Love Song in Winter Episode 32 Recap
> Love Song in Winter Recap
Before undergoing surgery, Lu Yan’s mother was found to have high blood sugar levels during a pre-surgery checkup. When the doctor asked a few questions, it came to light that she had been secretly taking medication for her condition, not wanting to worry Lu Yan. Lu Yan urged her mother to take better care of her health. However, Lu Yan’s mother was more concerned about the upcoming meeting between the two families.
Lu Yan reassured her that arrangements had already been made with Jiang Chengyi, and both parents would meet that evening. Excited, Lu Yan’s mother planned to buy a new outfit and get her hair done. Lu Yan had to leave early due to other commitments. Meanwhile, Wen Peng's assistant, Wu Di, secretly recorded their conversation and sent it to Wen Peng. Displeased with the idea of Lu Yan and Jiang Chengyi getting engaged, Wen Peng began scheming to stop it.
After leaving the office, Wen Peng was discreetly followed by Qin Yue and Liu Hao, who saw him enter a shopping mall. While shopping for clothes, Lu Yan’s mother got into a dispute with two middle-aged women. Wen Peng stepped in and quickly resolved the matter. Grateful, Lu Yan’s mother introduced herself. Wen Peng also introduced himself, and she remembered that he had visited Lu Yan in the hospital during their university days.
Realizing he and Jiang Chengyi were also alumni, she mentioned the evening’s meeting with Jiang Chengyi’s parents and explained that she was shopping for a new outfit. Wen Peng cheerfully continued chatting with her and even offered to drive her home. On the way, they talked extensively about Lu Yan. When Lu Yan’s mother mentioned that Jiang Chengyi’s mother was particularly eager about the marriage, Wen Peng felt a mix of emotions.
His biological mother cared deeply for Jiang Chengyi but seemed entirely oblivious to his own preferences and feelings. As Lu Yan’s mother got out of the car and prepared to cross the street to a restaurant, a van suddenly appeared from behind and hit her hard, knocking her aside. Jiang Chengyi, who had just arrived, rushed over. Bystanders called for emergency services, and Jiang Chengyi immediately took Lu Yan’s mother to the hospital. ---While trying to flee, Wang Yifan was apprehended.
Liu Hao presented a fabricated confession, claiming that Wen Peng had been arrested and had implicated Wang Yifan in the murder of Yan Mei. Falling for the ploy, Wang Yifan angrily revealed that Wen Peng had orchestrated everything. Wen Peng had offered 300,000 yuan to ensure Yan Mei’s body was cremated.
Tempted by the money but unable to navigate the process as a temporary worker at the funeral home, Wang Yifan had secretly transported Yan Mei’s body out of the funeral home and buried it under an octagonal pavilion in the Western Hills. Qin Yue investigated the driver who had hit Lu Yan’s mother and discovered a connection to a previous truck driver, with both having been instructed by Wu Di.
Sensing the police had gathered substantial evidence, Wen Peng instructed Wu Di to take all the blame. However, Wu Di, grateful for Wen Peng’s years of care for his family, refused to betray him. Wen Peng then asked Wu Di to find him a second-hand car. ---Lu Yan’s mother underwent emergency surgery for extensive brain hemorrhaging but needed to be moved to the ICU for further observation.
Overwhelmed with grief, Lu Yan struggled to cope, while Jiang Chengyi, guilt-ridden, couldn’t find the words to comfort her. He blamed himself for everything, recalling Wen Peng’s warning that as long as he stayed with Lu Yan, more people would get hurt. Despite his efforts to protect her, even her mother had now been dragged into the mess. Liu Hao informed Jiang Chengyi of Wang Yifan’s confession. Jiang Chengyi immediately ordered Wen Peng’s arrest.
When officers arrived at Wen Peng’s company to deliver the warrant, his secretary revealed that he hadn’t shown up all day, and his whereabouts were unknown. A search of his villa also turned up empty, though they discovered a hidden room on the second floor. The Chengzhou police retrieved DNA from the remains buried under the octagonal pavilion and confirmed a match with Li Ruonan. This identified the victim as Yan Mei.
Upon learning that Wen Peng had deceived her for two years, Li Ruonan could no longer stay silent and disclosed all details of her dealings with Wen Peng. Wen Peng admitted that he had been willing to do anything for his mother, who had received the best medical care he could provide. He had once pretended to scare Lu Yan by impersonating Deng Man and later kidnapped Ding Jing.
Ding Jing had evidence that Wen Peng had plotted against Deng Man. When Wen Peng tried to retrieve this evidence, he accidentally killed Ding Jing. He later used Yan Mei to coerce others into retrieving the evidence for him. Jiang Chengyi informed Li Ruonan that this would be her final interrogation and offered to fulfill any wishes she had. Li Ruonan requested to be buried alongside her mother after her death.
