was sincere; she just refused to admit that he had charm to his face. Jin Xi'er teased him for his self-absorbed demeanor. While they were having dinner, they were given a survey questionnaire. When asked about their preferred way of being confessed to, Jin Xi'er wrote about being on a rooftop under a starry night with a gentle drizzle, and a man appearing with a bouquet of roses. Suddenly, a cake was brought over by a waiter to celebrate a birthday, and Jin Xi'er was delighted. However, when she saw macaron desserts on the sides, her heart sank because her sister liked those. Lan Chen had mistaken her for Jin Xi'en. Disheartened, she ordered a bottle of wine and had several glasses. After hearing the price of the wine, she quickly put the glass down.
