Wen Xiaoliu brought A Nian back to the shore and saw her crouching in the bushes, her whole body filled with fear due to the eerie calls of night owls around. He spoke gently and praised her for being brave. On their way back to the inn, Wen Xiaoliu carried the unconscious Haitang on his back and instructed A Nian to follow closely so she wouldn't get lost. He reassured her that the herbal scent on his body would repel snakes and insects.

Luckily, Haitang was fine. After hearing Wen Xiaoliu's account of their encounter, Ruxu agreed to intervene first to resolve the conflict with Fengyue. She didn't want the situation to escalate and bring harm to them or Fengyue. Wen Xiaoliu deliberately kept A Nian away and warned Ruxu to be cautious of Fengyue, as she might recognize Jianxuan's identity.

Meanwhile, Fengyue found a floating bamboo flute on the water and ordered her maid to take it back to her residence. Jianxuan, who was injured and weakened, stayed at Fengyue's residence for the night. He introduced himself as Haoling Qinglong, admitting that he was the one playing the flute that night. The next day, Jianxuan and Fengyue played music together, making her even more fond of him. However, her maid believed that Fengyue deserved to be with a prince or noble, at the very least, a clan leader, not someone of lower status like Jianxuan.

A Nian, worried about Jianxuan, urged Ruxu to personally go to Fengyue's residence to bring him back. Wen Xiaoliu, on the other hand, stayed outside and unexpectedly met Tu Shanjing. Despite this, Wen Xiaoliu didn't greet him, feeling disappointed that Tu Shanjing was no longer Ye Seventeen. But as soon as she expressed this, Tu Shanjing appeared behind her, saying, "I'm here." Wen Xiaoliu was moved by his words. However, they couldn't stay together for long. Tu Shanjing asked her to leave first, promising that when she turned back, she would still see him standing there. They agreed to announce something significant in a few days.

Tu Shanjing and Chishui Fenglong were close friends. He personally introduced Jianxuan and Wen Xiaoliu to Fengyue and Fenglong, using the excuse of holding a banquet at Ruxu's residence and sending invitations to the inn. Wen Xiaoliu and Jianxuan reviewed what happened earlier and confirmed that Fengyue might seek refuge with King Xiyan's people, which led to the attack on them. Jianxuan needed the support of the Chenrong and Chishui families, and this invitation provided a good opportunity. Thus, Wen Xiaoliu postponed her plan to go to Yushan for the time being.

Later, Wen Xiaoliu accompanied Jianxuan to the banquet at Fengyue's residence. Tu Shanjing introduced them to Fengyue and Fenglong, and they sat together, drinking and talking. Tu Shanjing mentioned that there were accusations against Ruyi for colluding with rebels and having disloyal intentions towards the court.

However, Jianxuan didn't find anything wrong with this statement and confirmed that it was true. Fenglong was furious upon hearing this but restrained himself for Tu Shanjing's sake, listening carefully to the explanation. Jianxuan stated that when Ruyi took control of the Central Plains hundreds of years ago, he emphasized that he was loyal to peace, kneeling to the will of the people, and seeking the well-being of the people. He never promised loyalty to a single person, and his goal was to ensure the people's safety and happiness in the Central Plains. He argued that this was not a disloyal intention. As for colluding with rebels, he was trying to persuade the enemy to surrender, demonstrating his great charisma and character.

Fenglong pondered over his words and finally understood Jianxuan's intention. He admired him greatly for this revelation. As the conversation ended, Xingling suddenly appeared and deliberately sat between Tu Shanjing and Wen Xiaoliu. Fengyue was unaware of the situation and praised Tu Shanjing and Xingling as an exemplary couple. Tu Shanjing couldn't bear to listen to this and was about to leave, but Xingling held him back for the family's face. Seeing this, Wen Xiaoliu made an excuse to leave the table and found a boat by the river. She urgently waved at the person on the boat, asking for a ride. It turned out to be Xiang Liu, who transformed into a woman and had a conversation with Wen Xiaoliu. They enjoyed food, wine, and fireworks together.

On the other side, Jianxuan found Tu Shanjing alone and expressed that Wen Xiaoliu deserved the best man. He couldn't tolerate seeing her hurt, and if Tu Shanjing couldn't do that, he should stay away from her. Xiang Liu tried to test if Wen Xiaoliu was thinking about someone, but she immediately denied it, which made Xiang Liu somewhat angry. She instructed the boatman to stop by the shore and gave a food box to Wen Xiaoliu, telling her to think about the person she cares about the next time she feels unhappy.
