Qin Can was recently promoted to Legal Director, but soon after, Tian Qiuzi reported him for allegedly abusing his position to gain illegal benefits. She came prepared with substantial evidence. Shortly after, the HR department approached Qin Can, and he went to meet with General Manager Zhang to undergo an investigation. Ning Yue visited Qin Can and learned that he was undergoing a verbal inquiry. However, she missed running into Tian Qiuzi, and the two did not meet.

Lao Mo had a favorable impression of Hu Cheng and promised to expedite the due diligence process to help Hu Cheng's company go public as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Hu Zibo was working diligently, and even Hu Cheng’s senior colleagues held him in high regard. However, Hu Cheng didn’t think much of Zibo and frequently sought to suppress him. When Zibo appeared at a dinner meeting with Lao Mo, Hu Cheng found it inappropriate.

But since Zibo had been invited by one of Hu Cheng's senior colleagues, Hu Cheng refrained from showing his displeasure in front of Lao Mo. After everyone else left, leaving only the three of them at the table, Hu Cheng harshly reprimanded Zibo without holding back. Ning Yue successfully transitioned to a permanent employee, and Hu Cheng specially bought a cake to celebrate.

However, his father was unhappy, dismissing the celebration as over-the-top for something as simple as becoming a permanent employee. In his father’s eyes, no one was worthy of his son. Qin Can, on the other hand, was falsely accused. However, his subordinate, Lao Qian, often used Qin Can’s title as Legal Director to network over meals and drinks, and his work frequently had errors.

Despite Qin Can warning him to maintain professional boundaries, Lao Qian clearly didn’t take his words seriously. Regardless of Qin Can's explanations, the company had already decided to investigate his department. Everything would be determined based on the final results of the investigation, and the company requested full cooperation from the department. Later, while running along the beach, Qin Can happened to encounter Lao Mo.

Although they didn’t know each other, Lao Mo, sensing that Qin Can was troubled, advised him to take a good look at the vast ocean. Lao Mo remarked that only after seeing the ocean would one realize how small they truly are. Qin Can’s company recently hired a new Deputy General Manager, Luo Yating, who happened to be Hu Cheng’s ex-wife.

On her first day, she called for a meeting with Qin Can and informed him that he would report directly to her moving forward. Subsequently, Luo Yating held a department-wide meeting. As a new leader, she immediately implemented changes, stating that all contract templates would need to follow her new standards. Although some colleagues expressed dissatisfaction, Luo Yating was unfazed. She firmly stated that the Legal Department’s role was to protect the company, even if it meant making enemies.

Regardless of the circumstances, the company’s policies and procedures must be strictly followed, as they were hired to safeguard the company’s interests with their expertise. The Legal Department was already entangled in multiple issues when the Sales Department added to their troubles. Specifically, Sales Director Feng was trying to shift the blame for his mistakes. Ning Yue confronted Feng to reason with him.

When Qin Can heard about this, he immediately came to support Ning Yue, worried that she wouldn’t be able to handle the situation. As expected, with Qin Can’s intervention, he swiftly silenced Director Feng with a few sharp remarks. Tian Qiuzi’s access to internal documents to report Qin Can was made possible by Pan Jie, who secretly took them without realizing she was being used by her sister. Lao Mo also happened to be friends with Tian Qiuzi. When Lao Mo invited Hu Cheng to play a round of tennis, Hu Cheng was surprised to run into Tian Qiuzi again.
