Although Gu Yunzheng and the team secured the initial project funding, ongoing research and development funds remained a persistent issue. Therefore, Gu Yunzheng approached Professor Wang Huanzhong, hoping he could help introduce several pharmaceutical companies. In the following days, Gu Yunzheng and Su Weian worked together daily, and their relationship continued to grow warmer.

Gu Yunzheng reported the research results of the Huntington's project's animal experimentation phase to the institute's leaders, earning applause from everyone. As time passed quickly, approaching the Chinese New Year, Gu Yunzheng wanted Su Weian to accompany him to visit his grandfather. However, Su Weian didn't agree and suggested that they each go home for the New Year.

Initially, Su Weian planned to bring her aunt home for the New Year, but Su Yuan insisted on staying at the recuperation center. Su's mother decided to wait until after the New Year to visit. Su Weian rushed there with her mother, but Su Yuan refused to see anyone and insisted on participating in Su Weian's clinical trial. Although Su Weian could understand her aunt's pain, she had to tell her that her current physical condition was not suitable for being a trial subject, secretly determined to accelerate the research pace.

Because the Phase II clinical trial required tens of millions in funding, everyone was at a loss. Coincidentally, a representative from a pharmaceutical company approached Gu Yunzheng, claiming they wanted to invest in their project. However, as Gu Yunzheng interacted with them, he became increasingly suspicious and saw through their scheme, terminating the negotiation. As expected, the representative was acting under Wen Ran's instructions to get hold of their experimental plans.

Later, Gu Yunzheng mentioned this to Su Weian, who felt ashamed of Wen Ran's actions but worried that the lack of funds might delay the experiment. Gu Yunzheng reassured Su Weian not to worry; he would handle the funding issue. He then called various pharmaceutical companies, but the calls were abruptly ended before he could say much. Due to these challenges, Gu Yunzheng found no willing investors for Huntington's chorea research. In desperation, he reluctantly planned to sell the house left by his mother.
