Fengfeng Bei and his brother Yu Jiang came from the Xiling Yan tribe. Yu Jiang sought revenge for his brother's death at the hands of Cang Xuan. However, Chishui Xian advised him not to seek vengeance that would lead to the destruction of their tribe.

After this incident, Cang Xuan decided to send Wen Xiaoliu back to Wushen Mountain to keep her safe. Wen Xiaoliu refused, believing that they should face dangers together and protect each other. They made a promise in front of their ancestors' graves to depend on each other.

Cang Xuan was appointed as the River Operations Official and took charge of river management, planning to build alliances with the Chishui and Fengfeng clans. However, the Five and Seven Princes couldn't tolerate his rise and plotted to kill him. Meanwhile, Tu Shanjing repeatedly disappointed Wen Xiaoliu by failing to deliver the promised gift of plum wine.

She asked the carriage business to deliver them to Qingshui Town as quickly as possible. There, she encountered Fengfeng Bei and, charmed by his words, she began to learn archery from him.
