Jin Xi'er appeared before Lan Chen in a wedding dress, and he happily said, "I do." Jin Xi'er jokingly replied that she hadn't agreed yet. Lan Chen received a phone call and angrily threw a document in front of him, asking what Big Brother Yuan wanted. Big Brother Yuan presented evidence of Gu Qianqian's pregnancy and all the doctor's reports confirming that the child was Lan Chen's. Lan Chen was left speechless. Lan's mother asked her son what had happened, but he was also unclear about what had transpired. He only remembered that after drinking the water Gu Qianqian had given him that night, he didn't recall what had happened.
Gu's parents, upon learning that their daughter was pregnant out of wedlock, came to confront Lan Chen. Big Brother Yuan used this as leverage and stated that he could keep the secret but wanted to clear the false accounts. Lan's mother had no choice but to compromise. She received a message that Lan Chen's grandfather had been in a car accident and might become a vegetable. She was terrified. Lan Chen promised Gu's parents that he would take responsibility. He called a subordinate and noted the similarities between the events of the day and his father's accident.
Jin Xi'er mustered the courage to tell her mother about her plans to work abroad. Her mother expressed understanding, acknowledging that her child had grown up. As Jin Xi'er opened the door, she saw Gu Qianqian with a group of women at her house. Gu Qianqian provocatively handed Jin Xi'er a wedding invitation. Jin Xi'er coldly tore it up in front of them. She warned Gu Qianqian that while eating habits could be messy, there were some things that shouldn't be spoken carelessly. Gu Qianqian, given Jin Xi'er's disbelief, suggested that she could attend the wedding the next day, mocking Jin Xi'er as just a brief episode in Lan Chen's life.
