Love of Nirvana Episode 39 Recap
> Love of Nirvana Recap
The soldiers of Da Liang and Moonfall City formed the Liang-Moon Allied Army. Today marked their first battle, with Pei Yan and Wei Zhao delivering a pre-battle speech, urging everyone to unite in their fight against the Wei soldiers. Before departing, Wei Zhao came to bid farewell to Jiang Ci. She reminded him to be cautious and promised to wait for his return.
Unwilling to let Jiang Ci see him suffer from his poison attack after being injured, Wei Zhao knocked her unconscious when she wasn’t expecting it and instructed Uncle Ping to send her back to Jiangjia Village. Pei Yan and Wei Zhao led their troops to the front lines, while Lu Yu and Gao Xiu also brought their forces. Wei Zhao commanded from the headquarters as the Liang-Moon Allied Army fought courageously.
Gao Xiu ordered his soldiers to encircle the allied forces. At Wei Zhao’s command, Cui Liang directed ten Phoenix Crossbows to unleash a devastating assault on the Wei army’s camp, causing heavy casualties. Frightened, Gao Xiu fled in disarray. Wei Zhao and Pei Yan attacked from both sides, inflicting severe damage on the Wei forces. Despite being outnumbered, the Liang-Moon Allied Army achieved a decisive victory.
Wei Zhao captured Gao Xiu alive, who immediately wrote a letter of guarantee, promising not to invade Da Liang for the next ten years. The soldiers cheered in triumph, and Wei Zhao spotted Jiang Ci’s figure in the crowd. Upon hearing of the Liang-Moon Allied Army’s victory, Xie Che immediately led his troops back to the camp. Wei Zhao collapsed from the poison in his body, and Cui Liang arranged for him to be treated at a secret location in Moonfall.
When Wei Zhao groggily woke up, he saw Jiang Ci tending to him. He scolded her for returning after he had sent her away. Wei Zhao ordered Uncle Ping to escort Jiang Ci back to Jiangjia Village, but Jiang Ci was determined to face everything alongside Wei Zhao and had returned of her own accord. She carefully took care of him, and Wei Zhao was moved to tears.
Pei Yan came to visit Wei Zhao, who expressed his desire to reveal the truth behind King Qi, Xie Chun’s death in front of the army, and seek justice for his father, Xiao Haitian, and the people of Moonfall. Pei Yan agreed to help him fulfill this wish. After going through life-and-death battles together, Wei Zhao and Pei Yan had become true confidants.
Pei Yan brought Xie Chi to Moonfall and explained the hardships Moonfall had endured over the years, urging Xie Chi to seek justice for Moonfall. Xie Chi sought out Xie Che, persuading him to investigate the real cause of King Qi, Xie Chun’s death, and to bring justice to the soldiers and people of Moonfall. Under pressure, Xie Che reluctantly agreed to hold a grand celebration three days later. He summoned Wei Zhao to reward him for his achievements.
However, Wei Zhao attributed all the credit to the soldiers of Moonfall. Xie Che had heard rumors about a miracle doctor in Wei Zhao’s army, and though Wei Zhao made every effort to conceal the truth, Xie Che secretly resolved to eliminate him. Wei Zhao returned late to his quarters, where Jiang Ci had been waiting for him. She asked him to push her on the swing.
Jiang Ci carved the character “Ci” onto the swing, imagining a happy life with Wei Zhao. Wei Zhao was set to attend the celebration tomorrow and asked Jiang Ci to wait for him at home. Overcome with emotion, Wei Zhao kissed Jiang Ci, and they embraced each other, sharing an unforgettable night together. The next morning, Wei Zhao woke up and decorated the room, even putting on his wedding attire.
He performed a wedding ceremony alone, suspecting that Xie Che would use the celebration as an opportunity to harm Jiang Ci. He entrusted Yi Fei and Cui Liang with protecting her, then set off for the celebration. Pei Yan arrived early to accompany Wei Zhao, and together, they faced Xie Che. Xie Che sent Jiang Yuan to find Jiang Ci, planning to kill both her and Wei Zhao.
The celebration officially began, and Xie Che prepared to reward the Liang-Moon Allied Army. Xie Chi stepped forward to speak on behalf of the Moonfall soldiers, and Xie Che agreed to grant them rewards. Wei Zhao then stood up to overturn the case from twenty years ago, declaring that Xiao Haitian was not the one who killed King Qi, Xie Chun. Just as Wei Zhao was about to reveal the truth, the people of Moonfall unexpectedly arrived.
Xie Che admitted that he had invited them to witness the ceremony. Wei Zhao noticed the imperial guards surrounding the area and realized that Xie Che was using the lives of the people to threaten him. Unwilling to implicate the people of Moonfall, Wei Zhao refrained from exposing Xie Che as the true murderer and instead placed the blame for King Qi’s death on the Xiao family.
He knelt before Xie Che, pleading for the removal of Moonfall’s taxes and the restoration of freedom for its people. However, Xie Che refused to relent. Wei Zhao vowed his loyalty to Xie Che, while Pei Yan knelt to beg for mercy for the people of Moonfall. Xie Chi also pleaded with Xie Che to abolish the enslavement of the Moonfall citizens. Under pressure, Xie Che finally agreed to free Moonfall, and the people erupted in cheers. Xie Che then asked Wei Zhao to accompany him to the Star-Gazing Pavilion.
