As soon as Wen Peng got off the plane and heard about Yu Baifeng’s injury, he immediately called to express his concern. However, Yu Baifeng was still focused on the role of the serial killer in the film. Wen Peng informed him that the audition had already ended but promised to help secure other opportunities in the future.
Wen Peng also offered to visit him at the hospital, but Yu Baifeng, aware of Wen Peng's busy schedule with a new project, told him to prioritize company matters first. Yu Zheng, on behalf of the special investigation team, visited Yu Baifeng in the hospital. Yu Baifeng was very touched. When Yu Zheng asked why he hadn’t informed his family, Yu Baifeng confessed that he had falsified information on his resume.
He explained that his parents had passed away from illness when he was very young, and he had been raised by a kind neighbor, an aunt, who tragically died in an accident when he was 17. Director Chen Chang, who had just transitioned to directing films, expressed interest in collaborating with Yu Baifeng. However, Wen Peng believed that Chen lacked resources due to his recent career shift and declined the collaboration. The assistant also mentioned that actress Liu Ruke had thrown a tantrum on set, causing dissatisfaction among collaborators. Additionally, Yu Zheng had spent some time alone with Yu Baifeng at the hospital, raising concerns about its potential impact on him.
After the assistant left, Zhong Wenxuan visited Wen Peng's office, bringing two bottles of fine wine. He earnestly asked Wen Peng to give him an opportunity, explaining that Tang Jie was pregnant and he needed extra income. During their conversation, Zhong casually mentioned that Jiang Chengyi and Lu Yan had reconciled, causing Wen Peng’s expression to turn serious. Oblivious to this, Zhong continued talking until Wen Peng excused himself for an urgent meeting, prompting Zhong to leave.
Later, Liu Ruke came to see Wen Peng. He sternly listed her recent negative behaviors, leaving her speechless with fear. Wen Peng reminded her that he had the power to make or break her career, warning her to follow the rules moving forward. Jiang Chengyi and Lu Yan began living openly as a couple, enjoying meals, sleeping, and playing games together—relishing the happiness of being in love. Meanwhile, the investigation team completed their inquiry into Chengzhou.
They discovered that Li Ruonan’s mother, Yan Mei, had mysteriously disappeared. Because the area was remote and lacked communication infrastructure, the locals were unaware of Yan Mei’s disappearance. Jiang Chengyi deduced that such a remote location made it unlikely for her to vanish without reason and suspected someone had deliberately taken her away. He instructed Qin Yue to contact the local police and thoroughly investigate the incident.
Lin Xiaoman was about to be discharged from the hospital and felt upset that Wen Peng hadn’t fulfilled his promise to take her to an ice-skating rink. As Lu Yan comforted her, Wen Peng entered the room, handing her tickets to the rink. After leaving the room, Wen Peng invited Lu Yan to dinner. However, Lu Yan explained that Jiang Chengyi might pick her up from work soon, so she probably couldn’t go.
As they walked toward the meeting room, Jiang Chengyi was already waiting for Lu Yan. They listened to Director Han’s tips on dating, and Jiang’s mother called to ask about his relationship with Lu Yan. Jiang Chengyi turned the camera toward Lu Yan, causing his mother to stop asking out of embarrassment. Wen Peng, seeing their affectionate interaction, excused himself, claiming he had other matters to attend to, and left the hospital.
That evening, Jiang Chengyi invited Lu Yan to visit his family over the weekend. Lu Yan thought it was too sudden, pointing out that they were skipping a step before meeting the family. Jiang Chengyi guessed that Lu Yan wanted a formal confession of love, so he awkwardly strung together some romantic words. However, Lu Yan wasn’t satisfied. Frustrated, Jiang Chengyi pulled her into his arms and onto the bed, where they shared an intimate night together.
On Wen Peng’s father’s birthday, only Wen Peng went to the restaurant to celebrate. His father complained that Wen Peng was becoming increasingly dismissive of him. Wen Peng, now more independent, sarcastically remarked that his father had no friends or close family and warned that one day, he too would leave him. After saying this, Wen Peng left, leaving his father alone in the restaurant to reflect.
Back at the villa, Wen Peng received a message from his mother asking when he would return to the country. It turned out she was unaware that he had already come back. Wen Peng decided not to reply.
