While Qin Zhen was checking the accounts in her guest room, she discovered something was amiss. The old man was not familiar with the ledger she showed him, and it wasn't until after he left that Qin Zhen asked the steward and found out that the accounts were managed by Chi Huo, who happened to be the son of the accountant.
Soon, Qin Zhen caught Chi Huo stealing food in the kitchen. She realized he was very skilled at stealing food and had likely done it before. She advised him to leave immediately, but Chi Huo begged for forgiveness. Qin Zhen then gave him a chance to be demoted and observe his father while teaching him a new accounting method. In return, Chi Huo agreed to help Qin Zhen keep an eye on the young master's every move and became her trusted confidant.
Later, Chi Huo secretly gave Qin Zhen some of the young master's letters, revealing that someone was writing love letters to Ye Yunzhou. Back in her room, Qin Zhen patiently tended to Ye Yunzhou's wounds and he was surprised to see his usually harsh wife caring for him so attentively.
Qin Zhen then asked Ye Yunzhou about the letters he received from Yun Yan, intentionally causing him pain to make him jealous.
