Love of Nirvana Episode 24 Recap
> Love of Nirvana Recap
The four elders all suspected that Wei Zhao was actually Xiao Haitian's son, Xiao Wuxia. To help him get out of the situation, Jiang Ci claimed that she was Xiao Wuxia's wife, and even presented the white jade hairpin as proof, intending to clear Xiao Haitian's name. Elder Li didn’t believe her at all, and Jiang Ci publicly exposed him as a spy sent by Lu Yu.
Zhang Zhi Cheng and Pei Yan were both stunned by the scene unfolding before them. Wei Zhao drew his sword and stabbed at Elder Li. Elder Li shouted for Zhang Zhi Cheng to save him, but Elder Ping struck Elder Li on the head, killing him instantly. At Zhang Zhi Cheng's command, the Zhenyuan Army soldiers hidden among the crowd rushed forward.
Elder Hong called for the soldiers of Moonfall City to fight back, and both sides began a fierce battle. Wei Zhao and Jiang Ci fought side by side. Pei Yan attacked them, aiming a blow at Wei Zhao. Jiang Ci rushed to block him, but Pei Yan struck her in the back. Elder Hong and Elder Ping joined forces to fight the enemy, with Hong Jie also participating.
The Moonfall soldiers fought more bravely as the battle progressed, and Zhang Zhi Cheng was eventually killed on the spot. Pei Yan led the remaining Zhenyuan Army soldiers back to the camp and reported Zhang Zhi Cheng’s death to Lu Yu. Lu Yu sent someone to comfort Zhang Zhi Cheng’s family to prevent the court from holding them accountable.
Hong Jie realized that his father, Elder Hong, was allied with Wei Zhao and became furious, threatening to run away from home. Elder Hong tried to calm him down and took him to meet Wei Zhao. After Xiao Haitian’s death years ago, Xiao Wuxia and his sister were hunted by the people of Moonfall. Elder Hong discovered the siblings hiding in the grass and deliberately let them go. Since then, they had only kept in touch through letters.
Wei Zhao gave the white jade hairpin to Elder Hong, asking him to become the Lord of Moonfall City. Elder Hong, unable to refuse the request, agreed and urged Wei Zhao to stay until after the festival. Jiang Ci also chimed in, and Wei Zhao finally agreed with a smile. Yu Lian had dislocated her arm, and Jiang Ci helped her reset it.
Wei Zhao was concerned that Pei Yan would complain to Xie Che, the emperor of Da Ling, so he sent Yi Fei to deliver a message to Xie Che, exposing Lu Yu’s secret agents in Moonfall. Wei Zhao knew that Lu Yu wouldn’t give up easily and decided to stay and protect the people of Moonfall.
Pei Yan originally intended to use Lu Yu to recover the account books from Wei Zhao, but when that plan failed, he decided to wait for Lu Yu and Wei Zhao to exhaust each other. Xie Che received secret letters from both Lu Yu and Wei Zhao. Angered by Lu Yu’s actions, Xie Che, knowing that Pei Yan was in a difficult position, chose not to pursue the matter further when Pei Yan failed to report anything.
Today was the Cold Clothes Festival, and Moonfall City was as lively as New Year’s, with every household celebrating. Elder Hong hosted a feast for Wei Zhao and Jiang Ci, inviting Ah Le and his grandmother as well. Elder Hong even brought out the plum wine he had saved for Hong Jie’s wedding to entertain his guests, with Wei Zhao and Jiang Ci dressed in their finest.
Hong Jie, still upset, bought a laxative from a beggar on the street, intending to add it to the food. However, Yu Lian caught him in the act and severely scolded him. Elder Hong urged Hong Jie to join everyone in celebrating the festival. Jiang Ci discovered that the laxative Hong Jie had bought was fake and promised to make some real laxative for him later.
Hong Jie pitied Jiang Ci, thinking it unfortunate that she had married the cold-hearted Wei Zhao. Yu Lian warned Hong Jie not to speak carelessly. As everyone exchanged drinks and laughter, the courtyard echoed with joy. Jiang Ci, feeling sentimental, was reminded of her parents and master. Wei Zhao, noticing her mood, took her to the festival to help her relax. Following Moonfall customs, he painted her face. Wei Zhao painted a flower on Jiang Ci's face.
Jiang Ci, reluctant to paint on his face, drew a phoenix on his mask instead. Since she wasn’t skilled in drawing, it ended up looking like a duck, making Wei Zhao burst into laughter. That night, Wei Zhao, Jiang Ci, Ah Le, Yu Lian, Hong Jie, and others went to the festival together, joining the townspeople in singing and dancing around the bonfire. After the dance, the young men gave flowers to the girls they admired as a token of affection.
Hong Jie gave a flower to Yu Lian, scaring her so much that she ran off. Jiang Ci, unaware of the flower's meaning, gave one to Wei Zhao. Before he could explain, the townspeople began questioning her, reminding her that she had claimed to be Xiao Wuxia’s wife but was now showing affection to Wei Zhao. Wei Zhao took off his mask and publicly revealed that he was Xiao Wuxia, Xiao Haitian’s son.
The people, filled with hatred for the Xiao family, verbally attacked him, forcing Wei Zhao to pull Jiang Ci away. Feeling heavy-hearted, Wei Zhao was comforted by Jiang Ci, who played the tune "Moonfall Song" on her ocarina to soothe his troubled mind. She advised him not to be sad and to follow his heart. As she played, Wei Zhao quietly hummed along to the familiar melody.
