The Emperor summoned Gu Yunnian to the court for interrogation. He saw Gu Yunnian wearing rough prison clothes, looking much thinner than a few months ago when he was full of spirit. Gu Yunnian admitted the existence of the secret letter and sensed the threat in the Empress Dowager's words. The killing intent in her eyes made him shudder. He decided to take all the blame upon himself and refused to reveal the identity of the letter's owner.

Ren Anle angrily accused Gu Yunnian of unjustly exterminating the Di family in the past, but now he was using himself as a scapegoat for his own family. He would rather die in the court.
