Hu Cheng got drunk and called his senior, expressing that he didn’t want to divorce Ning Yue. He wanted to keep the family together but felt powerless. He believed they still loved each other but couldn’t understand why things couldn’t return to how they used to be. Hoping to help Hu Cheng, his senior met with Ning Yue the next day. He told her that Hu Cheng had been investing his personal money into the company’s operations.

Knowing Ning Yue was looking into hiring a lawyer for the divorce and would likely investigate financial matters, the senior disclosed everything he knew. Ning Yue asked about Hu Cheng’s relationship with General Manager Chen, worrying that Hu Cheng might be going down the wrong path. However, the senior assured her that wasn’t possible since he was keeping an eye on Hu Cheng. When the senior asked why she was concerned, Ning Yue didn’t provide a direct answer.

Ning Yue noticed her father-in-law constantly treating her mother-in-law like a servant. To improve her mother-in-law’s life, she quickly hired a nanny and took her mother-in-law out to learn painting. Ning Yue hoped her mother-in-law, who had worked tirelessly her entire life, could finally enjoy a life of her own. The nanny Ning Yue hired was very capable and outspoken, soon leaving the father-in-law speechless.

When he tried to order her to pour tea, she refused, stating that serving tea wasn’t part of her duties. Ning Yue took Hu Ziyuan out for hamburgers, but the line was over an hour long. Feeling hungry, she suggested trying another restaurant, but Hu Ziyuan insisted on eating from that particular store.

Coincidentally, Ning Yue ran into one of Mu Xiao’s clients, who was also the same person Ning Yue had once helped while picking up her child at school. This person worked as a server there and gave them a favor by letting them in to eat directly. However, Hu Ziyuan’s temper had been growing worse lately. When Ning Yue told him to finish his hamburger before playing, he got angry and threw the burger on the ground.

Ning Yue was shocked to see such behavior from him. Ning Yue’s mother-in-law turned out to be a talented painter, though a bit rusty since she hadn’t painted since getting married. A fellow "classmate" saw her work and gave it high praise. Both Ning Yue and Hu Ziyuan encouraged her to continue painting regularly. That evening, the father-in-law called for a family meeting. He demanded that Ning Yue fire the nanny, Xiao Sui.

Ning Yue refused, explaining that she had already informed Hu Cheng, who had paid for the nanny’s services for the month. Dismissing her would require compensation, and with Hu Cheng under stress from work meetings, Ning Yue suggested that the father-in-law bring it up with his son himself. Naturally, he didn’t dare. Encouraged by Ning Yue, the mother-in-law decided to focus on herself, keep learning to paint, and pursue her own interests.

The father-in-law’s attempts to suppress her newfound independence were unsuccessful. Ning Yue knew that Xiao Ma was following her, so she approached him directly. She didn’t want to make things difficult for him and simply asked him to report back to Hu Cheng as she instructed. Meanwhile, at a banquet, a video of Hu Cheng pinning Tian Qiuzi against a wall near the restroom went viral. Ning Yue, Lao Mo, and Hu Cheng’s senior all saw it.

Panicked, Hu Cheng turned to his senior, who assured him that they were already working on damage control. Given the sensitive circumstances, Hu Cheng decided to maintain his distance from Tian Qiuzi.
