In the evening, Cui Xingzhou discussed the clues they had found during the day with Zhao Quan. He instructed Zhao Quan to return to Qingzhou after tonight and keep an eye on He Zhen. Now that He Zhen knew his identity, she might cause additional complications. Cui Xingzhou wanted Zhao Quan back in Qingzhou to monitor the situation there closely.

Liu Miantang then persuaded Cui Xingzhou to accompany her on a stroll, claiming she wanted to spend time together as a couple. She insisted that Cui Xingzhou not bring as many shadow guards for protection as he usually did. Although Cui Xingzhou was busy with military affairs, Liu Miantang kept clamoring to return to Qingzhou.

However, since Cui Xingzhou still had unfinished business in the area, he couldn’t go back to Qingzhou immediately, so he agreed to take a walk with Liu Miantang nearby. During the day, Liu Miantang first had roasted cakes with her nanny and Cui Xingzhou. While eating, Cui Xingzhou accidentally spotted Qiao Xian and immediately got up to chase after him. Little did he know that this was part of a scheme between Qiao Xian and Liu Miantang.

Qiao Xian quickly hid in a nearby house and placed two young children at the entrance to play chess. When Cui Xingzhou arrived, he noticed that the stones the children were using were actually iron ore. These children had been prearranged by Qiao Xian. The children claimed they had picked up the stones near the entrance of the house across the street and that there were many more of them.

Cui Xingzhou quietly investigated and discovered people busily moving things inside the house, with large boxes everywhere. It was evident that this place was connected to the iron ore. Suddenly, Cui Xingzhou feared he had fallen into a trap. He rushed back to the place where he had just been eating with Liu Miantang, only to find the seats empty. Terrified that something had happened to Liu Miantang, Cui Xingzhou frantically searched for her, eventually finding her safe.

Overcome with emotion, he tightly embraced Liu Miantang. Sensing Cui Xingzhou's worry, Liu Miantang realized that this imposter still deeply cared about her safety. Liu Miantang eventually uncovered that the person responsible for the massacre at the escort agency was Cao Tuo. She held a dagger to Cao Tuo's neck, demanding to know who had framed her. Cao Tuo immediately revealed that it was Lu Wen who orchestrated everything.

Liu Miantang stabbed Cao Tuo, reflecting that if Cao Tuo had been vague, it would have confirmed Lu Wen's involvement. By eliminating Cao Tuo, Lu Wen had been cleared of suspicion, leaving Sun Yuner as the prime suspect. Liu Miantang then handed the dagger to her uncle, asking him to avenge the fallen brothers of the escort agency. By the time Cui Xingzhou arrived, Cao Tuo was already dead, silenced before any valuable information could be extracted.

Cui Xingzhou felt as though he had met a worthy opponent. The last time he had this feeling was when playing chess with Lu Wen, which led him to believe that Lu Wen had returned to the capital. Cui Xingzhou's intuition was spot on—Lu Wen was indeed in Qingzhou, but many of the actions were carried out by Yuner. Cui Xingzhou then escorted Agushan to present him to the Emperor.

However, the Empress Dowager did not grant an audience and instead hastily conferred a title upon Agushan before ordering his immediate execution. Many clues were left unexplored, and although Cui Xingzhou intended to plead with the Empress Dowager, he couldn’t even secure a meeting and had to watch helplessly as the witness he had painstakingly protected was beheaded. Frustrated and with no one to turn to, Liu Miantang returned home and noticed Cui Xingzhou's unusual behavior.

She deliberately asked about the scar on his palm. Reluctantly, Cui Xingzhou explained that it was from a sneak attack during a fierce battle. The arrow had nearly pierced his throat, and if he hadn’t caught it in time, he would have died. From this, Liu Miantang deduced that Cui Xingzhou was the King of Huaiyang and was about to return to Qingzhou. Liu Miantang then drugged her uncle and revealed Cui Xingzhou's true identity to him.
