Liu Miantang had recently begun to notice more of Cui Xingzhou's virtues. Ever since she learned of Cui Xingzhou's condition, she had been making efforts to improve her appearance. Since the two had resumed sleeping on the same bed, Liu Miantang prepared a set of seductive lingerie. With her smooth, jade-like skin complemented by the lustrous material, she naturally looked even more radiant. Liu Miantang took the initiative to showcase her "inner beauty" to Cui Xingzhou.

Seeing her, Cui Xingzhou nearly lost control, but he forced himself to leave the room to cool down. Cui Xingzhou's subordinates reported that Ziyu seemed to be in Qingzhou and was closely associating with Shi Yikuan, who was also a favored person by the Empress Dowager’s side. Cui Xingzhou was unclear about the relationship between the two, but knowing that Ziyu was his mortal enemy, he was determined to capture Ziyu and settle his grudge.

Her focus was entirely on the Yu Shao Porcelain Workshop. To increase sales, she specially prepared a few treasured pieces from the store and then, encouraged by Cui Xingzhou, agreed to go to Qingzhou. Initially, they had planned to go together, but to draw the enemy out, Cui Xingzhou deliberately sent Liu Miantang ahead while he observed from the shadows. Sure enough, as soon as Liu Miantang arrived in Qingzhou, two unknown individuals began following her.

Cui Xingzhou watched closely as Liu Miantang entered a shop and took an interest in a chess set. Liu Miantang was indeed captivated by a finely crafted chessboard inside the shop. When she inquired about the price, she found it expensive and realized that someone else had already placed an order. She lamented her lateness and, given the high cost, reluctantly decided not to buy it. Shortly after Liu Miantang left, Ziyu emerged from the back of the shop.

He instructed the shopkeeper to cancel the reservation and to sell the chess set to Liu Miantang if she returned. The shopkeeper respectfully agreed. Cui Xingzhou quickly received information about Ziyu's whereabouts, confirming that Ziyu had already set his sights on Liu Miantang but had yet to find the right opportunity. To further provoke Ziyu, Cui Xingzhou took Liu Miantang shopping. Despite his subordinates keeping an eye on Ziyu, they eventually lost track of him.

While dining with Liu Miantang, Cui Xingzhou noticed a few unfamiliar faces seemingly watching them. Following their line of sight, Cui Xingzhou looked up and spotted a distinguished figure staring intently at Liu Miantang with a sorrowful expression. Cui Xingzhou was startled—this person was none other than Ziyu! The two men had been battling in the shadows for a long time, with Cui Xingzhou narrowly escaping death several times due to Ziyu's schemes.

After a while, Ziyu took the initiative to invite Cui Xingzhou to a game of chess. When Liu Miantang saw Ziyu for the first time, she felt dizzy, finding Ziyu strangely familiar yet unable to recall why. During the game, Liu Miantang realized she understood Ziyu's chess moves, but the more she tried to remember, the more her head throbbed with pain. After winning the game, Cui Xingzhou escorted the dizzy Liu Miantang back home.

Cui Xingzhou then had the nanny subtly probe whether Liu Miantang had remembered anything, hoping to gain some clues. Meanwhile, Liu Miantang anxiously asked the nanny if she knew whether she and Ziyu had known each other in the past. To test her, the nanny lied, claiming that Ziyu had once been Liu Miantang's lover. Liu Miantang believed her.

Convinced that she must have known Ziyu before, Liu Miantang candidly offered to write a divorce letter if Cui Xingzhou was concerned about her past. Seeing that Liu Miantang had not regained her memory, Cui Xingzhou explained that it was Ziyu who had been persistently entangled with her, assuring her that nothing improper had occurred between them. Only then did Liu Miantang feel relieved.
