Upon hearing the word "police," Lu Yan immediately became anxious and ran outside to see what had happened. When the ambulance arrived, Jiang Chengyi and Qin Yue were carried out. After some time in the emergency room, Jiang Chengyi was diagnosed with a mild concussion and external injuries, and he was declared out of immediate danger. The head of the criminal investigation department visited both officers in the hospital. Jiang Chengyi received the notification and left the hospital to join the operation. After a lengthy chase involving substantial police forces, they discovered three identical vehicles. It turned out that Wen Peng had bribed three individuals to impersonate him, while he himself was near the hospital. Later that evening, after hospital visiting hours, Wen Peng sneaked into the room where Lu Yan’s mother was staying. Lu Yan, who came to care for her mother that night, noticed a shadow moving behind the curtain. When she approached, she found Wen Peng.
He immediately used ether to render her unconscious and disguised as a doctor to take Lu Yan out of the hospital. Jiang Chengyi, upon receiving the report, reviewed the surveillance footage. He saw Wen Peng putting Lu Yan into a black Buick and used the public security system to locate the vehicle. The car was found abandoned on the outskirts of the city at an intersection, with a missing construction vehicle likely used to transfer her.
The next morning, Lu Yan woke up to find herself tied to a wheelchair. Wen Peng revealed that he had specially purchased a lakeside villa for her, claiming it was because Lu Yan once mentioned liking Lake Baikal. He had chosen a scenic lakeside area and begged her to live with him from now on. Lu Yan felt nothing but disgust. Wen Peng brought out a birthday cake, stating it was his birthday and insisting that Lu Yan celebrate with him.
When he tried to feed her cake, Lu Yan refused to open her mouth, which infuriated him. Meanwhile, a team of criminal investigators discovered the abandoned construction vehicle in a nature reserve. Jiang Chengyi immediately dispatched personnel to the area. Later, Wen Peng took Lu Yan to the villa’s entrance to set off fireworks. Even though Lu Yan refused to look, Wen Peng felt blissfully happy, believing that everything he had done was worth it for this moment.
Jiang Chengyi analyzed possible locations where Wen Peng might be hiding. He suddenly remembered a photo of a lake found in Wen Peng’s secret room. On the back of the photo were the words, “Please come with me to see Lake Baikal, Lu Yan. ” The connection clicked: Wen Peng might be at a lake near the nature reserve.
