Yu Jiming and Lord Yin presided over the trial together, with Xie Chi, Xie Yu, Wei Zhao, Pei Yan, and others observing. Yu Jiming firmly accused Jiang Ci of being the one who poisoned Xie Che, but Jiang Ci vehemently defended herself. Lord Yin presented new evidence: the Crown Princess was also poisoned with Jiu Jie Tao, a poison hidden in the "Three Friends of Winter" set, which consisted of pine, bamboo, and plum.

This was a special arrangement prepared by Xie Chi for the banquet as a hand-washing ritual. Xie Chi subtly implied that Prince Zhuang, Xie Yu, had framed him, while Xie Yu defended himself fiercely. Lord Yin then brought out the goose knife tainted with the Jiu Jie Tao poison. Xie Yu accused Xie Chi of framing him, and both princes argued heatedly.

Jiang Ci defended herself publicly, pointing out that since both princes were suspected of poisoning, she should not be the only one imprisoned. Both Xie Chi and Xie Yu promised to help clear Jiang Ci’s name. The two brothers began to blame each other, arguing until they were red in the face. Xie Che, having heard the commotion, arrived with the person who had poisoned him: Tao Zizhu, the chief eunuch. Everyone present was stunned.

It turned out that Xie Che had instructed Tao Zizhu to send someone to Liangzhou to investigate Wei Zhao’s background. Tao Zizhu sent Jiang Yuan, who discovered that Wei Zhao was the son of Xiao Haitian, the Lord of Yue Luo, and that Jiang Ci and Xiao Wuxia were married.

Upon learning that Jiang Ci was being tried today, Xie Che guessed that Wei Zhao had orchestrated the entire situation to shift blame onto the two princes and exonerate Jiang Ci. Xie Che ordered Tao Zizhu to take the blame. Tao Zizhu confessed in court that he had poisoned Jiang Ci, but accidentally poisoned Xie Che in the process. Xie Che ordered Tao Zizhu to be imprisoned and told Jiang Ci to return to Yu Chun Pavilion to rest.

Xie Che detained Wei Zhao, leaving Jiang Ci confused. Pei Yan and Wei Zhao had previously arranged for Liu Cui to escort Jiang Ci out of the palace, but they were stopped by Jiang Yuan. From Jiang Yuan, Jiang Ci learned that Wei Zhao’s identity had been exposed, and she began to worry for him. Fortunately, Pei Yan arrived just in time to help Jiang Ci escape Jiang Yuan's interference.

Jiang Ci wanted to return to rescue Wei Zhao, but Pei Yan, not wanting her to take any more risks, knocked her unconscious and carried her out of the palace. Xie Che tested Wei Zhao in various ways, but Wei Zhao answered smoothly each time. Xie Che tried to persuade Wei Zhao to tell the truth, promising not to pursue the matter further, but Wei Zhao remained calm.

Xie Che then ordered Wei Zhao to issue a decree to Yue Luo, demanding that they send slaves to the kingdom of Da Liang three times a year. This struck a nerve with Wei Zhao, who advised Xie Che not to further harm Yue Luo. Just then, Jiang Yuan hurriedly reported that Jiang Ci had escaped. Xie Che, enraged, turned on Wei Zhao and imprisoned him in the slave arena, leaving him to fend for himself.

Jiang Ci woke up groggily and learned that Wei Zhao had been thrown into the deadly slave arena. She struggled to get up and save him, but Yi Fei stopped her with all his might. Meanwhile, Wei Zhao, surrounded by a large group of slaves, was forced to fight for his life as they relentlessly attacked him for a chance at survival. Wei Zhao fought back desperately.

Xie Che soon discovered that Xie Yu and Wei Zhao had colluded to frame Xie Chi. Xie Chi openly admitted it, believing that pushing Xie Chi harder would prove he was more suited to be the Crown Prince. However, Xie Che chose not to pursue the matter further, letting Xie Yu remain a carefree prince. Xie Yu, disheartened, lost all hope.

Witnessing the rivalry between the two princes, Xie Che was reminded of how their father had once placed high hopes on Prince Qi, Xie Chun, and he felt a pang of jealousy. Even on his deathbed, their father had warned him not to harm Xie Chun. Xie Che ordered a citywide search for Jiang Ci, while Tong Min followed Yi Fei, only to be caught by him.

At the same time, urgent news arrived from the front lines: Lu Yu had defected to the Wei Kingdom, and Emperor Gao Xiu of Wei had personally led his troops to invade Da Liang, seizing control of Zhuzhou. Lu Yu was now leading his troops toward Liangzhou, while the valiant General You Ran defended Liangzhou with all his might. Xie Che gathered his civil and military officials to discuss strategies.

Yue Jinglong volunteered to lead the army, while Xie Chi recommended Pei Yan. Lord Yin also suggested that Pei Yan be given command. After much deliberation, Xie Che reluctantly agreed. After leaving the palace, Jiang Ci hid at Lan Yue Pavilion. Determined to save Wei Zhao, she sent Yi Fei to summon Pei Yan, who readily agreed to help.

Xie Che consulted Pei Yan on military strategy, and Pei Yan suggested forming an alliance with Yue Luo to resist the Wei Kingdom. Xie Che, concerned that Yue Luo might fall into Wei’s hands, agreed to the plan. Pei Yan wanted Wei Zhao to assist him, and although Xie Che couldn't think of a better solution, he agreed. Pei Yan arrived at the slave arena and found that all the slaves had been killed and that Wei Zhao was gravely injured.

Pei Yan wanted to bring Wei Zhao along on the campaign, and Xie Che offered Wei Zhao a chance to redeem himself. He even gave Wei Zhao a miraculous medicine to heal his wounds quickly. Wei Zhao, eager to win a better future for the people of Yue Luo, took the pill on the spot. Jiang Ci was overjoyed when she learned that Pei Yan had rescued Wei Zhao.

She was deeply grateful and asked to join the army to treat the soldiers’ wounds. Pei Yan, unable to refuse her, reluctantly agreed. Pei Yan also had the noodle stall owner bring two bowls of lamb noodle soup, while Jiang Ci personally grilled crabs as a treat. After sharing this meal, Pei Yan finally let go of his lingering feelings for Jiang Ci.
