Love of Nirvana Episode 32 Recap
> Love of Nirvana Recap
Wei Zhao’s older sister, Xiao Yujia, was Emperor Xie Che’s concubine. She died from childbirth complications, and her death anniversary was approaching. Wei Zhao was deeply troubled and unable to find peace. He went to the imperial medical office to ask Doctor Sun for some calming medicine and took the opportunity to inquire about Xiao Yujia's cause of death. Doctor Sun was terrified.
He clearly remembered that when he arrived at the palace, Xiao Yujia was on the verge of death due to the childbirth complications. Xiao Yujia, consumed with despair, sought death, and despite his best efforts, Doctor Sun could not save her. The more Wei Zhao thought about it, the more something didn’t feel right. His sister Xiao Yujia cherished her unborn child more than her own life and would never have abandoned her baby.
Wei Zhao suspected foul play but had no solid evidence. So, he ordered Yi Fei to keep a close eye on the imperial medical office. Nanny Du, having planted a spy in the palace, learned that Wei Zhao was secretly investigating Concubine Wei’s death and immediately reported it to Rong Yudie. Confident in the number of spies she had placed within the palace, Rong Yudie was certain no one would uncover the truth.
Yi Fei kept a tight watch on the imperial medical office and noticed that Doctor Sun was acting suspiciously. He was seen reviewing Concubine Wei's medical records and studying the prescriptions for an extended time. Rong Yudie summoned Wei Zhao to explain her version of events, claiming that she had secretly taken in Xiao Yujia, who was a slave, and sent her to the palace as a spy.
According to Rong Yudie, Xiao Yujia didn’t die from childbirth complications but was poisoned with saffron by Emperor Xie Che. Wei Zhao refused to believe that Xie Che would commit such an act. Rong Yudie, however, was adamant and even proposed that she and Wei Zhao join forces to eliminate Xie Che. Seeing through Rong Yudie’s plot, Wei Zhao declined her offer, especially since he had already discovered that Rong Yudie had been behind the poisoning attempt on Jiang Ci.
Rong Yudie swore to first eliminate the Bright Guards and Wei Zhao, and then deal with Xie Che. Wei Zhao witnessed a noble family mistreating slaves from Yue Luo and immediately bought the slaves to set them free. Meanwhile, Pei Yan, determined to marry Jiang Ci, advised Rong Yudie to stop harming her. Rong Yudie, in an attempt to sow discord, claimed that Wei Zhao also had feelings for Jiang Ci, but Pei Yan was unfazed.
Jiang Ci, secretly drawing a map of the palace, looked for an opportunity to escape. Wei Zhao recalled that Jiang Ci wanted to cook a special porridge without bitterness for Yan Shuangqiao’s birthday, and coincidentally, the spiritual flowers Jiang Ci had planted in Yue Luo were in bloom. Wei Zhao sent someone to Yue Luo to ask Hong Jie for the flowers, personally delivering them to Jiang Ci, who used them to prepare the porridge.
Wei Zhao reminisced about the time he and his sister were on the run and how his sister had saved all the sweets for him to eat. Ever since then, Wei Zhao had developed the habit of adding sugar to his porridge. Jiang Ci felt deeply moved by his story. Once Jiang Ci finished preparing the porridge, Wei Zhao accompanied her to deliver it to Yan Shuangqiao, only to find that Yan Shuangqiao had suddenly disappeared.
Jiang Ci, in a panic, learned from Yi Fei that someone had brought gifts for her that day, and during the chaos, Yan Shuangqiao had been kidnapped. Wei Zhao suspected that Xie Che was behind it, and Jiang Ci decided to return to the palace immediately to gather information. Early the next day, Wei Zhao reported Yan Shuangqiao’s disappearance to Xie Che, who instructed him to investigate quietly to avoid alerting the perpetrator.
Pei Yan prepared a lavish meal and brought it to Jiang Ci, but she had no appetite. Despite his persistent pleas, Pei Yan could not persuade her to eat, and he left, disappointed. Jiang Ci then went to Xie Che to request permission to leave the palace to discuss her marriage with Yan Shuangqiao. Xie Che reassured her to focus on her marriage to Pei Yan.
Jiang Ci subtly probed and confirmed that Xie Che had not been involved in Yan Shuangqiao’s kidnapping. Xie Che soon arranged Jiang Ci’s marriage and set a wedding date with Pei Yan. Jiang Ci had no choice but to accept the decree. Wei Zhao, watching as the woman he loved was set to marry Pei Yan, was filled with complex emotions. Suspecting that Rong Yudie was behind Yan Shuangqiao’s abduction, Wei Zhao decided to confront her in person.
As expected, Rong Yudie had indeed orchestrated Yan Shuangqiao’s kidnapping. She was also opposed to Pei Yan’s marriage to Jiang Ci, claiming that Xie Che had ordered the poisoning of Jiang Ci. According to Rong Yudie, Xie Che had also killed Prince Qi, Xie Chun, and Rong Yudie’s sister, destroying her family to secure the throne. Rong Yudie wanted to join forces with Yan Shuangqiao to bring down Xie Che.
She proposed that Yan Shuangqiao expose Xie Che’s wrongdoings during the wedding, and once successful, she promised to let Yan Shuangqiao and Jiang Ci escape far away. Yan Shuangqiao agreed to work with Rong Yudie to uncover the truth. Wei Zhao confronted Rong Yudie, planning to take Yan Shuangqiao away. However, Rong Yudie instead tried to recruit Wei Zhao into her plan to force Xie Che to abdicate.
In return, she promised that once Crown Prince Xie Chi ascended the throne, Wei Zhao could bring justice to Yue Luo. Wei Zhao pretended to agree to cooperate, intending to wait until Xie Chi took the throne and granted amnesty across the land. Wei Zhao sent word to Jiang Ci, assuring her that Yan Shuangqiao was safe, finally putting her mind at ease.
