Love of Nirvana Episode 26 Recap
> Love of Nirvana Recap
Yan Shuangqiao hurriedly arrived at Yuzhou Island and inquired about Jiang Ci from her contact. She learned that Jiang Ci never made contact and only spoke briefly with a fortune-telling old woman before rushing toward the direction of Moonfall. The contact suspected that Jiang Ci had fallen into someone else’s trap. Without hesitation, Yan Shuangqiao set off for Moonfall to find Jiang Ci. Master Hong risked his life to fend off Lu Yu's Zhenyuan Army, temporarily securing Moonfall City’s safety.
However, the people were still anxious and lived in constant fear. Wei Zhao, deeply worried, knew that Lu Yu could launch another attack at any moment. He sought out Yu Lian, Yi Fei, and others to discuss countermeasures. Elder Ji and Elder Ping, along with a group of angry citizens, confronted Wei Zhao, accusing him of causing Elder Hong’s death. Elder Ping demanded that Wei Zhao atone for Elder Hong's death by taking his own life.
Jiang Ci arrived just in time to help Wei Zhao out of the situation. She explained that Wei Zhao had returned to Moonfall to root out the spy planted by Lu Yu. Despite being gravely injured multiple times, he never gave up. Wei Zhao rallied everyone to unite against the Zhenyuan Army.
Elder Ping still didn't trust him, so Wei Zhao cut his palm with a sword, swearing a blood oath that once the Zhenyuan Army was defeated, they could deal with him as they wished. Wei Zhao prepared to hold a cremation ceremony for Elder Hong, but Hong Jie was not receptive. He vented all his anger on Wei Zhao.
Wei Zhao urged Hong Jie to keep the bigger picture in mind, reminding him of his father’s last wish—to protect Moonfall well. Hong Jie, holding back his grief, prepared for his father’s cremation. The citizens joined in mourning Elder Hong. Wei Zhao watched the scene, feeling deeply troubled. Yu Lian gently consoled Hong Jie, even drinking with him to ease his sorrow.
Hong Jie advised Yu Lian to visit her mother, warning her not to delay too long and risk regret. Yu Lian promised she would. Meanwhile, Wei Zhao prepared to lead the army into battle, and Jiang Ci volunteered to help in the medical tent, determined to fight alongside him. Lu Yu ordered the Zhenyuan Army to dig trenches outside the city, intending to infiltrate Moonfall through underground tunnels.
Elder Ping and Elder Ji called Wei Zhao to the city wall to discuss strategies. Wei Zhao recalled that his father had buried diamond stones beneath the walls during his lifetime, making it impossible for the Zhenyuan Army to dig their way in. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. In the medical tent, Jiang Ci assisted the military doctor Ling as they were overwhelmed with wounded soldiers, helping to brew medicine and care for the injured.
Lu Yu, frustrated by his failure to capture Moonfall, was advised by his lieutenant to take advantage of the strong wind that night to catapult filth into the city. Without a better plan, Lu Yu reluctantly agreed. Tong Min spotted soldiers from the Zhenyuan Army sneaking out of the camp with large bags of something and immediately reported it to Pei Yan. The Zhenyuan Army launched bundles of cattail fluff, mixed with filth, into Moonfall City.
The filth carried a virus, causing many citizens to become infected with dysentery. Jiang Ci suggested moving the sick to a medical area outside the city to prevent further spread. Wei Zhao explained the situation to the citizens, who were initially reluctant to leave. Only after Jiang Ci promised to accompany them did they agree to move to the treatment area. Wei Zhao personally crafted a paper kite, asking Jiang Ci to fly it every day to signal her safety.
Jiang Ci escorted the citizens to the outskirts and brewed medicine according to Doctor Ling's prescription. Meanwhile, Lu Yu planned to wait for all of Moonfall’s citizens to be infected with dysentery, hoping they would surrender on their own. He also captured many Moonfall citizens as hostages. Pei Yan, eager to retrieve his mother Rong Yudie’s ledger from Wei Zhao, suggested using Shadow Pavilion spies to coerce Wei Zhao into opening the city gates, a plan Lu Yu praised.
The next morning, Lu Yu and Pei Yan brought their troops to Moonfall and captured the spies Wei Zhao had planted in the Shadow Pavilion, threatening to kill them all. These people had once been sold into slavery in the Da Liang Kingdom but were rescued by Wei Zhao, who made them messengers for the Shadow Pavilion. They were loyal to Wei Zhao and prepared to die for him.
Elder Ji recognized his son, A Lang, among the captives and urged Wei Zhao to open the gates quickly. Wei Zhao tried to calm him, explaining that he couldn’t sacrifice the lives of all Moonfall’s citizens for a few individuals. As the incense burned down, Lu Yu issued his final ultimatum. Elder Ji and the families of the spies pressured Wei Zhao to open the gates. Wei Zhao took Hong Jie hostage, forbidding anyone from opening the gates.
Enraged, Elder Ji led a group to storm the city wall. Lu Yu gave the order to kill the first batch of spies. A Lang knelt in farewell to Elder Ji before taking his own life by smashing his head against the ground. The other spies followed his lead, choosing to die with honor. With a final command from Lu Yu, all the spies were killed.
Heavy snow began to fall, as if mourning for the brave spies who had sacrificed their lives. Everyone present was deeply moved. Lu Yu ordered the bodies of the spies to be piled together and fired upon with arrows. Seeing his dead son further desecrated, Elder Ji was overcome with grief and rushed forward, intending to fight Wei Zhao. Wei Zhao, witnessing the massacre of his people, was heartbroken.
The families of the spies surged forward, and Hong Jie, Yu Lian, and others struggled to hold them back. Wei Zhao rallied everyone to join in battle, urging them to drive away the Zhenyuan Army and honor the memory of the fallen.
