Wei Zhao suddenly appeared, luring the four elders into chasing him, and he allowed himself to be captured on purpose. Elder Li hurried to meet Elder Ping late at night, trying to persuade him to become the city lord. Elder Li wanted to cooperate with Elder Ping to take back the white jade hairpin, and together they would rule Yue Luo. Years ago, Elder Ping and his wife fought alongside Xiao Haitian against foreign enemies.

Unfortunately, her husband died in battle, and Elder Ping blamed Xiao Haitian for his death, forming an unrelenting grudge against him ever since. Hong Jie, the son of Elder Hong, was young and ambitious. He was determined to become the city lord and completely change the fate of the people of Yue Luo, but Elder Hong had no interest in the position.

Late into the night, the four elders interrogated Wei Zhao, torturing him to make him hand over the white jade hairpin, but Wei Zhao refused. Meanwhile, Jiang Ci heard that there were Lingjiu flower seeds on Lone Star Peak, so despite the danger, she climbed up the peak alone. The next day, the grand election ceremony for the city lord of Yue Luo was to take place.

Lu Yu sent men disguised as commoners to search for Wei Zhao in Yue Luo. Pei Yan heard that the masked person who disrupted the election assembly had been captured, and he suspected it was Wei Zhao. He ordered An Cheng to stay behind and deal with Lu Yu, while he and Tong Min headed to Yue Luo to find Jiang Ci. Yu Lian and A Le arrived at Lone Star Peak just in time.

After reuniting with Jiang Ci, they returned to the city together. By chance, they overheard that Elder Ping had captured the troublemaker from the election assembly. Jiang Ci guessed that the person was Wei Zhao. Yu Lian told Jiang Ci and A Le to head home first while she went to rescue Wei Zhao. As soon as Yu Lian showed up, Hong Jie recognized her and relentlessly questioned her about the whereabouts of Jiang Ci and A Le.

Yu Lian refused to answer and slipped away when he was off guard. Pei Yan and Tong Min, disguised, arrived in Yue Luo City and began searching for Jiang Ci. From afar, they recognized Yu Lian and followed her, eventually finding Jiang Ci’s residence. Pei Yan wanted to take Jiang Ci away, but she adamantly refused. Yu Lian tried to stop them and fought hard, but she was severely injured by Tong Min and subdued on the spot.

Not wanting to implicate Yu Lian any further, Jiang Ci reluctantly agreed to go with Pei Yan. As A Le was escorting the injured Yu Lian out of the house, they were stopped by Hong Jie, and both were captured. The four elders took turns interrogating Wei Zhao, but he remained silent. Elder Ji, in a fit of rage, wanted to kill Wei Zhao, but Elder Li opposed the idea, insisting on finding the white jade hairpin.

Elder Ji brought Wei Zhao to the Xiao family’s old house and tried to use manipulative tactics to force him to comply, cursing Xiao Haitian and even pouring a bowl of blood on Xiao Haitian’s armor to insult him. Wei Zhao sneered coldly and suggested that the elders fight each other, with the winner receiving the white jade hairpin. Enraged, Elder Ping tried to kill Wei Zhao, but Elder Li held her back.

Pei Yan was very considerate of Jiang Ci, but she remained cold toward him. Despite Pei Yan’s efforts to please her, Jiang Ci was unmoved, which pained Pei Yan deeply. Jiang Ci mocked him, stating she would rather be used by Wei Zhao than accept Pei Yan’s affection. Meanwhile, Hong Jie pressured Yu Lian to reveal the location of the white jade hairpin and their true purpose for coming to Yue Luo, but Yu Lian refused to answer.

Hong Jie, upon hearing that the four elders had taken Wei Zhao to the Xiao family’s old residence, angrily took A Le to confront Wei Zhao. Elder Hong chased Hong Jie away and learned from A Le that Jiang Ci had been captured by Pei Yan. Pei Yan intended to take Jiang Ci away from Yue Luo. She used the excuse of going back to pack her things and left a secret message for Wei Zhao.

When Jiang Ci found the white jade hairpin hidden in her clothes, she took out a pottery flute and played a melodious tune that reached the prison where Wei Zhao was held, and he heard it clearly. Meanwhile, Elder Hong and the townspeople were fortifying the city walls. Hong Jie complained that his father wasn’t striving for the city lord position, but in the end, he still helped with the work.

After packing her things, Jiang Ci followed Pei Yan to leave. Early the next morning, she made a bowl of porridge for Pei Yan, but he realized it had been drugged. Furious, he confronted Jiang Ci. Despite his deep feelings for her, she remained guarded, even attempting to drug him to escape. Without saying another word, Pei Yan grabbed Jiang Ci and left.

Early that morning, Hong Jie released Yu Lian and A Le and told them to go watch the city lord election ceremony. As soon as Pei Yan and Jiang Ci stepped out, they encountered Zhang Zhi Cheng, a deputy under Lu Yu. Jiang Ci, worried that General Zhang might interfere with Wei Zhao’s plans, lied, saying that Pei Yan was taking her to watch the election ceremony. The grand election ceremony officially began.

The four elders sat on the stage, and Elder Li ordered Wei Zhao to be brought out. Elder Ji publicly exonerated Xiao Haitian from the false charges and even bowed three times to Xiao Haitian’s memory. Elder Ping rebuked Elder Ji for lacking backbone. Left with no choice, Elder Ji revealed the truth: Wei Zhao claimed to know the whereabouts of Elder Ji’s son, Ji Lang.

If Elder Ji would clear Xiao Haitian’s name, not only would Wei Zhao give him the white jade hairpin, but he would also help find Ji Lang. Wei Zhao then publicly announced Elder Li’s promise from the previous night: as long as Wei Zhao handed over the white jade hairpin, he would be guaranteed endless wealth and glory in Yue Luo and Da Liang. Wei Zhao presented Elder Li’s signed pledge as evidence.

Elder Li tried to explain, but Wei Zhao then revealed his true identity as Xiao Haitian’s son, Xiao Wuxia, stunning everyone present. Jiang Ci stood up to testify on behalf of Wei Zhao, publicly declaring that her husband was Xiao Wuxia. Elder Li tried to accuse Wei Zhao of being an imposter, but Jiang Ci presented the white jade hairpin as proof.
