Married Episode 20 Recap
> Married Recap
After Hu Cheng was released from detention, his lawyer informed him that everything had been deliberately orchestrated by Ning Yue. Once free, Hu Cheng tracked down Zhou Wei and discovered that Zhou Wei was in the late stages of liver cancer, leaving him with little time. That was why Zhou Wei had been deliberately avoiding him. Zhou Wei knew Hu Cheng’s temperament well and assumed Hu Cheng had already planned how to take revenge on him.
Hu Cheng didn’t respond to this but instead blamed Zhou Wei for not telling him earlier. When someone is nearing the end of their life, they no longer fear much and are more willing to speak their truth. Zhou Wei admitted that he had hidden his illness from Hu Cheng because he feared him. He explained that everything he had was thanks to Hu Cheng, which caused immense psychological pressure.
Zhou Wei constantly had to read Hu Cheng’s moods and was terrified that he would become the scapegoat if anything went wrong at the company. Hearing this, Hu Cheng hadn’t realized how much pressure he had put on Zhou Wei. But Zhou Wei made it clear—Hu Cheng only truly trusted himself. Zhou Wei had wanted to leave long ago but had been too scared, fearing the consequences of offending Hu Cheng. In truth, Zhou Wei had exaggerated his words deliberately.
He knew Hu Cheng wouldn’t take his words to heart unless he spoke strongly. He hoped this would force Hu Cheng to reflect on himself. After leaving the hospital, Hu Cheng went to pick up Hu Ziyuan from kindergarten. Coincidentally, Ning Yue arrived at the same time. Together, they took their son to a parent-child restaurant. Ning Yue, however, remained firm about the divorce, stating that if Hu Cheng refused to sign, they would have to resolve it in court.
Hu Cheng told Ning Yue that he had just visited Zhou Wei and found out about his late-stage liver cancer. He expressed regret for not trusting Zhou Wei and for saying so many hurtful things in the past. However, he admitted that it was too late to change anything. Ning Yue knew this was typical of Hu Cheng—he would never truly trust the people around him. Hu Cheng still refused to agree to the divorce, but Ning Yue’s stance was unwavering.
She promised to find time to visit Zhou Wei but also urged Hu Cheng to seriously review the divorce agreement. Ning Yue then left with Hu Ziyuan, who was heartbroken. After walking a short distance, Hu Ziyuan ran back to hug his father. This time, however, Ning Yue didn’t relent—she firmly took Hu Ziyuan away. During Hu Cheng’s absence, the company fell into chaos. Employees were openly speculating about whether the company was on the brink of collapse.
Meanwhile, Chen Mingzhang was still attempting to defend himself. Ning Yue, Luo Yating, and Qin Can confronted him together. Chen Mingzhang, in a fit of rage, accused Ning Yue of being unreasonable, siding with outsiders to target her own family. He even implied that Ning Yue was not completely uninvolved in the situation, pointing out that her spending over the years was closely tied to Licheng Anping. In the end, Chen Mingzhang was taken away by the economic investigation department.
Before leaving, he warned Ning Yue that she would regret this. Qin Can showed great concern for Ning Yue, urging her to speak up if she faced any difficulties and to protect herself. Ning Yue was grateful for his support, but she also knew that Hu Cheng was likely too preoccupied with other matters to focus on her for the time being. Later, Luo Yating arranged to meet with Ning Yue.
Luo Yating expressed her displeasure at feeling used, but Ning Yue didn’t admit to it. She explained that sometimes women need to support each other, especially when facing the same "devil.
