Initially, Lady Tu Shanjing had requested Princess Haoling to allow Tu Shanjing to go to the Gui Xu to recuperate. However, after Tu Shanjing left the city of Zhiyi, his health worsened rapidly. Concerned, the Tu family sent him back to Chenrong Mansion for recovery.

Despite several attempts, Chishui Fenglong's secret assassinations against Cang Xuan failed. Cang Xuan didn't severely punish him. The first time, he let him go, and the second time, he took him to the dungeons, where he showcased the cruel torture devices designed by his elder brother, Xuan Ting.
