After capturing Mu Fei, Cang Xuan subjected him to severe torture to extract information. However, Mu Fei refused to reveal any conspiracies, considering himself a lone individual unafraid of life or death. Nevertheless, Cang Xuan had already discovered that Mu Fei had secretly fathered a child with a maidservant. Even though Mu Fei rarely interacted with them, he did so to protect them.

It was because of this that Cang Xuan used the life of Mu Fei's son as leverage, which immediately yielded results. Mu Fei was willing to disclose the truth about killing Xiao Yao on the condition that Chishui Fenglong and Cang Xuan came together. Since Mu Fei didn't trust the people of Xiyan, he had Chishui Fenglong promise to ensure the safety of his wife and child, before explaining why he wanted to kill Xiao Yao.

As it turned out, during the grand Princess Haoling ceremony, Mu Fei recognized that Wen Xiaoliu was Chi Chen's daughter. With some concerns in his mind, he went to the Fifth Prince and the Seventh Prince to confirm. Although the princes remained secretive about the matter, Mu Fei became convinced that Princess Haoling and Chi Chen had a past, confirming Wen Xiaoliu's identity.

Chishui Fenglong found it hard to believe, while Cang Xuan seemed thoughtful, still defending Wen Xiaoliu. He questioned why, if she was truly Chi Chen's daughter, Princess Haoling would hold a grand ceremony to announce it to the world. Upon hearing this, Mu Fei began to doubt whether he had killed the right person, but quickly dismissed the thought. He could never forget the look in Chi Chen's eyes, which were exactly the same as Wen Xiaoliu's.

Regarding Mu Fei's words, Cang Xuan had a plan in mind. He intended to first expose the mastermind behind the massacre. Chenrong Xinyue listened tearfully, while Chishui Fenglong looked at Cang Xuan with newfound respect, willing to stand by his side. For Chenrong Xinyue, it was a mix of happiness and sadness. She was glad that Cang Xuan promised to protect her, but regretted not meeting him earlier.

Shortly after, Cang Xuan arranged for Zhan Xueling's death and tortured Jinyue Jian to death. Having avenged his grievances, Cang Xuan hurried back to the palace, gazing at the unconscious Wen Xiaoliu. He informed her that he had exacted revenge, punishing those who had harmed her. Though he was aware that this action might undo their earlier efforts, and Wen Xiaoliu might oppose him if she woke, Cang Xuan no longer cared to adapt to circumstances.

Cang Xuan gently held Wen Xiaoliu's hand, noticing its coldness, and asked Old Sang to change her bedding. Old Sang reminded Cang Xuan not to be obsessed, as the person before him was not Wen Xiaoliu but a puppet. Thanks to this reminder, Cang Xuan suddenly realized the truth, a bitter smile on his face.

Meanwhile, Wen Xiaoliu's consciousness emerged from her body, intending to find Cang Xuan, only to find herself stuck nearby. She waited anxiously and finally encountered Xiang Liu, greeting him with excitement, although she couldn't see herself. Despite Xiang Liu's pale and weak appearance, he fed her heart's blood and extracted toxins from her body, before collapsing nearby.

Upon learning of the attack on Wen Xiaoliu, Princess Haoling considered it inappropriate to directly intervene in Xiyan's affairs. She instructed Ru Shou to expel the descendants of the four major clans and sent Qin Shou to warn them, allowing some venting for Wen Xiaoliu. An Nian naturally worried about Wen Xiaoliu and sympathized with her, seeking justice on her behalf.
