Qin Yue was unable to find the evidence Ding Jing had hidden. Jiang Chengyi believed it was still in her house, so he led a team back to search Ding Jing’s home. Ding Jing’s father pleaded with Jiang Chengyi not to overlook any corner, while her mother, having been hospitalized several times since Ding Jing's incident, was preparing to sell the house and move to a new environment for a fresh start.
The team split up to search thoroughly, leaving no area untouched, including the living room, hallways, and basement. Finally, they found the evidence on Ding Jing’s bedroom vanity. The USB drive was taken back to the criminal investigation unit. When they played the files, they uncovered a video of Zhou Zhicheng and Deng Man’s secret meeting and a recording of a conversation between Wen Peng and Ding Jing.
It turned out that the video had been filmed by Wen Peng, who had given it to Ding Jing to threaten Deng Man. Everything had been orchestrated by Wen Peng. Lu Yan’s mother finally showed signs of independent breathing and was transferred to a specialized ward in the evening. Jiang Chengyi went to the hospital to help care for her and asked Zhong Wenxuan to take Tang Jie home to rest.
That night, Jiang Chengyi saw Lu Yan sleeping by her mother’s bedside and felt deeply pained. He went out to buy some bread for her to eat. The two of them sat outside the ward to eat. Feeling guilty, Jiang Chengyi spoke cautiously, but Lu Yan reassured him not to blame himself. She said she now had the strength to care for her mother.
In the past, she would habitually avoid problems, but this time, she wanted to face everything together with Jiang Chengyi. Deeply moved, Jiang Chengyi held Lu Yan tightly in his arms. After being arrested, Zhou Zhicheng saw the video evidence provided by the police and confessed everything he knew. Three years earlier, he had been diagnosed with cancer.

Wen Peng later approached him, offering to help pay for his chemotherapy on the condition that he stop making anonymous complaints. When he tried to leave Ninghai, the police pursued him, and during the chase, he called Wen Peng, who arranged for a truck to ram into the police car. After the interrogation, Liu Hao informed Zhou Zhicheng that, considering his family’s special circumstances, they would apply for medical care on his behalf. After Wu Di was taken into custody, he confessed everything he had done for Wen Peng.
He admitted that Wen Peng had threatened him with his family’s safety, leaving him no choice but to comply. He also revealed that Wen Peng had installed miniature surveillance devices in his apartment, which could serve as evidence. Wu Di further disclosed that Wen Peng’s last request was to contact a used car dealer. When Qin Yue and Liu Hao led a team to the second-hand car market, they found Wen Peng driving a car, seemingly waiting for the police.
Jiang Chengyi, upon learning this, immediately rushed to track him. Wen Peng drove to an abandoned factory. Qin Yue followed him but stayed in his car at first. Inside the factory, Wen Peng set up electrical switches and prepared a large quantity of dust. Worried about losing track of Wen Peng, Qin Yue got out of his car to search.
As he neared Wen Peng, Qin Yue suddenly stepped on a weak spot in the floor and fell from the second floor. A pile of steel pipes fell on him, with one piercing through his leg, leaving him immobile. Wen Peng began dumping large amounts of dust. Jiang Chengyi quickly located Qin Yue’s trapped position. Seeing Jiang Chengyi trying to rescue Qin Yue, Wen Peng shut off the electrical switches, causing a fire to spread rapidly. Jiang Chengyi sped up the rescue, pulling Qin Yue out of the factory just as an explosion erupted behind them.
