Because of this, Du Yongsong suppresses Gu Yunzheng's application to change the research topic and orders him to withdraw the request as soon as possible.

Before retiring, Professor Wen unconditionally donates all her research results to Su Weian, hoping she can outrun time and overcome the illness. Su Weian, holding a heavy box of materials, feels a mix of emotions. Leaving the hospital, she overhears doctors discussing Gu Yunzheng giving up his original topic and switching to research on Huntington's chorea.

Su Weian, feeling sad, expresses that holding the belief of curing Huntington's chorea, every day will be lived in disappointment. Gu Yunzheng is willing to bear all the disappointment quickly, but Su Weian cannot convince herself. She is concerned about delaying Gu Yunzheng's future and suggests taking a break to think about their next steps.

On this day, Su Weian returns home with her luggage. Gu Yunzheng looks at the quiet living room and bedroom, suddenly feeling a sense of desolation. The two couples have a warm and sweet dinner under the moonlight. Jiang Muying and Su Weian return to their rooms after eating, and Gu Yunzheng asks Su Weian to accompany him to visit someone the next morning. It turns out that Gu Yunzheng's mother's colleague, Uncle Wang, had already returned to China. He preserved some relics and handed them over to Gu Yunzheng, where he found several photos, including his childhood pictures and a family photo of Du Yuncheng. Behind the photos was a line that read, "We are a family," surprising Gu Yunzheng.

Since Du Yuncheng left the old mansion, he has not made a single phone call home. Du Yongsong is furious about this and blames him for not apologizing and fixing his mistakes. He accuses Du Yuncheng of evaporating from the human world and leaving the mess to Jiehui. Du's mother defends her son, feeling that Du Yongsong is unfairly treating him. Du's mother emphasizes that, no matter how outstanding Gu Yunzheng is, he is a Gu, not a Du. Even if he were Du Yongsong's biological son, falling in love with a girl with Huntington's chorea would not leave any descendants for the Du family.

Shocked by this revelation, Du Yongsong calls Gu Yunzheng to question him. He criticizes him and makes it clear that he will never agree to the change in the research direction.
