However, Cang Xuan was in a weak position and couldn't compete with others, so Chishui Fenglong hesitated. But Tu Shanjing believed that adding embellishments to an already beautiful picture was common, and offering timely help was rare. If they judged the future based on the current power dynamics, they could only adopt a mediocre stance. They had a brief conversation before he left abruptly.

As the night approached, the guests gradually dispersed, and Cang Xuan and Yu Jiang had a friendly chat before bidding farewell at the door. Wen Xiaoliu noticed Fengfeng Bei riding a horse with a bow and arrow in the sky. Intuitively sensing the danger, she hurriedly warned Cang Xuan, but before he could react, he was struck down by Yu Jiang.

Yu Jiang's real name was Xuan Ming, and both he and his brother Xuan Ting came from the Xiyu clan. As a result, Fengfeng Bei slowly lowered his bow and arrow, smiling wryly. He then rode away, and the crisis for Wen Xiaoliu and Cang Xuan was finally resolved. Chishui Xian was sent to rescue Cang Xuan on orders, and he also warned Yu Jiang that he should not seek revenge in this manner, as it would lead to the destruction of the entire Xiyu clan. After that, Chishui Xian returned to report to Chishui Fenglong. Upon hearing that Wen Xiaoliu risked her life to save Cang Xuan, Chishui Fenglong held her in even higher regard. On the other hand, Tu Shanjing worried that she would face more danger around Cang Xuan.

After this incident, Cang Xuan suggested taking Wen Xiaoliu back to Wushen Mountain, fearing that he couldn't protect her completely with his current abilities. But Wen Xiaoliu didn't agree, believing that they should find ways to solve the dangers they encounter instead of escaping. Eventually, the two of them made a promise to each other at their ancestors' grave to rely on and protect each other.

Not long after, Cang Xuan was appointed as the internal historian of river transportation and took over the responsibility of managing it. He planned to win over the Chishui and Fengfeng clans. The fifth and seventh princes couldn't sit still and began plotting to harm Cang Xuan. Originally, Tu Shanjing was supposed to send plum wine as agreed, but his repeated delays disappointed Wen Xiaoliu. She ordered her maids to dispose of all the wine bottles, even giving the last bottle of plum wine to him.

Then Wen Xiaoliu went to Tushan Horse and Carriage Shop to deliver goods personally. She prepared some exquisitely crafted poison resembling pastries for Xiang Liu and asked the shop to deliver them to Qingshui Town quickly. Coincidentally, Fengfeng Bei appeared there, and his sweet words gradually pacified Wen Xiaoliu's anger. She decided to learn archery from him, although she was unaware of his hidden agenda.
