Love Song in Winter Episode 28 Recap
> Love Song in Winter Recap
Yu Baifeng’s injury incident was not severe, and with Jiang Chengyi’s letter of forgiveness, he was placed under administrative detention at the Limin Police Station for five days. Meanwhile, Yu Zheng spent several days at the criminal police unit watching dramas produced by Wen Peng’s company and researching online for information related to Runying Company. Jiang Chengyi’s father, upon hearing about his son’s injury, called and asked him to come home.
Learning that Jiang Chengyi had written a letter of forgiveness, his father recounted a similar incident he had experienced years ago. He reminded Jiang Chengyi that certain situations require firmness and that being overly lenient or protective could be a flaw. Though it may appear to help the perpetrator, it ultimately harms them. Zhong Wenxuan and Yuan Dalu brought the signed contract to Jiang Chengyi for analysis.
Jiang Chengyi found that the contract was poorly drafted and heavily favored Wen Peng’s side. Zhong Wenxuan explained that he trusted Wen Peng as an old classmate and didn’t think much of it initially. However, now he found himself trapped and dared not consider the consequences. Additionally, they discovered that Mr. Ke had a criminal record and was not a professional film investor. They suspected that Wen Peng had colluded with Mr. Ke to scam them.
Jiang Chengyi suggested investigating Wen Peng’s company further. Yu Zheng visited the detention center to check on Yu Baifeng, but he refused to meet her. She left a letter with the guards to pass along to him. She then returned to the criminal police unit and continued watching Runying Company’s productions. Suddenly, she spotted Li Ruonan on the film set in one of the clips and immediately called Jiang Chengyi.
The behind-the-scenes footage featured Li Ruonan, but her name wasn’t listed in the credits. Yu Zheng sought out the film’s martial arts director, Liu Lin, and showed him a photo of Li Ruonan. Liu Lin vaguely remembered her, noting that she had used a fake name and kept to herself on set. She seemed highly money-conscious and had a dispute with the assistant director over her payment when the film wrapped. Wen Peng eventually stepped in to resolve the matter.
This connected Wen Peng to everyone involved, yet he always had an alibi and never directly took action. Jiang Chengyi deduced that Li Ruonan was likely Wen Peng’s "hands," and Wen Peng might have manipulated Yan Mei to ensure Li Ruonan’s loyalty. He instructed Yu Zheng and Liu Hao to go to Chengzhou to investigate Li Ruonan’s background and Yan Mei’s whereabouts. Qin Yue was tasked with thoroughly checking Wen Peng’s household registration.
Qin Yue quickly retrieved Wen Peng’s registration information and showed it to Jiang Chengyi. When Jiang Chengyi saw that Wen Peng’s mother’s name was He Yan, he was startled. Further checking the ID number, he confirmed it was his own mother. Jiang Chengyi rushed home to confront his mother directly, asking if she was also Wen Peng’s mother. He Yan was surprised and admitted she had never mentioned Wen Peng to Jiang Chengyi.
Jiang Chengyi recounted Wen Peng’s activities in recent years, noting that they had been in the same year in university. Wen Peng had left school without graduating to go abroad and returned to China after two or three years. However, He Yan had always believed Wen Peng was still overseas and couldn’t understand why he had hidden the truth from her. Overwhelmed, she retreated to her room in distress.
Jiang Chengyi’s father comforted him, reminding him to uphold his principles as a police officer and assuring him that his mother would eventually understand. Wen Peng visited the detention center to see Yu Baifeng, deliberately inciting hatred toward Jiang Chengyi. Naively, Yu Baifeng agreed, vowing to confront Jiang Chengyi once he was released. Jiang Chengyi returned home late at night to find Lu Yan still awake.
He told her about the revelation that Wen Peng’s mother was also his own mother. He finally understood why Wen Peng had always held animosity toward him, recalling the tension he had felt since they joined the university basketball team. Now, the real reason was clear.
