Wen Lan and Shi Chu were hiding at the research institute when they noticed someone acting suspiciously. They wanted to go over and see who it was, but to their surprise, it was Mu Bai. Mu Bai claimed he was here to give Wen Lan a surprise, leaving her utterly speechless. To add to the surprise, Lin Yan and her group also arrived, leaving Wen Lan even more bewildered.
Mu Bai stated that he didn't know Lin Yan would come, and this matter had nothing to do with him. Wen Lan insisted that whether Lin Yan came on her own or Mu Bai called her, it disrupted her plans. Mu Bai sneaked back into the research institute, feeling that he needed to make amends.
While there, Mu Bai saw Zhuang Rou covertly copying documents. He took a photo of it and brought Zhuang Rou to Director Huo and Wen Lan. At first, Zhuang Rou was reluctant to admit, but a joint effort from Wen Lan and Mu Bai frightened him. They even mentioned legal consequences, explaining that stealing trade secrets could lead to imprisonment. They recalled a previous incident where someone from another company ended up in jail for several years due to similar actions.
Zhuang Rou was indeed frightened and confessed that his father had instructed him to steal the documents. Shi Chu pulled Mu Bai aside and told him not to stay by Wen Lan's side. They no longer had a relationship. Mu Bai explained that he had misunderstood before, but now he was determined to win back Wen Lan.
