This sparks a marital "battle" between the two, centered on the true meaning of their relationship.

Married Recap

Episode 1 Recap

Ning Yue is a lawyer, an honorary employee at her law firm, and a constant winner in the courtroom—a rising star with boundless potential. Initially destined to be the protagonist of a successful career-oriented life, four years later, she became a wife, with her daily responsibilities revolving around managing household tasks. Ning Yue's husband, Hu Cheng, is also a successful professional.

They have a clear division of labor—Ning Yue focuses on taking care of the home and supporting her husband so that Hu Cheng can fully concentrate on his career. Now that their child has grown up, Ning Yue is ready to return to her career path. During her time away from formal work, she never gave up her professional skills.

She continued offering online legal consultations and, with Hu Cheng's support, took on pro bono cases, maintaining a steady work rhythm. Ning Yue received an offer from a company. When Hu Cheng found out, he wasn’t pleased. He had been planning for a second child, but Ning Yue had made her career decision without discussing it with him, which upset him. Hu Cheng persistently attempted to manipulate Ning Yue emotionally, claiming he was worried about her old health issues recurring.

However, no matter what he said, Ning Yue stuck to her own plans. At this point, Hu Cheng decided to let it go. While working as a community lawyer, Ning Yue took on a divorce case. The husband in the family had cheated, and the wife wanted evidence to proceed with the divorce. However, their child found out about the situation.

In the child's eyes, his father was the best dad in the world, and he couldn’t believe his father would betray his mother. Instead, he blamed Ning Yue, thinking she had ruined his parents’ relationship. The child, Congcong, had classmates whose parents divorced, and after the father remarried, his classmate lost the fatherly love he once had. Congcong was determined not to let his parents divorce.

In desperation, Congcong threatened to jump from a building to force his mother to return home. Tragically, he accidentally fell, sustaining serious injuries and ending up hospitalized. When Ning Yue visited the hospital, she learned that photos of Congcong’s father’s affair had been posted online. Congcong’s mother accused Ning Yue of leaking the photos and blamed her for harming her child.

Fortunately, Hu Cheng arrived in time to shield Ning Yue, telling Congcong’s mother that it was her husband’s actions that had hurt the child and that she shouldn’t place the blame on someone else. Ning Yue looked at the online photos in confusion, as she was the only one who had access to them. However, she hadn’t shared them online, as basic professional ethics forbade such actions.

When Ning Yue questioned Hu Cheng about the photos, he avoided answering directly, turned off his phone, and prepared a glass of water with sleeping pills for her to drink. Ning Yue didn’t suspect him. Hu Cheng explained that when he couldn’t reach her, he contacted the service station to learn what had happened, which allowed him to rush to the hospital in time. Ning Yue believed him without question.

Because of this incident, Ning Yue became the target of online harassment and ended up losing the job she had secured. Her mental state began to deteriorate, and she started having nightmares. Worried that her depression was resurfacing, Hu Cheng took her to see a doctor. Throughout the consultation, Hu Cheng subtly guided the doctor to suggest that Ning Yue wasn’t fit to work. However, the doctor remained professional and refrained from making absolute statements.

Later, Hu Cheng insisted that Ning Yue take medication, and although she felt it wasn’t necessary, she complied. Ning Yue discovered that the consulting service station was funded and sponsored by Hu Cheng, but she didn’t blame him. Hu Cheng, meanwhile, was secretly pleased that Ning Yue had lost her job, feeling that his goal had been achieved. Although Ning Yue never doubted Hu Cheng’s love for her, she began to sense that something was changing.

Ning Yue’s son, Hu Ziyuan, had a classmate who lived next door. This led Ning Yue to be dragged into gatherings with other mothers, something she didn’t particularly enjoy. One day, she overheard a conversation between two of the mothers and realized that everything—her involvement in these gatherings and more—had been orchestrated by Hu Cheng. Feeling increasingly uneasy, Ning Yue started to feel like a puppet under Hu Cheng’s control.

Episode 2 Recap

The photos of Congcong's father’s affair were indeed uploaded online under Hu Cheng’s arrangement. Everything Hu Cheng did was to ensure that Ning Yue remained under his control. He trusted no one, not even Ning Yue, and relied solely on his own judgment. He even taught his son this way—no matter who says something, even parents, trust only yourself. One day, Ning Yue gave Hu Cheng a dark-colored tie to wear, but he didn’t like it.

On his way to work, he secretly switched to a light-colored tie he preferred. At work, a senior employee commented on how Hu Cheng looked better in the dark-colored tie, which irritated Hu Cheng. Using the employee’s prior surgery as a pretext, Hu Cheng dismissed him under the guise of letting him rest and recover.

To maintain his image, Hu Cheng staged a dramatic performance in front of the other employees, claiming the senior employee no longer contributed to the company, misused company funds, and was essentially a parasite. He presented this as a painful but necessary decision to protect the company. Hu Cheng’s goal was to solidify employee loyalty while protecting his reputation. Although Lao Song left the company, he didn’t give up on fighting for his rights.

Hoping for higher compensation, he decided to hire a lawyer—Ning Yue’s former colleague, Qin Can. Confident in his skills, Qin Can agreed to take on Lao Song’s case, provided his claims were true. Meanwhile, Xiao Zhu, who had worked at the service station under Hu Cheng’s orders, no longer needed to stay there since Ning Yue was no longer involved. As Lao Song’s legal representative, Qin Can met with Hu Cheng.

Despite his youth, Qin Can showed no fear in front of the cunning Hu Cheng and firmly rejected any offers of settlement, advising Hu Cheng to prepare for a legal battle. This left Hu Cheng in a sour mood. Meanwhile, Tian Qiuzi, Hu Cheng’s mistress, visited his office under the pretense of discussing legal contracts but was actually there to accompany him. The two became intimate in the office.

Elsewhere, Ning Yue went to the hospital and happened to see Xiao Zhu giving a sum of money to Congcong’s mother. She confronted Congcong’s mother for an explanation, but the latter refused to discuss the matter further and asked Ning Yue not to come again. After leaving the hospital, Ning Yue followed Xiao Zhu’s car and was surprised to discover him returning to Hu Cheng’s company. To her shock, she witnessed Xiao Zhu speaking with Hu Cheng.

Even more startling, she saw Hu Cheng behaving intimately with Tian Qiuzi and personally driving her away. When Ning Yue returned home, she directly questioned Hu Cheng about Xiao Zhu. Hu Cheng launched into his usual manipulative rhetoric. Ning Yue didn’t press further but instead asked if there was anything else he needed to confess. Hu Cheng avoided mentioning anything about the woman in question. Knowing Hu Cheng wouldn’t tell the truth, Ning Yue chose not to ask further.

Hu Cheng and his senior colleague signed a major project deal, which made him ecstatic. To ensure it wouldn’t disrupt the company’s plans for going public, they decided to resolve Lao Song’s case by paying him off. Lao Song accepted the money and agreed to a settlement. This outcome took Qin Can by surprise, leaving him feeling that all their efforts during this time had been in vain.

Frustrated and self-doubting, Qin Can began questioning his ability to protect his clients’ rights. He tendered his resignation, but his leader refused to accept it, encouraging him to reconsider. The leader reminded him not to view situations too narrowly and to take a broader perspective.

Episode 3 Recap

Ning Yue decided that she would no longer let Hu Cheng manipulate her. She was determined to take control of her own life in her own way. Her first step was to go to the service station where she had previously worked, hoping to retrieve some information from the computer. However, she found that the computer had been reformatted.

Undeterred, she secretly took the hard drive and sent it off for data recovery, hoping to restore some of the lost files. Ning Yue’s mother was receiving treatment in the hospital, and Hu Cheng would check in on her daily. Ning Yue’s mother treated Hu Cheng very well. One day, Hu Cheng called to ask about Ning Yue’s presence at the hospital, which allowed him to feel at ease and spend time with Tian Qiuzi.

Knowing that Ning Yue wasn’t at home, Tian Qiuzi volunteered to drop Hu Cheng off downstairs. As luck would have it, Ning Yue arrived home just as they were getting out of the car. Hu Cheng was visibly nervous, but Ning Yue remained calm. She complimented Tian Qiuzi’s hairstyle, using the opportunity to ask for the name of her hairstylist and even adding her on WeChat.

Hu Cheng was suspicious of Ning Yue’s sudden return home, but Ning Yue explained that she had to leave because of a sudden medical checkup at the hospital. Later that evening, Hu Cheng secretly contacted the hospital to confirm her story, which eased his worries. Nevertheless, Hu Cheng remained cautious and told Tian Qiuzi not to contact him for the time being. The next day, Hu Cheng had planned to take Tian Qiuzi to see a movie that she liked.

However, because of the sudden events, Tian Qiuzi went alone. She intentionally posted on her social media, and Ning Yue saw it. In response, Ning Yue decided to take Hu Cheng and their son to see the same movie and also posted about it. Tian Qiuzi was furious, but Hu Cheng knew exactly how to soothe her, and she quickly calmed down. He enjoyed the sense of control he had over others while still being loved by them.

The fifth wedding anniversary of Ning Yue and Hu Cheng arrived, and Ning Yue purposely reminded him. Wanting to maintain his image as a loving husband, Hu Cheng enlisted his senior colleague to help organize a ceremony, inviting all the employees of the company. There had been rumors circulating in the office about Hu Cheng’s ambiguous relationship with Tian Qiuzi, so this gesture was also meant to silence any gossip.

At the ceremony, Hu Cheng made a passionate declaration of love to Ning Yue, and some people took photos and videos. Tian Qiuzi saw the post on social media, which left her feeling both hurt and angry. She decided to break up with Hu Cheng. Ning Yue noticed that something seemed off with Hu Cheng. She suggested that they leave early after dinner, and surprisingly, Hu Cheng immediately agreed.

Ning Yue, sensing that Tian Qiuzi had likely sent him a message, told Hu Cheng to stay busy while she took a taxi home. Knowing that Hu Cheng would go to meet Tian Qiuzi, Ning Yue secretly followed him. As she suspected, she confirmed her doubts. Tian Qiuzi, upset with Hu Cheng, slapped him, but Hu Cheng kissed her, and she immediately stopped protesting.

Meanwhile, the hard drive that Ning Yue had sent for repair was returned to her, and inside, she found divorce documents for Mrs. He. As she looked back, she remembered having asked Xiao Zhu to help fix a computer in the past. It occurred to her that the leak of Mrs. He’s private information must have been orchestrated by Hu Cheng through Xiao Zhu.

Ning Yue learned from Sister Xia that Xiao Zhu was leaving and decided to see him off at the airport. There, she subtly prompted him to reveal that it had been Hu Cheng who had arranged for Mrs. He’s information to be leaked. Ning Yue, being a lawyer, had recorded the entire conversation. Determined to divorce Hu Cheng, Ning Yue contacted a lawyer friend.

This divorce wouldn’t just be about Hu Cheng’s infidelity; it would also address the issue of him leaking confidential client information, which had led to a tragic incident where a client’s son had jumped from a building. Hu Cheng would have to take responsibility for the consequences of his actions.

Episode 4 Recap

Hu Cheng felt that Ning Yue had been out for quite some time, so he decided to take their child to the supermarket to look for her. After meeting with her lawyer friend, Ning Yue immediately went to the supermarket. She knew that Hu Cheng would be suspicious, so she made sure to play her part. Ning Yue bought a lot of things, and when Hu Cheng saw her in the supermarket, his stern expression finally relaxed a little.

That evening, Hu Cheng had prepared a candlelit dinner. He wanted a second child, but Ning Yue didn't want to confront him directly. Instead, she took out her pregnancy check-up report. Given her age and the fact that their son Hu Ziyuan had often been sick after his birth, she felt it was better to be cautious and wait until her health allowed her to have another child. This way, Hu Cheng couldn't really argue.

To cooperate with Hu Cheng's desire for a second child, Ning Yue began to take action. She made an appointment at a urology clinic for Hu Cheng and bought some medication. She also began researching ways to conceive a second child. This way, Hu Cheng wouldn't be suspicious and would gradually abandon the idea of having another child.

Sure enough, when he saw that Ning Yue was preparing medication for him, he didn't cooperate and wasn't interested in going to the hospital. However, Ning Yue knew she couldn't give up trying to persuade him, or he would start to notice something was wrong. Ning Yue knew that Hu Cheng was cautious, so she figured she wouldn’t find any evidence of his infidelity directly from him. Instead, she decided to focus on the people around him.

Previously, she had noticed that Hu Cheng didn’t know how to book hotels on his phone, so she found an excuse to invite Hu Cheng’s assistant, Xiao Ma, to her home and try to extract information. To her surprise, she was able to get it. Hu Cheng had gone to the seaside that day, and Ning Yue saw a video of the seaside on Tian Qiuzi’s social media.

It was a place she, Hu Cheng, and their child had visited before. Today was Tian Qiuzi’s birthday, and she had deliberately taken Hu Cheng there because she had seen Ning Yue’s post and was angry, so she did it on purpose. Ning Yue soon found out which hotel Hu Cheng and Tian Qiuzi were staying at, so she immediately sent the information to her lawyer.

The lawyer sent someone to take photos of Hu Cheng and Tian Qiuzi embracing by the seaside. Later, Tian Qiuzi spent 200,000 yuan to get a membership card for that hotel. When Ning Yue found out, she understood it was intentional. The place held special significance for both Hu Cheng and her, and Tian Qiuzi wanted Hu Cheng to associate the seaside with only their memories.

Tian Qiuzi gave the membership card to Hu Cheng as a gift, clearly marking her possessiveness. Hu Cheng, afraid of angering Tian Qiuzi, reluctantly accepted it. Ning Yue intentionally cut off the internet at home and contacted her child’s kindergarten teacher to have Hu Ziyuan’s water bottle sent to the house, asking for it to be cash on delivery. When Hu Cheng returned home, the delivery person arrived at the same time.

Ning Yue used the lack of internet as an excuse and paid with Hu Cheng’s cash. She then noticed the membership card and intentionally asked Hu Cheng about it. Hu Cheng lied, saying that he had been discussing business with a client there and had been persuaded by the client’s manager to get the card. After all, the place held special meaning for both of them.

Ning Yue began to recall past events, including when Hu Cheng had once said he was her family. She let some tears fall in front of him, and the two of them embraced.

Episode 5 Recap

Hu Cheng attended a reunion with his former classmates. Most of them actually didn’t like him very much, as they saw him as a "phoenix man" who got his startup capital from divorcing his ex-wife. Back in college, Hu Cheng had even been falsely accused of stealing a classmate's watch. However, life has its ups and downs, and now Hu Cheng has become the owner of a company on the verge of going public.

At the reunion, he gifted each classmate a watch worth 7,000 to 8,000 yuan and even helped one of them solve their son's schooling problem. Consequently, everyone was now eager to flatter him. One classmate, who used to look down on him, tried to mock him but ended up embarrassing himself. Hu Cheng, however, still carries emotional scars from these past events, which have shaped him into who he is today.

During the reunion, Hu Cheng's former crush even volunteered to add him on WeChat, but she never approved his request. After the gathering, Hu Cheng went to see Tian Qiuzi. He needed her to provide him with emotional validation—in other words, he sought the feeling of admiration from her. Ning Yue went to pick up her child and noticed a girl named Jiaojiao, who is Hu Ziyuan’s classmate. Jiaojiao was upset and crying because she was waiting for her mother.

Ning Yue and Hu Ziyuan stayed to play with Jiaojiao to cheer her up. Jiaojiao’s mother is a career-focused woman who is often too busy to care for her child. When Ning Yue heard the teacher speaking admiringly about Jiaojiao’s mother, she felt a sense of disdain directed at herself. Back at home, she expressed to Hu Cheng her desire to return to work.

Hu Cheng did not want Ning Yue to become a lawyer, so he gave her information about becoming a professional organizer, offering to arrange everything for her. Ning Yue did not outright refuse and pretended to agree, but deep down, she still wanted to pursue a legal career. However, due to the incident involving Ms. He, Ning Yue’s reputation in the legal industry had been tarnished, and no one was willing to hire her.

Determined not to fall back into Hu Cheng’s carefully curated “Truman Show,” she decided to start over from the ground up. Ning Yue visited a law firm and asked the director for a job opportunity. The only position available was as an assistant lawyer, and Ning Yue agreed to take it, willing to restart her career. She was assigned to assist Qin Can.

Ning Yue had once been Qin Can’s senior, and although Qin Can respected her greatly, he was surprised that she would be willing to work as his assistant. At the moment, Qin Can was working on legal matters and coincidentally received a contract from Hu Cheng’s company, as Hu Cheng’s firm was preparing to collaborate with Qin Can’s client. To expedite the signing of the contract, Hu Cheng offered to host a dinner.

To his surprise, Qin Can was the one who showed up. Qin Can was cold toward Hu Cheng and left the dinner without even eating. Hu Cheng’s company was hosting a large event, which Ning Yue learned about through a lawyer friend. The lawyer arranged for Xiao Nie to attend the event, hoping to gather information about Hu Cheng and Tian Qiuzi.

Ning Yue stated this would be the last time she did anything like this, as she had already found a new apartment and planned to sign the lease and pay the deposit next week. However, during their previous encounter at the seaside hotel, Hu Cheng had noticed Xiao Nie. Given Hu Cheng’s personality, he had likely memorized Xiao Nie’s face. If he spotted him again, he would surely pay extra attention.

Episode 6 Recap

At the evening gala, Hu Cheng spotted Xiao Nie and simultaneously learned that Ning Yue had not gone to the job he had arranged for her. He tried to contact Ning Yue, but she deliberately ignored his calls. Instead, she spent her time getting dressed and putting on makeup. Without informing Hu Cheng, she took the initiative to attend the gala. Just as Hu Cheng was about to introduce Tian Qiuzi to everyone, Ning Yue appeared.

Hu Cheng had to change course abruptly, announcing instead that his most important business partner was his wife, Ning Yue. Ning Yue even gave a speech on stage, which visibly upset Tian Qiuzi. Ning Yue praised Hu Cheng for protecting and supporting her, emphasizing his admirable qualities. She expressed her hope that their son would grow up to be like Hu Cheng.

Although Ning Yue’s compliments flattered Hu Cheng, they also made him feel uneasy, as though he was losing control of the situation. Seizing the moment, Ning Yue told Hu Cheng that she had found a job that would allow her to fight alongside him for their family’s future. To expedite the contract approval process, Hu Cheng decided to cater to Qin Can’s interests. He took the initiative to visit the fishing spot where Qin Can spent his time.

Their conversation was filled with subtle tension, as both men carefully chose their words. Hu Cheng tried both persuasion and veiled pressure, outwardly expressing his hope that Qin Can would not get himself or Ning Yue involved in matters related to him. Recently, Tian Qiuzi wanted to meet Hu Cheng, but Hu Cheng intentionally avoided the hotel where she had made arrangements. Frustrated, Tian Qiuzi reflected on everything that had happened recently and decided to assert her presence.

She sought Hu Cheng out and suggested introducing him to her nearly 90-year-old grandmother, with whom she is especially close. Tian Qiuzi wanted her grandmother to meet the man she liked. Hu Cheng was surprised that Tian Qiuzi would bring him up to her family. Although she claimed her grandmother was senile, Hu Cheng was still reluctant to let their relationship become public knowledge. When Ning Yue went to pick up her child, she ran into Qin Can.

To her surprise, she discovered that he was Jiaojiao’s uncle. Initially, she had mistaken him for Jiaojiao’s father and even suggested he pay more attention to the child, only to realize her assumption was wrong. Qin Can was straightforward and asked Ning Yue why she had chosen to work at Zhongzhi, given that her qualifications didn’t necessitate starting from the bottom. Ning Yue explained that she couldn’t afford to wait any longer and needed to seize every opportunity available.

Qin Can, however, felt she wasn’t being entirely honest. Fate brought enemies together when Tian Qiuzi visited Zhongzhi for work-related matters and ended up being handled by Qin Can and Ning Yue. Tian Qiuzi took the initiative to invite both of them to dinner. Qin Can politely declined, but Ning Yue accepted. Qin Can was puzzled, as Ning Yue could have refused. Ning Yue simply remarked that she had to eat anyway.

During the dinner, Ning Yue subtly probed while maintaining her composure, matching Tian Qiuzi’s energy in a battle of wits, with neither giving an inch. While reviewing photos from the evening gala, Hu Cheng noticed Xiao Nie in one of them and instructed his assistant to investigate him. Meanwhile, Ning Yue messaged Hu Cheng, saying she wanted to introduce a new friend to him. Before Hu Cheng arrived, Ning Yue asked Tian Qiuzi if she had a boyfriend.

Tian Qiuzi replied that she did and that her boyfriend, like Hu Cheng, was an entrepreneur. Tian Qiuzi further mentioned that her relationship faced a major issue—her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend kept entangling with him. Ning Yue clearly understood that Tian Qiuzi was alluding to her. Despite Tian Qiuzi’s attempts to belittle her, Ning Yue remained composed. She told Tian Qiuzi that she should marry her boyfriend, as that would prevent the ex-girlfriend from clinging on. After all, no one would want to become a third party in such a situation. Tian Qiuzi’s expression visibly darkened.

Episode 7 Recap

Tian Qiuzi wanted to show off a unique gift her boyfriend had prepared for her in front of Ning Yue, but before she could, Hu Cheng arrived. From that moment, the focus shifted to Ning Yue. Ning Yue mentioned that Tian Qiuzi had been very considerate of her and insisted that this meal was on her. Hu Cheng casually wiped some food off the corner of Ning Yue’s mouth, and the tacit understanding between them made Tian Qiuzi visibly uncomfortable.

Ning Yue, knowing Hu Cheng well, deliberately repeated Tian Qiuzi's earlier remarks, saying that Tian Qiuzi could completely control her boyfriend both in love and at work. This made Tian Qiuzi nervous. Instead of asking about the so-called unique gift, Ning Yue pulled out a hotel membership card, claiming it was a gift from Hu Cheng to her. Ning Yue emphasized that she and Hu Cheng were one, referencing Tian Qiuzi's comment about being soulmates with her boyfriend.

She then asked Hu Cheng if they shared the same connection. Unable to bear the conversation any longer, Tian Qiuzi chose to leave, unwilling to face reality. Hu Cheng found Ning Yue’s behavior unusual, as she typically disliked public displays of affection. Ning Yue directly confronted him, asking if he was Tian Qiuzi’s boyfriend. Hu Cheng continued to deny it, insisting their relationship was purely professional.

He even offered to replace Tian Qiuzi with a male project manager if Ning Yue was concerned. Ning Yue decided to stop pretending. She told Hu Cheng that from the moment he started hiding things from her, she stopped trusting him. Not wanting to spend another moment with him, she got up and left without looking back. That night, Ning Yue decided to sleep in her son’s room.

Meanwhile, Tian Qiuzi came to their house and waited downstairs for Hu Cheng. Hu Cheng went down to meet her, but this time Tian Qiuzi was not so easily pacified. She was deeply hurt because she had believed that Ning Yue was just a placeholder in Hu Cheng’s life. Instead, she realized she was the one who had been foolish, and Hu Cheng had never intended to have a future with her.

Ning Yue came downstairs and saw the two of them together. Hu Cheng reacted quickly, telling Tian Qiuzi to act professionally and that he would no longer collaborate with her. He warned her not to disrupt his family again. Hu Ziyuan’s school organized a weekend camping trip. Ning Yue didn’t let Hu Cheng join, which upset Hu Ziyuan. However, as children’s moods quickly change, he became happy again upon seeing Jiaojiao and Qin Can fishing.

Later, Hu Ziyuan got into an argument with another child for bullying Jiaojiao, which led to a scuffle. The other child’s father made a scene, and during the commotion, Ning Yue was pushed. Fortunately, she wasn’t seriously hurt. The next day, while dropping Hu Ziyuan off at school, Ning Yue learned that Li Xiaohu’s father (the child Hu Ziyuan fought with) had been reported for economic crimes and taken in for investigation.

Parents gossiping about the matter quickly avoided Ning Yue when they saw her. Suspecting Hu Cheng’s involvement, Ning Yue confronted him. Hu Cheng admitted he would never let anyone bully his wife or child. After receiving a promotion, Tian Qiuzi transferred to Guangzhou. A senior colleague advised Hu Cheng to let her go and focus on his marriage with Ning Yue. He pointed out that Ning Yue had been incredibly composed and dignified, choosing not to escalate the situation publicly.

One day, Hu Ziyuan went to play at the senior colleague’s house but ended up in the emergency room that evening. Ning Yue and Hu Cheng rushed to the hospital upon hearing the news. The doctor recommended further tests to rule out the possibility of a blood disorder. This devastated Ning Yue, who began to worry that her son might have leukemia.

Episode 8 Recap

Ning Yue and Hu Cheng stayed at the hospital to take care of their son. Hu Cheng's love for his son was genuine, and he also truly felt sorry for Ning Yue. At this moment, they had no choice but to support each other and move forward together. Fortunately, the test results ruled out the possibility of leukemia. Hu Ziyuan's condition was not severe, and with two to three weeks of treatment, he would fully recover.

Meanwhile, Hu Cheng's company successfully secured Series B funding and established a partnership with a major corporation. The next goal was to secure Series C funding and go public. However, Hu Cheng’s pace was too aggressive, and both his senior colleague and the financial director advised him not to rush, warning that haste could backfire. After experiencing Ziyuan's illness, Hu Cheng realized he hadn’t done enough.

He felt the need to work even harder, aiming to make his company a leader in the industry and provide the best life for his family. Ning Yue's in-laws visited the hospital to see their grandson and happened to see Ning Yue with Qin Can. Her in-laws, coming from a rural background, were dressed modestly despite having a son who was a successful businessman.

Her father-in-law blamed them for not taking good care of the child and refused to listen to Ning Yue's explanations. They brought lots of meat and fish, but since Ziyuan’s fever hadn’t subsided, he couldn’t eat such foods. No matter how much Ning Yue tried to reason with them, they wouldn’t listen. Fortunately, a nurse intervened, advising them against giving such food to the child. Only then did they put the food away.

With her in-laws in town, Ning Yue planned for them to stay at a hotel. Her father-in-law was furious and called Hu Cheng to complain. Surprisingly, Hu Cheng didn’t say much and followed Ning Yue’s arrangements. This incident made Ning Yue recognize Hu Cheng’s dedication to their child. She didn’t know how to proceed. As a lawyer who had handled divorce cases, she understood the harm divorce could cause to a child.

She decided to have an honest conversation with Hu Cheng, hoping to give their marriage one more chance. When Ziyuan was discharged, he insisted that his grandparents stay at their house. Left with no choice, Ning Yue and Hu Cheng brought the two elders home. Noticing Ning Yue’s unhappiness, her father-in-law asked Hu Cheng if she had some leverage over him. Hu Cheng denied it.

Meanwhile, the in-laws kept pressuring Hu Cheng to arrange a position for their nephew, Hu Zibo, at his company. The elders didn’t understand the complexities of running a company and assumed it was easy to bring in family members. Hu Cheng didn’t want to refuse outright, as the relatives were watching, so he personally interviewed Zibo. He promised to do his best to find an appropriate role to satisfy both his parents and the relatives. Hu Zibo, however, wasn’t completely unqualified.

He admired Hu Cheng and considered him an idol. After graduation, Zibo had joined Xunda Technology, a publicly traded company where Hu Cheng had also worked years ago. Zibo had essentially followed in his uncle’s footsteps. Hu Cheng didn’t want to appear biased, but he also couldn’t deny Zibo entry into the company. To address this, he planned to be extra strict with Zibo, ensuring that others couldn’t accuse him of favoritism.

Hu Cheng assigned Zibo to work as an assistant to his senior colleague. The senior colleague thought this was a good arrangement, as it gave Zibo the chance to prove himself and show Hu Cheng his abilities. However, the senior colleague felt that Hu Cheng might be overdoing it. After all, Zibo had already reached a junior leadership position at Xunda, and placing him in an assistant role seemed like a waste of talent. Hu Cheng, however, did this deliberately.

He believed Zibo was overly ambitious and needed to develop patience and maturity through experience. Zibo overheard some colleagues gossiping about him and felt uncomfortable about the situation.

Episode 9 Recap

Ning Yue's father-in-law held very traditional views, believing that men should never enter the kitchen. When he found out that Hu Cheng had been cooking, he was upset, insisting that men shouldn’t cook. He argued that even if Hu Cheng lived alone, he had the means to get food without stepping into the kitchen. One day, Ning Yue felt discomfort in her shoulder.

When Hu Cheng learned about it and couldn’t find any medicinal patches at home, he drove out to buy some. On the way, he got into a car accident. Upon receiving the news, Ning Yue rushed to the hospital immediately. She mistakenly thought a critically injured patient being resuscitated was Hu Cheng, and she almost lost all hope. It wasn’t until Hu Cheng approached her that she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

At that moment, Ning Yue realized that if something truly happened to Hu Cheng, she would be deeply hurt. Back at home, the couple had an open and heartfelt conversation. Hu Cheng apologized sincerely, expressing his determination to change and earn back Ning Yue’s trust. He promised to work hard to give their family a good life and protect their small family unit.

Ning Yue’s mother was brought back to live with them as Hu Cheng had canceled her stay at the nursing home. However, Hu Cheng’s parents weren’t entirely pleased. His father, in particular, thought Hu Cheng should bring Hu Zibo home instead of having him stay in the employee dormitory and not giving him a high-ranking position. He felt it would be embarrassing to face relatives back in their hometown. Hu Cheng took Ning Yue and their son to the mall.

Knowing that Ning Yue didn’t like wearing qipaos, he encouraged her to pick clothes she liked instead. Ning Yue couldn’t refuse his kindness and did as he suggested. However, deep down, Hu Cheng still hadn’t fully let go of Tian Qiuzi. While Ning Yue was trying on clothes, he overheard someone inquiring about a bag and mistakenly thought it was Tian Qiuzi.

When Ning Yue noticed his distracted state, Hu Cheng quickly lied, saying he thought he had seen a former colleague and had simply mistaken the person. By the end of the month, Ning Yue would become a permanent employee. She told Hu Cheng that she wanted to continue working and asked him not to restrict her. Hu Cheng, trying to improve lately, agreed with her wishes.

Seeing his good behavior, Ning Yue allowed him to sleep in the same bed again. However, she made it clear that to truly return to how things were before, she still needed more time. Qin Can was assigned to lead an internal investigation at the company. His subordinates knew this task was thankless—it would offend many people and tie him up for a long time, leaving little chance for lucrative opportunities.

Ning Yue approached Qin Can to volunteer for the internal investigation. In fact, Qin Can had already considered her for the role, recognizing her abilities, and had made arrangements for her to join. Hu Cheng picked up Ning Yue from work and noticed her ankle was chafed. He carefully applied a band-aid for her, and in that moment, Ning Yue felt that emotional wounds, like physical ones, might also slowly heal. She was beginning to accept Hu Cheng again.

During dinner, Hu Cheng received a call from his senior colleague, who informed him that a potential investor, Mr. Hu, had been arrested for money laundering. This meant their investment deal had fallen through, and they would also need to explain the situation to Mr. Chen, the CEO of Zhongzhi. As Hu Cheng and Ning Yue’s extended family spent more time together, her in-laws' issues became increasingly apparent. Even Ning Yue’s mother couldn’t tolerate the situation anymore.

She found Hu Cheng’s father disrespectful—while Hu Cheng’s mother was busy from early morning until night, her only break being trips to the bathroom, Hu Cheng’s father did nothing but bark orders from the sofa while watching TV.

Episode 10 Recap

Hu Cheng decided to use his own money to fill the financial gap in his company. At the same time, he reached out to Xianbin Capital for assistance. However, their chairman, Lao Mo, was known to be difficult to deal with. Hu Cheng believed that as long as he put enough effort into it, there was no such thing as "difficult. " True to his belief, Hu Cheng successfully won over Lao Mo.

Initially, Zhongzhi’s Manager Chen had doubted Hu Cheng’s reliability and worried that the loan they provided might go to waste. But upon seeing Lao Mo, Manager Chen’s attitude immediately shifted, and he began to view Hu Cheng in a completely different light. Meanwhile, Pan Jie returned home to celebrate her grandmother’s birthday, where she encountered her half-sister, Tian Qiuzi.

Pan Jie had always admired her sister and sought her approval, though her colleagues believed that Pan Jie had been brainwashed by Tian Qiuzi. Unexpectedly, Hu Zibo’s family visited, catching both Zibo and Hu Cheng off guard. When Hu Cheng returned home, he was surprised to see them. He pulled his father aside for a private conversation. Hu Cheng’s father, who was somewhat intimidated by his son, hurriedly explained the situation.

Apparently, Zibo’s mother had come to town for medical treatment, and Zibo’s uncles, upon hearing they could meet Hu Cheng, were delighted and decided to tag along. His father assured Hu Cheng that they wouldn’t stay long and would leave after having a meal. To save face, Hu Cheng’s father asked him to reimburse their hotel and travel expenses. Additionally, he requested that Hu Cheng provide a car and driver to take them sightseeing in the city.

He assured Hu Cheng that Ning Yue wouldn’t mind, as she was kind-hearted and amiable, unlike Hu Cheng’s ex-wife. The relationship between Tian Qiuzi and Pan Jie wasn’t good. Tian Qiuzi still harbored resentment from their difficult childhood. However, due to their blood ties, when she noticed that Pan Jie didn’t even own a decent outfit, she invited her sister to visit her and offered to buy her new clothes.

During their conversation, Tian Qiuzi learned that Pan Jie’s supervisor was Qin Can. Tian Qiuzi couldn’t help but marvel at how small the world was. When Hu Cheng’s relatives visited, Ning Yue prepared a large table of dishes. Hu Cheng noticed her effort and, after the relatives left, apologized to Ning Yue. However, he firmly stated that this would be his last apology. Later, Hu Cheng started cooking at home himself, which upset his father.

In his father’s traditional mindset, men should never spend time in the kitchen. To his dismay, Hu Cheng not only cooked but seemed to genuinely enjoy it. Hu Cheng’s assistant, Xiao Ma, uncovered some information about Xiao Nie, who turned out to be Mu Xiao’s assistant. Mu Xiao specialized in cases related to marriage and divorce. Once Hu Cheng pieced things together, he instructed Xiao Ma to keep the information confidential. Coincidentally, Mu Xiao arranged a meeting with Ning Yue.

However, by that time, Ning Yue had decided against pursuing a divorce. She wanted to give her relationship with Hu Cheng another chance to rebuild trust. Mu Xiao, recognizing that Ning Yue still loved Hu Cheng, respected her decision. As Mu Xiao walked Ning Yue out, Hu Cheng was watching them from a distance without being noticed. Later, Hu Cheng asked Xiao Ma to contact the company’s best engineer.

That night, while Ning Yue was asleep, Hu Cheng secretly restored some deleted data on her computer, as instructed by the engineer. To his shock, he discovered photos of himself with Tian Qiuzi. Realizing that Ning Yue had been quietly investigating him all along, Hu Cheng was filled with anger.

Episode 11 Recap

Qin Can was recently promoted to Legal Director, but soon after, Tian Qiuzi reported him for allegedly abusing his position to gain illegal benefits. She came prepared with substantial evidence. Shortly after, the HR department approached Qin Can, and he went to meet with General Manager Zhang to undergo an investigation. Ning Yue visited Qin Can and learned that he was undergoing a verbal inquiry. However, she missed running into Tian Qiuzi, and the two did not meet.

Lao Mo had a favorable impression of Hu Cheng and promised to expedite the due diligence process to help Hu Cheng's company go public as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Hu Zibo was working diligently, and even Hu Cheng’s senior colleagues held him in high regard. However, Hu Cheng didn’t think much of Zibo and frequently sought to suppress him. When Zibo appeared at a dinner meeting with Lao Mo, Hu Cheng found it inappropriate.

But since Zibo had been invited by one of Hu Cheng's senior colleagues, Hu Cheng refrained from showing his displeasure in front of Lao Mo. After everyone else left, leaving only the three of them at the table, Hu Cheng harshly reprimanded Zibo without holding back. Ning Yue successfully transitioned to a permanent employee, and Hu Cheng specially bought a cake to celebrate.

However, his father was unhappy, dismissing the celebration as over-the-top for something as simple as becoming a permanent employee. In his father’s eyes, no one was worthy of his son. Qin Can, on the other hand, was falsely accused. However, his subordinate, Lao Qian, often used Qin Can’s title as Legal Director to network over meals and drinks, and his work frequently had errors.

Despite Qin Can warning him to maintain professional boundaries, Lao Qian clearly didn’t take his words seriously. Regardless of Qin Can's explanations, the company had already decided to investigate his department. Everything would be determined based on the final results of the investigation, and the company requested full cooperation from the department. Later, while running along the beach, Qin Can happened to encounter Lao Mo.

Although they didn’t know each other, Lao Mo, sensing that Qin Can was troubled, advised him to take a good look at the vast ocean. Lao Mo remarked that only after seeing the ocean would one realize how small they truly are. Qin Can’s company recently hired a new Deputy General Manager, Luo Yating, who happened to be Hu Cheng’s ex-wife.

On her first day, she called for a meeting with Qin Can and informed him that he would report directly to her moving forward. Subsequently, Luo Yating held a department-wide meeting. As a new leader, she immediately implemented changes, stating that all contract templates would need to follow her new standards. Although some colleagues expressed dissatisfaction, Luo Yating was unfazed. She firmly stated that the Legal Department’s role was to protect the company, even if it meant making enemies.

Regardless of the circumstances, the company’s policies and procedures must be strictly followed, as they were hired to safeguard the company’s interests with their expertise. The Legal Department was already entangled in multiple issues when the Sales Department added to their troubles. Specifically, Sales Director Feng was trying to shift the blame for his mistakes. Ning Yue confronted Feng to reason with him.

When Qin Can heard about this, he immediately came to support Ning Yue, worried that she wouldn’t be able to handle the situation. As expected, with Qin Can’s intervention, he swiftly silenced Director Feng with a few sharp remarks. Tian Qiuzi’s access to internal documents to report Qin Can was made possible by Pan Jie, who secretly took them without realizing she was being used by her sister. Lao Mo also happened to be friends with Tian Qiuzi. When Lao Mo invited Hu Cheng to play a round of tennis, Hu Cheng was surprised to run into Tian Qiuzi again.

Episode 12 Recap

Lao Mo, Hu Cheng, Tian Qiuzi, and others had dinner together. During the meal, Hu Cheng noticed Tian Qiuzi being indifferent toward him. When she went to the restroom, he heard piano music playing outside—a familiar melody that was a piece they used to play together. After dinner, Tian Qiuzi’s boyfriend came to pick her up. Hu Cheng saw everything and looked visibly upset.

The investigation into Qin Can concluded, and it turned out that all the accusations against him were baseless. The company decided to compensate Qin Can and his department for the harm caused and would soon make the findings public. With this ordeal finally behind him, Qin Can took Ning Yue and some colleagues out for dinner after work to celebrate overcoming this challenge. However, bad news followed shortly.

The company announced layoffs, and Qin Can’s department was required to let one person go. Qin Can felt that this was the worst time to cut staff in the Legal Department, which was already short-handed, but the decision had been made, and even Luo Yating had no authority to intervene. Qin Can was left with no choice but to carry out the order. The only person being let go from the Legal Department was Ning Yue.

She was heartbroken, having just transitioned to a permanent employee, only to be laid off so soon. Qin Can, unwilling to sign the termination papers, asked Ning Yue to wait while he worked on finding a solution. Lao Qian, a senior member of the Legal Department, pointed out that the company had never laid off anyone from their department before. Pan Jie felt that the decision to target Ning Yue seemed intentional.

After hearing their thoughts, Ning Yue also began to suspect something unusual was at play. Before she could figure things out, Ning Yue received a call from her mother. Earlier, her mother had been getting along well with her in-laws, even teaching them how to use a dishwasher. However, an incident occurred where Ning Yue’s mother-in-law accidentally bumped into her husband after stepping out of the kitchen.

Ning Yue’s mother misinterpreted the situation and assumed her father-in-law had hit his wife, prompting her to call Ning Yue. This led to an argument between Hu Cheng’s father and Ning Yue’s mother. Hu Cheng’s father complained that he worked hard and that his family relied entirely on him. Ning Yue’s mother disagreed, insisting that Ning Yue also contributed equally to the household. Ning Yue’s mother accused Hu Cheng’s father of domestic violence, refusing to believe his explanation.

Feeling wronged, Hu Cheng’s father lashed out with harsh words, which caused Ning Yue’s mother to faint in anger. Ning Yue demanded that her father-in-law apologize, but Hu Cheng arrived at that moment and intervened. After understanding the situation, Hu Cheng decided that his father should not apologize and took responsibility for resolving the issue himself. Hu Cheng explained that both sides had acted irrationally in the heat of the moment and suggested letting the matter go.

He apologized to Ning Yue on behalf of the family. However, Ning Yue was dissatisfied, pointing out that her father-in-law consistently showed a lack of respect. She warned that if he didn’t change, they would have to ask him to leave the household. She was particularly concerned about their son, Hu Ziyuan, as this was a critical time for shaping his values, and she didn’t want him to be negatively influenced.

Both Qin Can and Ning Yue suspected that Luo Yating was being manipulated into targeting Ning Yue. Someone was using Luo Yating as a tool to get rid of her. Ning Yue recalled that Hu Cheng had a good relationship with General Manager Chen and decided to probe him. Her suspicions were confirmed—Hu Cheng had indeed been pulling strings behind the scenes. Determined, Ning Yue confronted Luo Yating directly.

She told Luo not to allow herself to be used as a pawn. She pointed out how suspicious it was that, out of so many resumes, only hers had been placed before Luo. Although Luo agreed that the situation was odd, the layoff notice had already been issued, and she was unable to reverse the decision. Ning Yue’s mother decided to move back to the care facility, as she didn’t want to endure any further unpleasantness in the household.

Ning Yue felt guilty but also didn’t want her mother to feel mistreated. When Ning Yue went to renew her mother’s stay at the facility, she discovered that Hu Cheng had already been there earlier that morning and had extended the payment until the following year.

Episode 13 Recap

Ning Yue realized that Hu Cheng had not changed. The fact that he had already arranged to renew her mother’s room fee in advance showed he had been preparing for a long time. She then started consulting with Mu Xiao, who, after reviewing some materials, suspected that Hu Cheng might have secretly transferred assets. Hu Cheng had also quietly told his senior, Zhou Wei, about Ning Yue’s plans to divorce. He was not going to sit idly by.

While Ning Yue and Mu Xiao were discussing matters, Hu Cheng appeared uninvited, which surprised both of them. However, Ning Yue no longer trusted Hu Cheng. The trust they had just built collapsed silently in that moment. Ning Yue explained that she had come to consult with Mu Xiao about severance pay, but Hu Cheng wasn’t surprised by the news. He had already prepared for it.

He mentioned that General Manager Chen had told him about it, and that Ning Yue being laid off wasn't necessarily a bad thing—it came with compensation, and she could stay at home and take care of the children. Luo Yating took Ning Yue’s words to heart and went to find General Manager Chen. Chen denied knowing Ning Yue and belittled her, calling her nothing more than an isolated housewife.

He also said that she was past the prime age for learning, and someone with no useful skills, pushed into the company through personal connections, was better off being laid off in this round. Luo Yating began to doubt him, and told Chen that if she found out anyone was using their power for personal gain, she would not let that person off easily.

It was indeed at Hu Cheng’s suggestion that General Manager Chen had helped to have Ning Yue laid off. Ning Yue had now completely seen through Hu Cheng and decided she must divorce him—there was no other choice. Mu Xiao helped Ning Yue track Hu Cheng’s account transactions over the past two years. The largest incoming transaction came from a company called Licheng Anping. Ning Yue recognized the name, as she had seen it during her internal investigations.

Mu Xiao suggested that if Ning Yue wanted to continue investigating, she should dig deeper, as it could uncover other private accounts belonging to Hu Cheng. Qin Can found a way to keep Ning Yue employed by hiring her as an outsourced worker. The decision of whether to retain her would be up to the department head, so there were no issues in terms of the system. Qin Can discussed the matter with the HR manager.

However, some people were unwilling to accept this kind of outsourced cooperation, and the HR manager told Qin Can to ask Ning Yue about her personal preference. Unexpectedly, Ning Yue came to Qin Can and asked to be transferred to an outsourced position so she could continue her unfinished work. Ning Yue believed that no matter how difficult it was, staying in the company was still better than leaving.

As long as she had work, she could investigate the transfer of funds from Licheng Anping to Hu Cheng. Qin Can was planning to pick up his niece, and Ning Yue offered to go along. To her surprise, they ran into Hu Cheng. Hu Ziyuan had lost a game and invited Jiao Jiao to dinner. Qin Can didn’t want to interact with Hu Cheng, but Jiao Jiao insisted on having her uncle join them, so Qin Can reluctantly agreed.

To his surprise, the dinner turned out to be an event Hu Cheng had arranged, and General Manager Chen was there to play along, pretending that Ning Yue’s layoff had nothing to do with Hu Cheng, but was simply because the company had poor judgment. Ning Yue modified the terms of her labor contract herself, agreeing to use her house as collateral if any issues arose. She was looking for ways to protect her assets. Qin Can didn’t understand, but Ning Yue insisted on her decision. Respecting her wishes, Qin Can didn’t press the matter further.

Episode 14 Recap

Tian Qiuzi found out that the person who had reported her for destroying someone else's family was not Ning Yue, but a colleague who wanted to compete for a promotion. So, Tian Qiuzi took charge and confronted the colleague who had reported her. Hu Zibo worked very hard at the company, and everyone could see it.

However, when it came time for the employee of the year selection, he didn’t even make it to the list; the honor went to someone else. Hu Zibo was a bit frustrated. He considered resigning and contacted his mother for advice, but she reminded him that because of Hu Cheng’s arrangements, her surgery had been moved up, and the payment had been completed.

Additionally, Hu Cheng had fully paid for his sister’s wedding house, which gave her a solid foundation in her mother-in-law’s home. His mother hoped that he could endure some hardship. Hu Zibo decided to stay, but a colleague secretly mocked him, and he couldn’t hold back, leading to a confrontation. Hu Cheng called him to the office, personally applied a band-aid to him, and told him that only by succeeding at all costs could he gain the respect of others.

Ning Yue indeed uncovered a problem. The company Licheng Anping, which General Manager Chen had signed a contract with, was dissolved shortly after the contract was signed. Ning Yue suspected something shady was going on. She took photos of the information she found and showed them to Mu Xiao. However, while they were meeting, someone sent by Hu Cheng took their photo. Hu Cheng didn’t make it clear, but he was angry.

He deliberately asked Ning Yue to help him organize his business trip clothes. Hu Cheng hoped that Ning Yue would leave the company and return to the family in a week. Ning Yue didn’t expect him to become increasingly unreasonable. While on a business trip, Hu Cheng unexpectedly ran into Tian Qiuzi. Tian Qiuzi had joined Lao Mo’s company, and from now on, they would definitely cross paths.

If this matter were to be settled, it might not be that simple. Luo Yating was also friends with Lao Mo, and the two of them went hiking together. Luo Yating remembered Hu Cheng—back then, Hu Cheng was just one of her employees, willing to do anything to climb the corporate ladder. Lao Mo also mentioned someone, a business partner who had spent two years playing games with him, just to gain his favor.

He was talking about Hu Cheng, which is why Lao Mo referred to him as his "comrade. " However, neither of them knew that they were both talking about the same person. Lao Mo wanted Luo Yating to join an event the next day, but she politely declined. However, when she entered the hotel, Hu Cheng saw her and was momentarily stunned. The next day, he specifically asked the staff if a person named Luo Yating had attended.

After confirming that she hadn’t, he was finally at ease. But this time, Tian Qiuzi wasn’t so well-behaved. She gave her room key to Hu Cheng, and he took it off. Ning Yue noticed that Xiao Ma was following her, so she deliberately distracted him by going to pick up her son while she met with Mu Xiao.

Based on the information she had gathered, Ning Yue suspected that General Manager Chen and the Sales Department were colluding, using the company’s money to invest in Hu Cheng. Mu Xiao warned Ning Yue that if she continued her investigation, it could involve her and Hu Ziyuan if they discovered Hu Cheng knew about it.

Despite the warning, Ning Yue still wanted to uncover where Hu Cheng had transferred the money, and she asked Mu Xiao to help her investigate who the legal representative of Licheng Anping was.

Episode 15 Recap

Hu Cheng got drunk and called his senior, expressing that he didn’t want to divorce Ning Yue. He wanted to keep the family together but felt powerless. He believed they still loved each other but couldn’t understand why things couldn’t return to how they used to be. Hoping to help Hu Cheng, his senior met with Ning Yue the next day. He told her that Hu Cheng had been investing his personal money into the company’s operations.

Knowing Ning Yue was looking into hiring a lawyer for the divorce and would likely investigate financial matters, the senior disclosed everything he knew. Ning Yue asked about Hu Cheng’s relationship with General Manager Chen, worrying that Hu Cheng might be going down the wrong path. However, the senior assured her that wasn’t possible since he was keeping an eye on Hu Cheng. When the senior asked why she was concerned, Ning Yue didn’t provide a direct answer.

Ning Yue noticed her father-in-law constantly treating her mother-in-law like a servant. To improve her mother-in-law’s life, she quickly hired a nanny and took her mother-in-law out to learn painting. Ning Yue hoped her mother-in-law, who had worked tirelessly her entire life, could finally enjoy a life of her own. The nanny Ning Yue hired was very capable and outspoken, soon leaving the father-in-law speechless.

When he tried to order her to pour tea, she refused, stating that serving tea wasn’t part of her duties. Ning Yue took Hu Ziyuan out for hamburgers, but the line was over an hour long. Feeling hungry, she suggested trying another restaurant, but Hu Ziyuan insisted on eating from that particular store.

Coincidentally, Ning Yue ran into one of Mu Xiao’s clients, who was also the same person Ning Yue had once helped while picking up her child at school. This person worked as a server there and gave them a favor by letting them in to eat directly. However, Hu Ziyuan’s temper had been growing worse lately. When Ning Yue told him to finish his hamburger before playing, he got angry and threw the burger on the ground.

Ning Yue was shocked to see such behavior from him. Ning Yue’s mother-in-law turned out to be a talented painter, though a bit rusty since she hadn’t painted since getting married. A fellow "classmate" saw her work and gave it high praise. Both Ning Yue and Hu Ziyuan encouraged her to continue painting regularly. That evening, the father-in-law called for a family meeting. He demanded that Ning Yue fire the nanny, Xiao Sui.

Ning Yue refused, explaining that she had already informed Hu Cheng, who had paid for the nanny’s services for the month. Dismissing her would require compensation, and with Hu Cheng under stress from work meetings, Ning Yue suggested that the father-in-law bring it up with his son himself. Naturally, he didn’t dare. Encouraged by Ning Yue, the mother-in-law decided to focus on herself, keep learning to paint, and pursue her own interests.

The father-in-law’s attempts to suppress her newfound independence were unsuccessful. Ning Yue knew that Xiao Ma was following her, so she approached him directly. She didn’t want to make things difficult for him and simply asked him to report back to Hu Cheng as she instructed. Meanwhile, at a banquet, a video of Hu Cheng pinning Tian Qiuzi against a wall near the restroom went viral. Ning Yue, Lao Mo, and Hu Cheng’s senior all saw it.

Panicked, Hu Cheng turned to his senior, who assured him that they were already working on damage control. Given the sensitive circumstances, Hu Cheng decided to maintain his distance from Tian Qiuzi.

Episode 16 Recap

Ning Yue and Qin Can went on a business trip to a nearby city to meet with He Kuan. Ning Yue volunteered for the trip because she wanted to uncover the truth about a financial matter from years ago. They worked late into the night and decided to stay at a hotel. When Hu Cheng called Ning Yue, he overheard a man’s voice in the background.

The truth was, Qin Can was helping Ning Yue back to her room after she fell off the bed. It was a normal interaction between colleagues. The next day, Qin Can dropped Ning Yue off at her home, where Hu Cheng was waiting for them at the building entrance. He confronted Ning Yue, and though Qin Can tried to explain, Hu Cheng didn’t believe him. Frustrated, Ning Yue didn’t bother arguing and turned to go home.

Hu Cheng assumed Ning Yue was retaliating against him because of the recent video incident, but Ning Yue had no such intention. Unsure of what she wanted, Hu Cheng questioned her motives. Ning Yue finally admitted the truth: she wanted to start fresh with him, to let go of the past and forgive him. However, Hu Cheng had repeatedly hurt her, and he didn’t understand how difficult it was for her to decide to forgive and rebuild trust.

Lao Mo called Hu Cheng to ask about the video with Tian Qiuzi. Hu Cheng lied, claiming he was simply helping her because she had too much to drink. Lao Mo was aware of Tian Qiuzi’s departure from her previous company, but as a profit-oriented person, he didn’t care about her personal life. Lao Mo valued her professional knowledge and resources, hoping she could bring benefits to the company. Ning Yue began preparing a backup plan for herself.

She rented an apartment for her mother and instructed her not to answer Hu Cheng’s calls. Her mother sensed that something was wrong, but Ning Yue reassured her that she could handle the situation. Meanwhile, Xiao Ma was caught following Ning Yue, but Hu Cheng refused to give up monitoring her. He then assigned Hu Zibo to keep an eye on Ning Yue and Qin Can, focusing on whether their relationship developed further.

At Hu Ziyuan’s school, there was an in-person sports activity. Hu Cheng expressed his desire to attend with them and even presented a new qipao for Ning Yue to wear. She complied with his request. At the event, they participated in a blindfolded obstacle course. Normally, the fathers would guide the mothers, but this time, Ning Yue suggested reversing the roles, with fathers being blindfolded instead.

Other parents supported the idea, so Hu Cheng had no choice but to cooperate, though he disliked not being in control. In the end, they lost the game, and Ning Yue felt that Hu Cheng didn’t trust her, as he refused to follow her instructions. Frustrated, Hu Cheng left angrily. Hu Cheng’s father also began making changes. He started cooking, though his food was a bit too salty.

However, his grandson’s encouragement gave him confidence, and he decided to learn more from his wife. Watching this newfound harmony between his parents, Hu Cheng was surprised. Seeing his father, a stubborn old-fashioned man, become happy under Ning Yue’s praise made Hu Cheng begin to reassess Ning Yue. Ning Yue had improved the relationship between Hu Cheng’s parents, leaving him astonished. When he asked how she did it, Ning Yue didn’t elaborate.

To his surprise, his parents began urging him to show Ning Yue basic respect and to stop restricting her freedom. Even his father advised him to treat Ning Yue better. Hu Cheng was shocked to see that, in just a few days, Ning Yue had managed to change the deeply ingrained habits his parents had held for decades.

Episode 17 Recap

Luo Yating was having dinner with a date at a restaurant. She didn’t actually like the person but found it hard to shake him off. Eventually, because she ignored him, the man lost his patience and stormed off angrily. Coincidentally, Lao Mo was also dining at the same restaurant and initially thought he might have a chance to step in as a "hero saving the damsel in distress.

" However, Luo Yating wasn’t interested in interacting with or engaging with someone who couldn’t control his temper. During this interaction, Lao Mo learned that Luo Yating had been through a brief 49-day marriage, which she considered a disaster. She didn’t go into much detail about it, but the experience had left her resolute in her decision to remain unmarried. Hu Cheng had already made arrangements to send his parents back to their hometown and had dismissed the nanny.

He hoped to return to a simpler life with just himself, Ning Yue, and their child as a family of three. However, Ning Yue told him he was overthinking. Meanwhile, Luo Yating tasked Qin Can with secretly investigating Chen Mingzhang. When Chen Mingzhang discovered this, he found it strange and couldn’t understand why Luo Yating had suddenly started looking into him.

Feeling uneasy, Chen Mingzhang instructed his trusted aides to quietly gather information and see if anyone was investigating the purchasing department's contracts from the past two years. Mu Xiao discovered that Licheng Anping and Mingdu Club were registered under the same legal representative, who had no notable background. However, this individual happened to come from the same hometown as Hu Cheng. Deciding to dig deeper, Mu Xiao planned a trip to this person’s hometown to investigate.

At the same time, Ning Yue’s every move was being monitored by Hu Zibo, who regularly reported back to Hu Cheng. In an unexpected turn, Ning Yue directly confronted Hu Cheng by asking about his ex-wife in front of his senior brother (Shige) and Shige’s wife. The question made everyone visibly uncomfortable, and they avoided the topic. While Ning Yue knew Hu Cheng had been married before, he had never mentioned his ex-wife, which piqued her curiosity.

She decided to ask Mu Xiao to look into it. Before long, both Luo Yating and Ning Yue learned about each other’s identities. The two women coincidentally ran into each other while waiting for the elevator, exchanging subtle but curious glances. Ning Yue was actively preparing to separate from Hu Cheng. She had already found a new kindergarten for her son, but she hadn’t told him yet.

One day, her son shared something from school—one of his classmates, Jiao Jiao, was transferring, and she was very upset. Hu Ziyuan promised Jiao Jiao he wouldn’t leave her. Hearing this, Ning Yue felt a pang of sadness. She gently told Hu Ziyuan that no matter if he and Jiao Jiao were apart, they would always remain good friends.

Hu Cheng was having a meal with Shige at a restaurant when Pan Jie mentioned needing to deliver a fan to her grandmother. She asked a colleague for help since she couldn’t carry it herself. As a gesture of thanks, Pan Jie treated her colleague to dinner. After the meal, Hu Cheng overheard Pan Jie making a call to Ning Yue.

He revealed his identity and offered to have his assistant drive them, as the destination was in a hard-to-reach area. During the car ride, Hu Cheng subtly tried to probe Pan Jie for information. However, Pan Jie quickly caught on and refrained from saying much. She even discreetly signaled to her colleague not to reveal anything. Pan Jie wasn’t the type to gossip mindlessly; she had a keen understanding of human nature and knew how to handle such situations delicately.

Episode 18 Recap

Chen Mingzhang's investigation had become widely known within the industry. When Zhou Wei, Hu Cheng's senior brother (Shige), learned about it, he approached Hu Cheng to inquire. However, Hu Cheng had always concealed his dealings with Chen Mingzhang from Zhou Wei. Since Zhou Wei trusted Hu Cheng, he believed him when Hu Cheng claimed they had no significant dealings.

To show goodwill, Hu Cheng secretly bought classic and versatile furniture for Zhou Wei, who had recently moved into a new home, hoping that Zhou Wei and his wife wouldn’t mind. Zhou Wei was touched by Hu Cheng’s gesture, and his wife also appreciated the thoughtfulness. Hu Cheng’s tactic to win their favor proved effective. Chen Mingzhang couldn’t get in touch with Hu Cheng, so he had no choice but to visit the company in person.

In the past, he had privately misappropriated company funds to invest in Hu Cheng’s ventures. Now that Hu Cheng couldn’t fill this financial gap, Chen Mingzhang was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan. Their conversation was accidentally overheard by Hu Zibo. Hu Cheng needed to quickly raise money to pay back Chen Mingzhang’s funds, but the amount wasn’t small, and he required time to gather it.

Meanwhile, Mu Xiao discovered that a significant portion of Hu Cheng's shares had been transferred to Mingdu Club. She immediately called Ning Yue to share the discovery, but she suggested discussing the details in person. Ning Yue decided to formally propose a divorce to Hu Cheng. However, knowing he wouldn’t easily agree, she planned to first move out with Hu Ziyuan.

Around this time, Zhou Wei suddenly went missing, and the HR department soon received a resignation letter from him via email. Panicked, Hu Cheng drove to Zhou Wei’s new home, only to be informed by a neighbor that no one lived there and the renovation team had long since left. Hu Cheng believed Zhou Wei had been poached by someone else. He instructed the company to investigate who had recruited Zhou Wei and reassigned Zhou Wei’s projects to Hu Zibo.

Despite feeling betrayed, Hu Cheng decided to temporarily retain Zhou Wei’s position but suspend his salary, convinced that Zhou Wei would eventually come back to him. Zhou Wei’s abrupt departure deeply hurt Hu Cheng, as Zhou Wei was his only friend. Ning Yue initially wanted to hand him the divorce papers, but seeing Hu Cheng so distressed, she hesitated and held back for the moment. Meanwhile, Chen Mingzhang discovered that Ning Yue was the one working against him.

Furious, he contacted Hu Cheng and revealed that Ning Yue was technically an outsourced employee. Hu Cheng became enraged, especially after finding an envelope on his desk containing photos of Ning Yue and Qin Can together. Although the photos showed no intimate behavior, Ning Yue appeared genuinely happy in them. In a fit of anger, Hu Cheng drove to Ning Yue’s office and, in front of everyone, forcibly dragged her away. Back home, the two had a heated argument.

Unable to tolerate Hu Cheng’s behavior any longer, Ning Yue took out the divorce papers, insisting on a divorce. Hu Cheng tore up the documents and firmly told her that he despised betrayal. He warned her that resigning was her only option. After picking up Hu Ziyuan from school, Ning Yue took him to her mother’s house. She had already arranged for a new kindergarten but hadn’t told her son about the transfer yet.

Mu Xiao uncovered that the legal representative of Mingdu Club was merely a puppet under Hu Cheng’s control and knew nothing about the operations. She instructed Ning Yue to meet her at the law firm. However, after Mu Xiao hung up, she realized she was being followed.

Episode 19 Recap

Mu Xiao was in a car accident but was fortunately rushed to the hospital in time. Although she sustained severe injuries, her condition was stabilized. However, it was unclear whether this was an accident or a deliberate act of harm. When Ning Yue received the news, she immediately rushed to the hospital. When Ning Yue returned home, she was shocked to find Hu Cheng there. She had not expected to avoid him for long.

Using Hu Ziyuan as leverage, Hu Cheng forced Ning Yue to return home. To avoid causing a scene in front of their son, Ning Yue reluctantly went with him. Once back, Hu Cheng pressured Ning Yue to resign from her job, and she agreed. Later, Ning Yue went to Qin Can and asked him to have the company sue her. She believed this was the only way to save herself. Understanding that Ning Yue was in trouble, Qin Can agreed.

When Hu Cheng learned about Ning Yue being sued by the company, he was furious, believing she did it on purpose. Ning Yue explained that she had been out of the workforce for many years and had forgotten much of her professional knowledge. She had only agreed to the high compensation terms so she could have a job. Now, she presented Hu Cheng with three choices: divorce her, pay the compensation for her, or let her return to work.

Realizing that Ning Yue wasn’t giving up, Hu Cheng decided to accompany her to the company to discuss terminating the contract. Ning Yue agreed, as she had prepared everything in advance. She was certain Hu Cheng would be in for a surprise once he showed up. When Luo Yating walked into the meeting room, Hu Cheng froze. He never expected Luo Yating to be the Vice President of Zhongzhi.

Hu Cheng firmly stated that Ning Yue’s resignation was non-negotiable, but they would not pay any compensation. As Hu Cheng tried to drag Ning Yue away, Luo Yating intervened, saying they would definitely receive a court notice. In front of Luo Yating, Hu Cheng seemed deflated, unable to confront her. Luo Yating warned him that between the two of them, she had always had the final say—both in the past and now.

Although the contract was harsh, it was a mutual agreement. As long as Ning Yue wanted to resign, the contract terms couldn’t be avoided. Ning Yue deliberately provoked Hu Cheng, rubbing salt into his wounds by mentioning his deep grudge with Luo Yating. Only then did Hu Cheng realize that Ning Yue had long been aware of his past with Luo Yating and had orchestrated everything intentionally. When Ning Yue attempted to leave, Hu Cheng blocked her path.

Ning Yue told him that the reason she and Luo Yating joined forces was because Luo Yating symbolized his humiliation, proving his failures and incompetence. In a fit of rage, Hu Cheng pushed Ning Yue. She lost her balance and crashed into the glass in the office, shattering it. The police arrived to investigate, and Pan Jie volunteered as a witness, stating that Hu Cheng had deliberately harmed Ning Yue. Fortunately, Ning Yue only suffered external injuries.

After receiving treatment at the hospital, she went home to rest. Hu Cheng, however, was taken to the police station for questioning. The incident deeply unsettled Luo Yating. She realized that if she hadn’t divorced Hu Cheng back then, she might have been the one lying on the broken glass today. She called Lao Mo to keep her company and confided in him about her tragic marriage from years ago. She admitted that an unhappy marriage hurts both parties.

Lao Mo, seeing her sorrow, comforted her with a hug. As the meeting room glass was being replaced, Qin Can spoke with the engineering team and discovered that Ning Yue had deliberately chosen this meeting room, knowing the glass had a crack and was unsafe. This made Qin Can realize that Ning Yue had meticulously planned every step to escape Hu Cheng. Still, Qin Can sympathized with Ning Yue. He understood that she had no other choice. Facing someone as controlling as Hu Cheng, she could only counter his madness with an even bolder approach.

Episode 20 Recap

After Hu Cheng was released from detention, his lawyer informed him that everything had been deliberately orchestrated by Ning Yue. Once free, Hu Cheng tracked down Zhou Wei and discovered that Zhou Wei was in the late stages of liver cancer, leaving him with little time. That was why Zhou Wei had been deliberately avoiding him. Zhou Wei knew Hu Cheng’s temperament well and assumed Hu Cheng had already planned how to take revenge on him.

Hu Cheng didn’t respond to this but instead blamed Zhou Wei for not telling him earlier. When someone is nearing the end of their life, they no longer fear much and are more willing to speak their truth. Zhou Wei admitted that he had hidden his illness from Hu Cheng because he feared him. He explained that everything he had was thanks to Hu Cheng, which caused immense psychological pressure.

Zhou Wei constantly had to read Hu Cheng’s moods and was terrified that he would become the scapegoat if anything went wrong at the company. Hearing this, Hu Cheng hadn’t realized how much pressure he had put on Zhou Wei. But Zhou Wei made it clear—Hu Cheng only truly trusted himself. Zhou Wei had wanted to leave long ago but had been too scared, fearing the consequences of offending Hu Cheng. In truth, Zhou Wei had exaggerated his words deliberately.

He knew Hu Cheng wouldn’t take his words to heart unless he spoke strongly. He hoped this would force Hu Cheng to reflect on himself. After leaving the hospital, Hu Cheng went to pick up Hu Ziyuan from kindergarten. Coincidentally, Ning Yue arrived at the same time. Together, they took their son to a parent-child restaurant. Ning Yue, however, remained firm about the divorce, stating that if Hu Cheng refused to sign, they would have to resolve it in court.

Hu Cheng told Ning Yue that he had just visited Zhou Wei and found out about his late-stage liver cancer. He expressed regret for not trusting Zhou Wei and for saying so many hurtful things in the past. However, he admitted that it was too late to change anything. Ning Yue knew this was typical of Hu Cheng—he would never truly trust the people around him. Hu Cheng still refused to agree to the divorce, but Ning Yue’s stance was unwavering.

She promised to find time to visit Zhou Wei but also urged Hu Cheng to seriously review the divorce agreement. Ning Yue then left with Hu Ziyuan, who was heartbroken. After walking a short distance, Hu Ziyuan ran back to hug his father. This time, however, Ning Yue didn’t relent—she firmly took Hu Ziyuan away. During Hu Cheng’s absence, the company fell into chaos. Employees were openly speculating about whether the company was on the brink of collapse.

Meanwhile, Chen Mingzhang was still attempting to defend himself. Ning Yue, Luo Yating, and Qin Can confronted him together. Chen Mingzhang, in a fit of rage, accused Ning Yue of being unreasonable, siding with outsiders to target her own family. He even implied that Ning Yue was not completely uninvolved in the situation, pointing out that her spending over the years was closely tied to Licheng Anping. In the end, Chen Mingzhang was taken away by the economic investigation department.

Before leaving, he warned Ning Yue that she would regret this. Qin Can showed great concern for Ning Yue, urging her to speak up if she faced any difficulties and to protect herself. Ning Yue was grateful for his support, but she also knew that Hu Cheng was likely too preoccupied with other matters to focus on her for the time being. Later, Luo Yating arranged to meet with Ning Yue.

Luo Yating expressed her displeasure at feeling used, but Ning Yue didn’t admit to it. She explained that sometimes women need to support each other, especially when facing the same "devil.

Episode 21 Recap

Lao Mo went to Hu Cheng’s company and discovered that Hu Cheng was indeed not there. At that moment, Hu Cheng was at the hospital visiting Zhou Wei, who was in a depressive state, lacking energy. Tian Qiuzi called Hu Cheng, but he didn’t answer. In fact, Tian Qiuzi was trying to inform him that Lao Mo was heading to the company to check on things. Now, Lao Mo began to doubt himself.

The one thing keeping him awake at night was questioning whether he had misjudged Hu Cheng. Lao Mo noticed that the documents on Hu Cheng’s desk hadn’t been touched for half a month. The place didn’t resemble the operation of a publicly listed company at all. Lao Mo’s suspicions about Hu Cheng deepened. He had heard about the public incident where Hu Cheng had domestically abused his wife.

While Lao Mo wasn’t particularly concerned about Hu Cheng’s personal affairs, as an investor, he knew that a company’s stock price was closely tied to its CEO’s reputation. Seeing Hu Cheng’s current state, Lao Mo felt there wasn’t much to hope for in the future. Exhausted from three sleepless nights, Lao Mo decided to have the contract termination handled by Tian Qiuzi. Tian Qiuzi saw a court summons and learned about Ning Yue’s divorce case.

She thought about helping Hu Cheng make a comeback and was determined to stay by his side. Through Mu Xiao’s assistant, Ning Yue found out that the person helping Hu Cheng hide his money was Ruan Meiying. This was the same person who had deliberately approached her outside Hu Ziyuan’s school. However, Ruan Meiying wasn’t married to Hu Cheng. Mu Xiao had been assisting Ruan Meiying with her divorce from her ex-husband, who was not Hu Cheng either.

Nonetheless, the most unforgettable relationship in Ruan Meiying’s life was with Hu Cheng. Both Ruan Meiying and Hu Cheng came from impoverished families. Ruan Meiying had even worked odd jobs to support Hu Cheng’s education. But after Hu Cheng moved to a big city, he never returned to find her. Although there was no longer any love between them, their relationship had turned into one of mutual exploitation.

Hu Cheng would regularly give her a portion of money, and in return, she would help him keep his assets hidden—wealth that Ning Yue knew nothing about. Ruan Meiying wasn’t a bad person. She had been waiting for the moment Hu Cheng’s company ran into trouble. When it finally happened, she left behind the money that rightfully belonged to Ning Yue.

When Hu Cheng tried to transfer funds from his account to save his company, he discovered that there was no money left in the account. Hu Cheng’s company was collapsing. Many employees were preparing to resign, and his former friends were deliberately keeping their distance. Hu Zibo had initially planned to accept help from Mr. Xu, but Hu Cheng reprimanded him, as Mr. Xu was known for being shady. Hu Zibo had even signed a contract with Mr.

Xu, which meant that if Mr. Xu got into trouble, they wouldn’t be able to escape unscathed. Hu Cheng explained that during his past dealings with Chen Mingzhang, there were no binding contracts. So if trouble arose, all he had to do was pay back the money. However, Hu Zibo was turning into a version of Hu Cheng himself. To achieve his goals, Hu Zibo was willing to do anything.

Hu Cheng started to regret his actions and didn’t want Hu Zibo to follow in his footsteps. He urged Hu Zibo to act with integrity. But it was already too late for Hu Zibo to turn back. It was revealed that it was Hu Zibo, not Hu Cheng, who had hit Mu Xiao with his car. This wasn’t under Hu Cheng’s orders; Hu Zibo had made the decision on his own. At the same time, Ning Yue uncovered evidence showing that the car involved in hitting Mu Xiao belonged to Yaofeng Technology.

Episode 22 Recap

Hu Zibo acted this way to gain Hu Cheng’s approval. At this moment, Hu Cheng realized how badly his actions had failed. His desire to control others had only led to their destruction and, ultimately, his own downfall. Zibo deeply regretted his decisions, especially joining Yaofeng Technology. He felt he should have stayed with Xunda. Now, he didn’t know what to do about his mother.

Ning Yue received a call from the property management about water leaking from their bathroom into the downstairs unit. She had no choice but to go home and check. Seeing Hu Cheng’s dejected state made her feel sad, but there was no turning back. She remained firm about the divorce. Without any resistance, Hu Cheng signed the divorce agreement.

Hu Cheng confessed that it was Zibo who had hit Mu Xiao, but he claimed to have been unaware of it at the time. However, he admitted that Zibo’s behavior was influenced by his own actions. Hu Cheng pleaded with Ning Yue to convince Mu Xiao not to press charges against Zibo. He promised to take Zibo to surrender to the authorities, hoping they could give the young man a second chance. Zhou Wei passed away.

Before his death, Ning Yue visited him. Even in his final moments, Zhou Wei spoke on behalf of Hu Cheng, asking Ning Yue to give him another chance. However, seeing Ning Yue’s refusal, Zhou Wei completely gave up hope. After Zhou Wei’s funeral, Hu Cheng was taken away by authorities to assist in the investigation of a financial crime. For Hu Cheng, Zhou Wei was like family.

Over the years, Zhou Wei was the only one who didn’t look down on him and always offered his support. Hu Cheng was convicted of embezzlement and sentenced to three years in prison. Hu Zibo was sentenced to one year and six months for intentional assault. Although Ning Yue divorced Hu Cheng, she didn’t return to her career as a lawyer. Instead, she chose to rebuild Yaofeng Technology.

She believed that under her leadership, the company could relist on the stock market. She was determined to create a flawless business plan to present to Lao Mo. Tian Qiuzi, as the sole representative of Xianbin Capital, stormed into the company to question Ning Yue about why she wasn’t informed of a meeting. Upon arrival, she realized Ning Yue was in a meeting with representatives from Jingbei Capital. The discussions involved sensitive trade secrets.

Ning Yue made it clear that if Tian Qiuzi insisted on staying, Xianbin Capital would be held responsible for any losses Jingbei Capital incurred due to a breach of confidentiality. After hearing some contract terms and financial details during the meeting, Tian Qiuzi immediately understood the severity of the situation. Recognizing the trade secrets involved, she left in embarrassment. Ning Yue proved herself to be an exceptional risk manager and business strategist. She had previously acquired Mr.

He’s near-bankrupt company with a substantial loan, believing in the team and technology behind it. Time proved her judgment correct. Ning Yue’s hard work was instrumental in Yaofeng Technology’s comeback. However, Tian Qiuzi secretly plotted to oust Ning Yue. She arranged private meetings with three company shareholders, hoping to gain their support in removing Ning Yue from her position. Upon learning of this, Ning Yue made an unexpected appearance at their dinner meeting.

Wherever Ning Yue showed up, Tian Qiuzi’s attempts to assert dominance became futile, often leaving her in awkward situations. Ning Yue admitted she had been neglecting communication with the shareholders recently, failing to keep them updated on company strategies and developments. She took the initiative to apologize and acknowledged her oversight. Her sincere attitude earned the recognition and approval of the other shareholders.

Episode 23 Recap

Ruan Meiying was deceived by a fraudulent agency when she went abroad. They took all her money, leaving her with nothing. She now works at a bar in Southeast Asia. Mu Xiao tracked her down and informed Ning Yue of her whereabouts. Ning Yue got in touch with Ruan Meiying, urging her to return and turn herself in.

Ning Yue told her that her current miserable life was worse than before and that if she chose to return, she and Mu Xiao would help her with her legal case, giving her a chance for a better future. After listening to Ning Yue, Ruan Meiying decided to return to the country and surrender herself to the authorities. Hu Cheng was granted early parole for good behavior.

No one came to pick him up from prison, but a fellow inmate who was also being released offered him a ride. The man mistakenly assumed that Tian Qiuzi was Hu Cheng’s wife because she had visited him often, but Hu Cheng clarified that she wasn’t. Standing once again in front of Yaofeng Technology’s building, Hu Cheng was spotted by his former assistant, Xiao Ma. Surprised, Hu Cheng asked why Xiao Ma was still at the company.

Xiao Ma explained that Ning Yue had kept most of the old employees and ensured they were taken care of during the company’s most challenging times. Ning Yue, watching from upstairs, came down and locked eyes with Hu Cheng. She initially intended to have a proper conversation with him, but after a few words, Ning Yue realized Hu Cheng hadn’t changed. Frustrated, she told him to get his life together before contacting her again.

After calming down, Hu Cheng called Ning Yue to apologize. Moved by his sincerity, Ning Yue decided to send him some money to help him get back on his feet, telling him to contact her once he was settled. With nowhere else to go, Hu Cheng sought out Tian Qiuzi.

It was then he learned that Tian Qiuzi had been making secret moves and was planning to present him with a "grand gift" at the upcoming shareholders’ meeting to help him make a triumphant return to Yaofeng Technology. Tian Qiuzi brought Hu Cheng to meet Lao Song, the brother-in-law of Jiang, Yaofeng’s largest shareholder. To Hu Cheng’s surprise, Lao Song was someone he had fired years ago.

Feeling there was no need for further discussion, Hu Cheng turned to leave, but Tian Qiuzi stopped him. She didn’t care about the past and was willing to endure anything to achieve her goals. She urged Hu Cheng to be patient. It turned out Hu Cheng and Lao Song were old classmates. Lao Song wasn’t meeting him to settle scores but to encourage him to let go of fame and fortune at their age.

Seeing Lao Song in a wheelchair, Hu Cheng felt a pang of guilt. Lao Song advised him not to be too harsh on others or himself. Lao Song’s words reminded Hu Cheng of what Zhou Wei had once told him. Hu Cheng wanted to visit Yaofeng Technology again, but Tian Qiuzi stopped him outside the building, not wanting him to return in such a dejected state. As they were talking, Ning Yue came out of the building.

Tian Qiuzi deliberately grabbed Hu Cheng’s arm and said she would support him. Ning Yue glanced at them but said nothing. Tian Qiuzi later informed Hu Cheng that the shareholders’ meeting next Monday would be his perfect opportunity to return to Yaofeng Technology. It was only then Hu Cheng realized her plan was to replace Ning Yue. However, by now, Hu Cheng had grown tired of schemes and power struggles. After all, he still had feelings for Ning Yue.

Episode 24 (Ending) Recap

The relationship between Qin Can and Ning Yue grew closer. Qin Can brought Jiaojiao to Ning Yue's house for dinner, preparing a full table of dishes. Ning Yue’s mother was full of praise for him. After dinner, Ning Yue studied some relevant knowledge with Qin Can. Even though she was the interim leader of Yaofeng Technology, she never gave up pursuing what she loved. After settling down, Hu Cheng contacted Ning Yue, expressing his desire to see Ziyuan.

Ning Yue agreed to let him pick up their son and even allowed Ziyuan to stay with him. Hu Cheng was very grateful. Ning Yue reminded him to return Ziyuan by Sunday so he wouldn’t miss school on Monday. Ziyuan and Hu Cheng had a wonderful time together. It had been so long since Ziyuan had seen his father, and he cherished every moment.

During their time together, Hu Cheng explained to his son that he had made some serious mistakes, which was why they couldn’t live together anymore. Ziyuan was heartbroken and didn’t want to be separated from his father. Watching his son fall asleep beside him, Hu Cheng began reflecting deeply. He realized that the happy life he once had was built on Ning Yue’s love and tolerance, and he had destroyed it with his own hands.

He had neglected Ning Yue’s feelings and ruined the happiness they had. Although it was too late for regret, Hu Cheng wondered what he could do to make amends. Tian Qiuzi had meticulously planned to help Hu Cheng regain his position as the general manager of Yaofeng Technology. She urged Hu Cheng to attend the upcoming shareholders' meeting, and he agreed. The next day, Tian Qiuzi attended the meeting on behalf of Jiang as his representative, which surprised Ning Yue.

Although Jiang’s shares alone weren’t enough to remove Ning Yue as general manager, combining them with Hu Cheng’s 25. 5% stake would be sufficient. Hu Cheng appeared at the meeting but did not align himself with Tian Qiuzi. Instead, he began by thanking everyone for their support of Yaofeng Technology.

Then, to everyone’s shock, he announced that he would transfer all his shares to Ning Yue free of charge and declared that he would no longer have any connection to Yaofeng Technology. After making his statement, he left immediately. Tian Qiuzi was stunned—her elaborate efforts had all been in vain, leaving her feeling like a fool. Hu Cheng gave all his remaining savings to Tian Qiuzi, admitting that their relationship had been a mistake from the start.

He acknowledged her struggles but made it clear this was all he could do for her. Tian Qiuzi was deeply saddened and went home to spend time with her grandmother. Qin Can planned a weekend outing with Ziyuan and Jiaojiao. Since Ning Yue was attending a charity event, she couldn’t join them. She reminded Qin Can to stay safe, especially since he was taking care of two children on his own.

However, an accident happened—while taking a photo of Ziyuan, Qin Can fell down a slope. When Ning Yue received the news, she rushed to the scene. Thankfully, Qin Can’s injuries weren’t serious, but he couldn’t walk due to a leg injury. Ning Yue called for a rescue team and stayed by Qin Can’s side. Qin Can cherished this time with Ning Yue and wished it could last longer, but the rescue team soon arrived. Eventually, everyone’s lives fell back into place.

Ning Yue, Qin Can, and Mu Xiao regularly returned to the charity service center to provide consultations when they had time. Luo Yating and Lao Mo finally got together. Hu Cheng returned to his professional field, continuing to excel in his expertise.
