Yu Baifeng asked Wen Peng if he had been confirmed as the male lead in the newly planned suspense drama. Wen Peng replied that two idol dramas had invited Yu Baifeng to play the lead, but Yu expressed a preference to take a year off for further training and to choose a more challenging script. Seeing Yu Baifeng's ambition, Wen Peng said he had already arranged for experts from the police academy to provide professional guidance in a few days.
Zhong Wenxuan prepared some daily necessities for Jiang Chengyi, and the couple drove to deliver them to his apartment complex. As they were moving the items, Lu Yan happened to return from work and arrived at the complex entrance. Jiang Chengyi quickly carried the items upstairs to his room. Lu Yan asked Tang Jie why they didn’t give her a heads-up, and Tang Jie gave an offhand excuse.
Zhong Wenxuan, holding an electric hotpot in his hand, directly suggested they have a meal together in Lu Yan's apartment. When they started preparing for the meal, Zhong Wenxuan stood by the window on purpose, teasing Jiang Chengyi. During dinner, he opened the window and asked Lu Yan what her attitude toward Jiang Chengyi was. Lu Yan replied that Jiang Chengyi wasn’t to blame for Wang Qianqian’s death, but she needed time to accept the reality.
Zhong Wenxuan deliberately shouted this out loud toward the window. While Lu Yan found Zhong Wenxuan’s behavior odd, Jiang Chengyi, on the other side, was thrilled. Meanwhile, the criminal investigation team detected frequent communication with Wang Qiang recently, and upon investigation, it turned out to be Liu Yujie. Jiang Chengyi, surprised to hear Liu Yujie’s name, instructed Qin Yue to continue monitoring her and to impersonate Wang Qiang in arranging a meeting.
Ding Jing called Jiang Chengyi, informing him about the planned family dinner the next day and asking him to pick her up. Jiang Chengyi bluntly replied that it wasn’t on his way, but Ding Jing was still pleased. She was also satisfied with the new outfit Liu Yujie had picked for her and once again urged Liu Yujie to contact Wang Qiang as soon as possible.
After Ding Jing left, Liu Yujie received a message from "Wang Qiang" inviting her to meet. Yu Baifeng attended classes at the police academy, and the director specifically introduced him to Yu Zheng, asking her to provide guidance. Since Wen Peng had donated a lab to the school, the principal felt compelled to accept the arrangement. However, Yu Zheng was uncooperative, as she already had a negative impression of Yu Baifeng due to the previous incident involving Wang Qianqian.
Despite Yu Baifeng lowering his stance, Yu Zheng dismissed him as a celebrity merely going through the motions and felt it wasn’t worth wasting her time. Liu Yujie waited to meet Wang Qiang but saw Jiang Chengyi approaching the restaurant with a group of people. Initially, Liu Yujie denied knowing Wang Qiang. When Qin Yue mentioned that Wang Qiang had been arrested, she changed her story, claiming they were middle school classmates.
Jiang Chengyi reminded her of the severity of assisting in a crime. Liu Yujie then revealed that Ding Jing had hired someone to take photos of Lu Yan but insisted she hadn’t participated herself. In the end, she was also taken to the criminal investigation team. While Lu Yan was on a night shift, Wen Peng came to the hospital to deliver an invitation to Ding Jing’s company’s porcelain exhibition, which Yu Baifeng was endorsing.
He invited Lu Yan to attend, but Lu Yan, uninterested in such events, politely declined. At the family dinner with Jiang Chengyi and Ding Jing’s families, Ding Jing’s mother brought up the topic of the two children’s marriage prospects. Jiang Chengyi’s mother, who didn’t favor Ding Jing, quickly replied that the children had their own opinions and that parents shouldn’t force things.
Ding Jing then handed everyone in the Jiang family an invitation to the porcelain exhibition, inviting them to attend. After the meal, Jiang Chengyi stayed behind to chat with Ding Jing. Ding Jing, thinking Jiang Chengyi might finally have feelings for her, was overjoyed. However, Jiang Chengyi suddenly mentioned that he and Lu Yan had both seen Deng Man recently, which made Ding Jing nervous. Jiang Chengyi then returned the invitation card to her.
Frustrated, Ding Jing questioned why Jiang Chengyi wouldn’t accept her. Jiang Chengyi explained that he didn’t want her to waste her time. As Ding Jing walked into the underground parking lot, Lu Yan appeared and directly confronted her, asking if she was responsible for Deng Man’s death. Ding Jing denied it and sarcastically labeled Lu Yan a jinx, saying every close friend of hers seemed to end up in trouble.
After Ding Jing left, Lu Yan became increasingly convinced that there was more to Deng Man’s death than met the eye. She decided to attend Wen Peng’s porcelain exhibition to investigate further.
