Tu Shanjing assured her that no matter how she looked, he would wholeheartedly love her. Tu Shanjing needed to return to handle family affairs, so they agreed to meet again in fifteen years, and Wen Xiaoliu was willing to wait for him.

However, after Tu Shanjing left, Cang Xuan noticed that Wen Xiaoliu seemed visibly less joyful, becoming more silent and reserved. Cang Xuan and A Nian asked to accompany her. The four of them set off together. On the other hand, Tu Shanjing asked to dissolve his engagement with Xingling Xie. Xingling Xie tearfully refused. Once Tu Shanjing left, she wiped away her tears, changing her gentle demeanor.

Zhuyi City was where various prominent families in the Central Plains gathered. To avoid attracting attention, Wen Xiaoliu and the others temporarily stayed at an inn as Haoling Qinglong's disciples. That night, the four of them rowed a boat on the lake, enjoying grilled fish and shrimp, laughing and having fun. Chenrong Yuxin invited Xingling Xie to ride the dragon boat with her and personally played a song for her, which Wen Xiaoliu admired. Cang Xuan played the flute to complement the music, attracting Chenrong Yuxin's attention. She ordered her men to turn the boat around, but unexpectedly, the flute stopped suddenly. Xingling Xie recognized Cang Xuan and Wen Xiaoliu, intentionally stirring up conflict between Chenrong Yuxin and A Nian and using this opportunity to launch a surprise attack, causing all four of them to jump into the lake.
