Love of Nirvana Episode 35 Recap
> Love of Nirvana Recap
Wei Zhao made a secret visit to the Dali Temple prison, where he asked Jiang Ci about all the details from the banquet hosted by Xie Chi. He carefully recorded everything, hoping to find out who framed Jiang Ci. He sent Yi Fei to verify each detail. Wei Zhao discovered that the Bai Guo Fu Rong soup Jiang Ci gave Xie Che was prepared by the palace maid Liu Cui.
He immediately interrogated Liu Cui, who admitted that she was placed in Yu Chun Pavilion by the chief eunuch, Tao Zizhu, to monitor Jiang Ci’s every move. However, Liu Cui swore that she saw Jiang Ci as a sister and would never harm her. Wei Zhao and Yi Fei conducted separate investigations but found nothing unusual. Wei Zhao began to suspect that Xie Che had poisoned himself to frame Jiang Ci and test his loyalty.
The more he thought about it, the more alarming it seemed. He knew Xie Yu had been coveting the crown prince's position for a long time and suspected that Xie Yu had poisoned Xie Che to frame Xie Chi. Wei Zhao sent Yi Fei to Lan Yue Pavilion to find some new songs and then led a team to thoroughly inspect the Eastern Palace.
Pei Yan couldn't stop thinking about Jiang Ci, but he was hesitant to visit her in the palace. When he heard that Jiang Ci was accused of poisoning Xie Che and had been thrown into prison, he immediately went to see Xie Chi. Meanwhile, Xie Yu went to Lan Yue Pavilion to drink and listen to songs. Wei Zhao purposefully visited him to probe and test his reactions, but Xie Yu remained distracted and indifferent.
When Wei Zhao left, he ran into Pei Yan, who had an appointment with Xie Chi at Lan Yue Pavilion. Pei Yan firmly believed that Jiang Ci wouldn’t poison anyone and begged Xie Chi to investigate the truth and clear her name. Xie Chi advised Pei Yan not to get involved, reminding him that Jiang Ci had already been taken to the Dali Temple.
Pei Yan wanted to see Jiang Ci one last time, and Xie Chi reluctantly agreed to arrange a meeting. Pei Yan visited Jiang Ci in prison, bringing along medicine prepared by Cui Liang. He swore to Jiang Ci that he would rescue her, but Jiang Ci had already lost hope. Pei Yan, seeing her desolation, grew anxious and reviewed all the events, suspecting that Xie Che had poisoned himself to eliminate Jiang Ci.
The realization terrified him, and he decided to use both Xie Chi and Xie Yu to clear Jiang Ci’s name. Tong Min secretly sneaked into Xie Yu’s residence at night to retrieve the knife used to carve the goose at the banquet, while Yi Fei also went to Xie Yu’s residence to investigate, where he unexpectedly ran into Tong Min.
Upon hearing from Tong Min that Wei Zhao was also secretly investigating Jiang Ci’s case, Pei Yan invited Wei Zhao to meet at Lan Yue Pavilion to discuss. Both men were determined to save Jiang Ci and came up with a plan. The Crown Princess had fallen unconscious from poisoning, and both she and Xie Che were found to have been poisoned with Jiu Jie Tao.
Pei Yan smeared the poison on the goose knife and had An Cheng secretly place it in Xie Yu’s trash, then tipped off Xie Chi about it. As Pei Yan had anticipated, Xie Chi brought the goose knife to Pei Yan, seeking advice. He couldn’t believe Xie Yu would poison Xie Che and wanted to confront him directly. Pei Yan advised him not to act rashly, suggesting that perhaps Xie Yu’s true target wasn’t Xie Che but Xie Chi himself.
Remembering that the Crown Princess had also been poisoned, Xie Chi became convinced of Pei Yan’s theory and agreed to hand the goose knife over to Lord Yin of the Censorate. This was all part of the plan that Pei Yan and Wei Zhao had devised to shift suspicion onto Xie Yu. Wei Zhao planned to persuade Jiang Ci to cooperate fully during the trial, promising to send her away from Qingkang afterward.
Meanwhile, Jiang Yuan was dispatched to investigate Wei Zhao’s background in Liangzhou and Yue Luo. He uncovered that Wei Zhao was the son of Yue Luo's City Lord, Xiao Haitian, and that Jiang Ci and Xiao Wuxia were married. Liu Cui came to visit Jiang Ci in prison, bringing the burnt remains of the clothes that Yan Shuangqiao had sewn for Jiang Ci.
Seeing the remnants brought back memories of her master’s tragic death, and Jiang Ci was overwhelmed with grief. Wei Zhao sent a message through Liu Cui, urging Jiang Ci to cooperate with the investigation to clear her name and avenge Yan Shuangqiao. Jiang Ci, reinvigorated, prepared for one final effort. Yin Yushi received the poisoned goose knife and immediately summoned Xie Chi, Xie Yu, and Dali Temple's minister, Yu Jiming, for a meeting.
Xie Yu recognized the knife as his own and accused Xie Chi of framing him, but Xie Chi vehemently denied it. Unsure of how to proceed, Yin Yushi suggested a joint trial between Dali Temple and the Censorate, to which Xie Chi agreed. Xie Yu, growing more enraged, invited Wei Zhao to Lan Yue Pavilion for drinks, where he vented his frustrations. Meanwhile, Xie Chi and Pei Yan visited Jiang Ci in prison.
Jiang Ci maintained that she had not poisoned anyone, though she had no idea who had framed her. Pei Yan subtly fanned the flames, leading Xie Chi to believe that Xie Yu was behind it, aiming to seize the crown prince's position. Xie Yu, by chance, saw Xie Chi visiting Jiang Ci in prison and dragged Wei Zhao along to confront them. Xie Yu insisted that Xie Chi was framing him and begged Jiang Ci to testify against Xie Chi during the trial.
