At that time, the Princess of Sui, following the prince's wishes, sought to win over Cui Xingzhou. She specifically asked Liu Miantang to bring some jewelry for Cui Xingzhou to try on personally. Ziyu's elder sister was also present. The Princess of Sui casually chatted with Cui Xingzhou, asking if he had considered another marriage after canceling his previous engagement. Ziyu approached and saw Liu Miantang warming her hands by the stove. He asked her how she had been lately. Knowing what he wanted to hear, Liu Miantang deliberately replied that it was just as he had seen before. Ziyu felt a chill in his heart, recalling how close Liu Miantang and Cui Xingzhou had once appeared. Ziyu then bluntly stated that he knew Liu Miantang had disguised herself as a Hu merchant to seek revenge and eliminate Prince Sui.

Liu Miantang didn’t deny it. Ziyu cautioned her that Prince Sui was deeply cunning and extremely cautious, making it very difficult to catch him off guard. Ziyu proposed that they work together to remove Prince Sui, as Prince Sui, emboldened by his military achievements, had become arrogant and intolerant. Returning to the Prince of Huaiyang’s residence, Cui Xingzhou wrote the word "endure" on a piece of paper.

Ziyu went to pay respects to the Empress Dowager, who urged him to quickly choose an empress, praising Shi Xueji repeatedly. Ziyu, however, did not give a definite response. The Empress Dowager then suggested moving Shi Xueji into the former empress's palace, but Ziyu immediately objected, saying that it was a significant matter that needed to be discussed with key officials from the Ministry of Rites before making a decision.

During this meeting with the Empress Dowager, another important topic was brought up. The Empress Dowager expressed her intention to betroth Princess Wuhua to Cui Xingzhou, asking for Ziyu's opinion. Princess Wuhua held a noble status, and marrying her would be like adding wings to Ziyu's ambitions. However, Ziyu had not yet figured out how to deal with Cui Xingzhou and couldn’t afford to give him any more advantages.

Ziyu could only explain that as long as Princess Wuhua agreed, he had no objections. The Empress Dowager then decided to use the upcoming spring hunt as an opportunity for Wuhua to meet Ziyu.
